I guess. I just saw two players in Chase and Higgins that were heads and shoulders better than anyone trying to cover them. That is the very definition of coaching. Figuring out how to make adjustments when your players are struggling.
Paying a player $40 million and he's invisible unless you scheme him favorable matchupsIt sucks to admit it, but it's obvious that TJ is on the backside of his prime. If the coaching staff doesnt find a way to get him in favorable matchups with in-game adjustments, this performance is going to become more and more of a regular occurrence.
It’s not Austin’s scheme, it’s Tomlin’s. It’s how he keeps his job. The coordinator just becomes the scapegoat goat, Lebeau, Butler, Austin…rinse and repeatAgain they can’t X and O their way out of a paper bag. This is an old old problem not a one game episode. Austin should be canned yesterday he is as bad as Canada. Just bad. And they can take the scheme with them.
They couldn’t stop a cold out there just one of the worst performances on D. And we know the guilty parties.I swear I saw Wilson covering a WR at least once tonight. Another Tomlin staple.
Well Hayward didn't even play tonight so I don’t know what you expect him to do.Offense bounced back from two turnovers and did enough to win. Yet another poor performance by the defense. There are individually talented players, but it's a unit that depends on generating pressure and Watt/Herbig/Highsmith were invisible. On top of that, the defense needs a leader like Rodgers--Heyward has never been the type of leader who will not tolerate these types of performances.
If you believe that this is Austin's defense.Again they can’t X and O their way out of a paper bag. This is an old old problem not a one game episode. Austin should be canned yesterday he is as bad as Canada. Just bad. And they can take the scheme with them.
It is Tomlin’s scheme and Austin and Mike calling the D. You take Mike off the D and can Austin. It’s not Austin’s scheme, it’s Tomlin’s. It’s how he keeps his job. The coordinator just becomes the scapegoat goat, Lebeau, Butler, Austin…rinse and repeat
Huh?Well Hayward didn't even play tonight so I don’t know what you expect him to do.
you are correct. What would you have done different? The Bengal receivers were better. The Steelers played man, they played zone, nothing worked. Nobody on defense made plays.
It is both but you have to start somewhere. If you believe that this is Austin's defense.
Some would call it silly but sure I would hand over the D to Arthur. No question about it.Can Arthur Smith coach defense too?
You can see the difference between a good coach and bad between Smith and Tomlin/Austin. Smith's offense struggled last year because he had crap QBs, a poor OL, and 1 malcontent WR to work with. As soon as he gets a QB and 1 decent WR, he's able to gameplan to work around an under performing OL and score points using extra OL and 3 TEs. He's getting the max out of these guys.
Contrast that with Tomlin's defense where they get the least out of the most talented defense in the league. Once again, the defense comes down to get a sack or get burned.
I can't even blame the DBs in this one. You sent them on mission impossible to single Jamar Chase all night.
This team must have a new DC next year and he can't be a puppet of Tomlin.
Is TJ Watt hurt? He was almost non-existent except for one play. Cam Heyward had a sack, but he looked fat and slow most of the night. I remember when Joel Steed's legs went. He was great one year, then gone. The game plan was complete **** on defense. Just let Chase and Higgins run free all night. I would rather see them get beaten in man-to-man coverage. At least you get to hammer them on the line. That was the softest coverage I have ever seen. *******.
31 points usually results in a W1 good thing to see receivers torch us is now we are forced to trade for a Big-time wide receiver 2
It’s gonna happen
The only way that happens is if Tomlin retires. Steelers can't fire the Rooney Rule coach. Can Arthur Smith coach defense too?

They lost their last 4 games. LOL, the idea that those bums were some unstoppable force coming into this game is nonsense. Coaching matters. In 3 weeks, we will be right back in the pack with the rest of the division. Bank on it.I know what you are saying, and it would have credence if they actually stopped the other guys. Everyone was open. The Bengals just would have gone somewhere else.
which is why any coach would adjust the scheme, like all the other teams that beat the bungles do.I guess. I just saw two players in Chase and Higgins that were heads and shoulders better than anyone trying to cover them.
I sure didn't see him out thereHuh?
