You could give him enough guaranteed money with easy outs to follow in years two and three. There will be very few starting options after this season and no drafted QB. People have said he won't go with Will Howard. I realize it's two games but Willis not only can run, but has pretty good touch, throws off a variety of platforms and looks pretty poised. What would be the point of bringing Rogers back for another Wildcard run.

I don't know what has happened with Willis recently, but he has looked excellent over the last two weeks. I didn't want the Steelers to touch this guy with a 10-foot pole on draft day, and I know it's a small sample, but it looks like he may have turned the corner and unlocked some of that potential MT was so enamored with.

I’m all in on Malik. He was good last year too. You can’t watch him and not be impressed with his arm strength, accuracy and pocket awareness. They need to outbid the other teams and sign him.

I think he simply is being coached up with a new team and came into the league raw.

Teams just aren’t patient with these new QBs. But often they take time to develop.

Not sure the Steelers will be willing to pay him what he's ultimately going to get.

There's a lot of risk there. Not just due to the limited track record of good play, but there may be durability issues with him as well.

People are complaining about DKs contract. Imagine if they give Willis all that guaranteed money only for him to struggle to meet expectations.

For as enamored as Tomlin supposedly was with Willis during the draft process, they went with Pickett instead.

I'm convinced a lot of QB busts have been a product of being forced onto the field too soon.

One of the reasons the Packers have had the run of franchise QBs they've had is that they haven't been afraid to draft their next QB several years before they move on from their current guy.

It also helps having offensive coaches like Holmgren, McCarthy and Lefleur developing guys like Favre, Rodgers and Love.

Oh they definitely have a good approach. I would go farther and say teams should always keep QB on their BPA radar and not limit themselves in drafting one. Even if they have a franchise under center. Having two good QBs is never a problem…

He’s got a lot of talent AND more importantly GB is helping him develop that talent. Some HCs know how to develop QBs.

LaFleur knows how, Mike does not

Willis would look like a far inferior player as a Steeler. Certainly hope a team that knows how to use him makes the move rather than the Steelers.

You know we I say we as they are our team as much as their team.

We can’t hold back acquiring players because we think Mike won’t know how to use them. We wouldn’t build talent with that approach.

We are on the same page with wanting a new crew. It just isn’t going to happen.. yet.

Is the alternative to go with Rudy? No thank you.

Willis is further developed than say Howard so from that perspective don’t you really want the best man for the job now? As now being next season.

The way I see it you have Willis, Mills, Mac Jones as gap options.

As Steelers are arguably worse at developing talent than using talent already developed correct?

Other than AA Ron retiring I really don’t see any other approach.

He's doing this in a Matt LeFleur offense, do you think he's even throwing those beautiful seam routes under Tomlin/Smith? They didn't take advantage of Fields' running when they had him, they'd play it safe with MW, too.

For Willis' sake, let him go to a team with a young offensive mind at HC.

Meh, Id shy away from guys like willis.. yeah he has a couple good backup games stats wise, but he hasnt ever had a 4th quarter comeback in his career... he didnt win either of his starts this year...

He stats up but plays in an extremely qb friendly system...

Hed be worth the risk if it wasnt a season a bunch of teams will be bidding on him...
tying big money long term to a guy like that is excessively risky... more of those backup with good numbers fail than even turn out ok elsewhere...

I mentioned Willis as an option in November because the Steelers circle back on guys they scout during the draft process.

I know he’s the hot name after last night, I just don’t think that’s enough that will command an insane contract. Maybe I’m way off base, but only a handful of starts in the LaFleur offense. Does he even get Justin Fields money? You’re all sounding like someone is gonna pay him $30-40 million next year.

Oh none of them should warrant an insane contract if so yeah you let other teams take that on.

It’ll be interesting to see how much the team he signs with is willing to invest in him but Willis made himself a lot of money the past two weeks.

He has proved nothing to earn more than backup money.

All I know is he played well enough to win that game. I also believe if he didn’t remove himself from the game that the Packers would’ve pulled that game out.
Isn’t it funny how the NFL has a way of keeping every game interesting in somewayuntil the final game of the season?

He should take the league minimum for the chance to play in Pittsburgh. That's an honor not many people get.

Or at least that's how it used to feel

Malik Willis could be an option in 2026 however it is in the best interest of the Pittsburgh Steelers to see what they have in Will Howard to see if he could be the guy.

I'd hate to see the Steelers take another high draft pick QB in 2026 without seeing what we already have.

If I'm the Steelers in 2026 they need to draft WR #1 overall and then go ILB, CB.

I’m not sure how I feel about Willis. He would thrive in Arthur Smiths offense if he is here next year (if he’s not I’d love to see them take a swing at Antwan Randle El-but that’s for another post) and try and draft Carnell Tate or Denzel Boston in the 1st and try and target Jordan Davis. You could have a heck of a team

I saw a large percentage of his success off rpo and using the middle of the field.

I don’t think that translates to the Tomlinized version of the AS offense…just another square peg

Rodgers returning would give us a better chance imo.

I think Willis would be on par with a Rudy, Will or any number of day 1-2 picks in this draft and not a noticeable upgrade.

He’s like a lighter version of Fields and we saw how that experiment went. I wouldn’t touch him with a 10 foot pole if Mike is still the HC. It would be yet another overpay for a square peg.

Hopefully the kid is smart enough to choose a good destination to continue his ascent in his career…seems like a good kid.

I’d expect a two year 40-50 million deal could get it done with incentives

It is a QB driven league

Jones got 15 million on a 1 year prove it deal
Darnold 3 years 100 million
Geno got 2 years 75 mill

I’d expect a QB starved team could land somewhere between these numbers for a potential franchise QB with untapped potential and room to grow.

He has proved nothing to earn more than backup money.

Yet he has proved FAR FAR more than 1 Will Howard who many seem to think the Steelers should feel comfortable in handing the pursuit of a Tomlinship over to.

His tape is definitely far superior to Will Howard’s resume of being an IR name/clipboard holder.

Should be an interesting off season to see if they continue the duct tape method they’ve been using or if they finally get proactive about building for a competitive future. I’m guessing they are who we think they are and they continue to employ the duct tape method.

Will he agree to play for league minimum just for the opportunity to play for and learn under the greatest players coach of all time...Mike Tomlin? I think he will. He is that smart.
