Since he split before his contract was up, the Steelers still retain his rights, correct? So, if he takes a year off and then takes another gig, what's the going rate for a draft pick ala Payton?
No thanks. There’s a few videos coming out about what he’s really like by quite reputable people. The recent one by Ryan Fitzpatrick. I want an OC guy for a change. With a very reputable DC.I would consider Brian Flores too
First the decision seemed very quick for Mikes decision very very quick.I will say one thing here. I have no idea if Mr. Rooney initiated this. But he definitely gets bailed out here. I will readily admit that I’ve wanted CMT gone for years. But I’ve placed the blame on ownership. What’s Mike supposed today when they keep on renewing his contract with raises? Blame a lot on the owner for letting this get this far.
I think this exit had been discussed for months between everyone.First the decision seemed very quick for Mikes decision very very quick.
And now the Steelers can actually get something for him if a team is interested. I hear Cleveland and the rats have openings.![]()
That would be kinda messed up. Hairball to Cleveland, Tomlin to Baltimore and Stefanski here (ugh) ... really makes me wanna throw up. Well, mostly the Stefanski here partFirst the decision seemed very quick for Mikes decision very very quick.

Because if a ROONEY of the ROONEY RULE ROONEYS were to fire a minority head coach, who never had a losing season, and replace him with a non-minority head coach, you could bet your *** that it would come under criticism, fair or not.why the f uck would feel the need to say this?
From some people on the fringes-yes you’re right.Because if a ROONEY of the ROONEY RULE ROONEYS were to fire a minority head coach, who never had a losing season, and replace him with a non-minority head coach, you could bet your *** that it would come under criticism, fair or not.
And I doubt we will ever know, at least not from the Rooneys.Slash, I was thinking the same thing, very quick decision.
There are so many possibilities surrounding this.
Was it Tomlin’s decision?
Was it a mutual decision?
Did they tell him if he stays things would be different? Meaning we’re hiring a new DC and he will run his own defense.
Idk could be any one of these things.
Right, I saw this on FB then immediately came here to see if it was true.I thought this was a joke thread or something. Thank you god. Now I don't have to take up watching free style badminton next season.
Pinching myself.
Dude, I’m just giddy today after this news. And I doubt we will ever know, at least not from the Rooneys.
If Tomlin wants to coach again he will be tight lipped too, maybe in Tomlin’s autobiography someday
The Rooney Rule IS about DEI. I don’t care the race of the next head coach either, but if they had fired Tomlin there would’ve been pressure to hire another minority or be met with widespread criticism.I don't give a flying **** the race of the next head coach

Pyrite years. The times In the last seven or so years where I thought they were contending.
Covid year when they one all those games only to completely **** bed in playoffs.
After KPs first season where it appeared they gained some traction.
They went on a nice little run last year when Russ took over. Using all parts of the field.
All those were either incredibly fleeting or fools gold or both.
I thought Mike looked like he aged 10 years over the last couple seasons. He’s human, you can’t help reading a few fans press clippings. Most will disagree with me,but I really think the fireMike Tomlin echoing around the stadium bothered him. Not that he would ever admit it if true. The blowing kisses and chest thumping was like a **** you to the fans that wanted him out. The problem was those chest thumping victories were always followed by total crap defeats. You could feel it in his demeanor at press conferences. He just didn’t want to go through the same old process again.First the decision seemed very quick for Mikes decision very very quick.

in your mind.....The Rooney Rule IS about DEI. I don’t care the race of the next head coach either, but if they had fired Tomlin there would’ve been pressure to hire another minority or be met with widespread criticism.
He'll take 17 more posts to convince no one that he understands better than everyone. Enjoy!I don't give a flying **** the race of the next head coach

I wish him no ill will. I’ve said for years we needed a breath of fresh air. I’m sure he does too.
