Per Jerry Dulac, Steelers told Tomlin’s coaches they are free to pursue other opportunities if they desire.
Also read that it’s possible that Mikey T. could have input in the pursuit of a new head coach.
Don’t know how true that is but read that from Charlie Batch comment.

I think they need to clean the house.

I also hope they are not dumb enough to take tomlin advice on the new hire.

Let tomlin speak in passing and humor him, but make your own dang mind up on who to hire.

This tomlin influence is what got them to where they are now.

NEW breath, NEW life, NEW culture, NEW scheme, NEW everything.

When Noll came in, he cleaned house

When Cowher came in, Dan helped him arrange a staff, but they kept Dick Hoak in place.

When Tomlin came on board, he had to keep Lebeau,
And the bulk of the defensive coaches and a couple offensive ones.. but he was allowed to bring some of his guys, like Fitchner and the strength and conditioning guy..

Personally , I'd have kept Faulkner , the RB coach, and Denzel Martin, the olb guy...

This is BEYOND retarded, if true.
"Hey, horrible failed playoff coach? Help us pick a winner."
GTFOH with that nonsense.

Keep in mind that I read this but have absolutely no clue if it’s true.
A lot of **** gets thrown around in situations like this and it could just be that.
I ******* hope it’s not true!

I seriously doubt it. Rooney mentioned who was front lining the search.

When Noll came in, the Steelers were 22 years removed from their only playoff appearance (i.e. they made the current Browns look good).

When Cowher came in the Steelers were on a run of 1 playoff appearance in seven years, so it was logical to move a lot of staff on.

When Tomlin came in the Steelers were only 1 year removed from a Super Bowl win with a solid structure in place and Cowher had clearly resigned due to his wife's health, so no need to make significant change.

Now, the Steelers, whilst not where they were in 1969, have been in a rut with scheme and player development (especially on O and run D) for some time, so it makes sense to clean house, and let the new guy build his own coaching staff.

Noll entered with completely new coaching staff. Cowher's staff was all new except for RB coach Dick Hoak. Dan Rooney informed Cowher that he could hire who he wanted but Hoak was a lifer. Granted, at Noll's time coaching staff's weren't nearly as big as they are now.
Tomlin inherited Cowher's entire coaching staff except for three people:
RB coach Dick Hoak retired when Cowher did.
Arians had been the WR coach and was promoted to OC when Whisenhunt left to be HC of the Cardinals.
Randy Fichtner was hired as WR coach to replace Arians.

his final input around town was the one that knocked that bartender up

Yeah I heard that about the bartender but the same thing happened when Cowher left when stories were going around about him and woman in the Steeler’s offices.
Also, remember when Corky was here. For those who don’t know, Corky was Kordell Stewart.
Stories circulated about him and his sexual preferences.
I just don’t take much stock in those stories.

He would probably work for a year's worth of Hubba Bubba ............ but Tampa would still be get short changed

Agree Paul, Bubbles hasn’t been a very good ST’s coach for a very long time. Players out of position to many times, players not knowing the rule book to many times, bad prep for in game injuries, to mention a few.

For getting 1-3 special teams Ace’s every year for roster spots, he has yet to even broach on a decent kick/punt return man or plan. Always seem to be an afterthought on player and in game player delaying like he has to think about what he has to do/

That’s his entire career here, if not for Tomlin’s friend……………….

I mentioned elsewhere that I have a relative who is now retired after a 40 year career in the Pittsburgh news media.
He believes that both things you mentioned are untrue. He can't say for certain that Cowher didn't have an affair with a Steelers secretary but he was in a position to know if it was true and he does not believe it. If it was true, he would probably know about it.
He says the rumor about Corky is absolutely 110% false.

I texted him the news link regarding Shades last night since he has retired to Florida and he already replied asking for more verification. He did text back a  though.
