Steelers hiring McCarthy

Kentucky didn't mention ICE.....so you would be wrong. Keep the political slant in the proper forum. Not hard. Rather simple actually. That is why we have a political forum.
Kentucky actually did, however, mention DEI and all that jazz. So, you're right in that they should both keep the politcal stuff in the political forum.

DEI and the Rooney rule could be argued a blended mix perhaps...... While I don't think or agree it is....one could make an argument on it. Hence the link to the football forum. ICE has nothing to do with the football forum.

I'm at a loss about the HC hire. He must have had some incriminating evidence on Rooney.

I'm sorry, but this does not invigorate the fan base and I doubt it does for the team either.

Why go away from the standard of hiring a young up and coming guy to go with a retread coach?

The only thing I can think of is

  • He told them he'd work for free
  • They want him to develop Howard for a couple of years
  • They plan to draft a QB high this year they want him to develop
  • They feel the team is super bowl ready and only needs a vet coach to get them across the finish line

This move makes absolutely zero sense to me. It's not to bring Rodgers back either for anyone thinking that since I think Rodgers was a main reason he was fired from Green Bay.

I guess it's time to take a deep breath and see how things play out. If it's anything like Dallas and his last few years at Green Bay it will be high expectations, but coming up short.

You might want to go back and read Kentucky's posts. I don't have a dog in the fight, but, they seemed less to do with football and more to do with politics and trying to antagonize one particular poster. Either way, I don't care ... It's stupid and childish.

We hired McCarthy and I'm still so happy that Tomlick is GONE and that I can watch an actual offense that I had some homemade wings and a cold Paulaner Hefeweizen to celebrate. To the future without Tomchump!

@bermudasteel

Welp....Poetic Justice for you clowns that kept referring to Tomlin as a DEI hire and showed 100% disrespect at his leaving. I dont believe in karma, but I do believe you reap what you sow.
This clearly shows you’re not a Steeler fan, just here to antagonize people- coming as a surprise to no one

So this means you’re leaving right???

There’s the door beat it troll

Clown.

You’re still stuck on Tomlin not what’s happening now.

Bermudasteel was right about you: Tomlin Derangement Syndrome

We make a HC hire and you’re still complaining about Tomlin….kinda obsessive donthcha think???

I don’t understand why we couldn’t wait to interview Sheelhause and Shula until next week. The only way this makes sense is if both of those guys let it be known they didn’t want to coach here, and that would half to be because there is some flaw in the way the Rooneys are running the organization. We will probably never know the truth

I’m pissed, something stinks.

There is a lot of discouragement in this new hire.

I have to accept and now make him my team’s coach.

I think Rooney wouldn’t be able to keep up with a young up & comer who would be installing a whole new up-dated scheme.

I also think Art 2 has made it harder and farther to watch Steelers football.

Until Art 2 steps down to hand the team off to a younger leader, this team will go no where.

Keep in mind that McCarthy could surprise us and actually lead us somewhere.

I think you pretty much summed it all up when you said McCarthy isn’t an inspiring hire who’s going to win a SB.
Most in the national sports media were looking for that inspiring hire, that young innovative guy to lead this organization into today’s game.
Hiring Mike who is certainly not a bad coach, it’s just a blah kind of hire.
It’s a boring, lazy, uninspiring kind of hire.
The offense has a good chance to be better though.
