Iran

Even though I think this venture into Iran at Israel's behest was a horrible idea, if we're being honest, Trump faces blowback for everything, good, bad or indifferent. As soon as he says or does anything, every liberal communist in America goes into a full meltdown about how it is the worst thing ever. Look at how everyone went nuts when Trump got an extra scoop of ice cream.

Liberals were besides themselves,...the audacity of him becoming president.

And good God in heaven who the **** eats fried chicken with a fork?

Tankers through the strait. Probably a back deal to allow air access, refueling, or other strategic action behind the scenes. 10D chess.

I wonder when MAGA supporters will begin to raise hell about Trump lifting sanctions on the Islamic Republic, allowing Iran to sell $14 billion dollars worth of oil, thus funding their war effort. Same thing he's done for Russia.

From historian Heather Cox Richardson:
Did you ever raise hell about Obama and Biden giving them billions to stop enriching uranium which they continued to do for the entirety of their presidencies? I must have missed that.

$1.7 billion, not $101 billion, though I know facts and reality don't have much traction in your world.
He gave them 1.7, he and Biden also gave them access to hundreds of billions in frozen assets and sanction relief. While they continually refused inspections and violated their part of the agreement over and over. But it was the greatest deal ever made according to some people.
You seem to ignore facts and reality that don’t fit your narrative.

Let's check in on how Trump's "regime change" is going in Iran.

Some Iran experts and politicians from the country’s reformist movement argue that the killings have ushered more hard-line figures into top posts.

The slain head of Iran’s National Security Council, Ali Larijani, was seen as more pragmatic than the man appointed to replace him, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr. The new commander in chief of the Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, is also seen as more radical than his predecessor, and the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as supreme leader was seen as a victory by hard-liners against backers of more moderate candidates.

Trump Claims ‘Regime Change’ in Iran Is Already Complete

Read what the **** was said. Obama ALLOWED Iran to have $101 billion by lifting the sanctions.
Thats what we call facts.

Crazy, what could be achieved through diplomacy. Unlimited access by international observers to their nuclear facilities, to confirm and ratify adherence to nuke deal.

The Obama administration agreed to lift sanctions on Iran that had devastated their economy for years, in return Iran promised to give up their nuclear capabilities and allow workers from the UN to do facility checks whenever they so please.

so Tibs is more concerned with the $14 billion in oil (allegedly) than he is the $101+billion that Obama allowed Iran to have.

interesting.

you mean THESE international observers from the IAEA? These?

G. Summary 48. To date, Iran has not provided to the Agency any report on the status for safeguards purposes of the nuclear facilities affected by the military attacks of June 2025 and associated nuclear material, or provided access to these facilities as required under its NPT Safeguards Agreement.

Therefore, the Agency was unable to discharge its safeguards responsibilities at these facilities in Iran. Consequently, the Agency cannot verify the status, for safeguards purposes, of these affected nuclear facilities and associated nuclear material.

49. Overall, the Agency cannot verify:
• whether Iran has suspended all enrichment-related activities, including research and development;
• whether Iran has suspended all reprocessing activities;
• the size of Iran’s uranium stockpile at the affected facilities;
• whether Iran has suspended work on all heavy water-related projects;
• Iran’s inventories of centrifuges and related equipment.

In addition, Iran is not implementing the modified Code 3.1 of the Subsidiary Arrangements General Part, nor is it implementing the Additional Protocol. Moreover, in light of Iran’s continued unwillingness to address the unresolved safeguards issues, the Agency has outstanding concerns about the possible presence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran.

50. The Director General has emphasized to Iran that it is indispensable and urgent to implement effectively the NPT Safeguards Agreement, which remains in force, and that its implementation cannot be suspended by Iran under any circumstances.

51. While the Agency acknowledged that the military attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities had created an unprecedented situation, it is critical for it to conduct verification activities in Iran without any further delay in accordance with the NPT Safeguards Agreement and, as required, under the relevant provisions of Security Council and Board resolutions.

52. Within the group of affected facilities, it is a matter of increasing concern that Iran has never provided the Agency with access to its fourth declared enrichment facility since it was first declared by Iran in June last year.

53. Iran is the only NPT non-nuclear-weapon State to have produced and accumulated uranium enriched up to 60% U-235, of which it had accumulated 440.9 kg by the time of the military attacks in mid-June 2025. The Agency’s lack of access to verify the previously declared HEU and LEU, for over eight months – which is long overdue according to standard safeguards practice – is a matter of proliferation concern GOV/2026/8 Page 11 and of compliance with the NPT Safeguards Agreement. The Agency’s loss of continuity of knowledge over all previously declared nuclear material at affected facilities in Iran needs to be addressed with the utmost urgency.

54. The Director General notes that once again Iran has not engaged the Agency during this reporting period on the unresolved safeguards issues.

55. The Director General calls on Iran to engage the Agency constructively in order to facilitate the full and effective implementation of safeguards in Iran in accordance with the NPT Safeguards Agreement and implement the relevant provisions of Security Council and Board resolutions.

56. On 17 and 26 February 2026, the Director General was in attendance at the negotiations between the United States of America and Iran, in which he provided advice on issues relevant to the verification of Iran’s nuclear programme. The bilateral negotiations are ongoing and are without prejudice to Iran’s obligations under its NPT Safeguards Agreement. A successful outcome of these negotiations would have a positive impact on the effective implementation of safeguards in Iran and the resolution of issues described in this report. Technical discussions will take place in Vienna in the week beginning 2 March 2026.

57. The Director General will continue to report as appropriate.
as one smarmy poster did say:
facts and reality don't have much traction in your world

you mean THESE international observers from the IAEA? These?

No, of course not. This seems to be from 2026, long after Trump belligerently tore up the international agreement with Iran on May 8, 2018.

The JCPOA was implemented January 16, 2016 after the IAEA reported that Iran had made the necessary changes to its nuclear program and granted the IAEA the access necessary to verify the agreement. In exchange, the United States and other world powers agreed to waive nuclear-related sanctions.

In 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal. Despite periodic attempts to revive the deal since then, Iran accelerated its uranium enrichment, limited inspector access to its nuclear facilities and is now closer to developing a nuclear weapon than before the deal. The demise of the JCPOA brought uncertainty both for the future of nuclear negotiation with Iran and the international community who now lack insight into potential developments in Iran’s nuclear program.

Crazy, what could be achieved through diplomacy. Unlimited access by international observers to their nuclear facilities, to confirm and ratify adherence to nuke deal.
But the Iranians did not stop their uranium enrichment, lied about a secret program -- all after Bomma sent them cash and allowed access to well over $100 B.

The Iranians were exposed in 2018 as non-compliant, in spite of IAEA inspections (of only the compliant facilities), and the Biden administration agreed and held this hard line until 2023, when Potato Autopen sent them more $$$$$ --- Billions more, after the Iranians had admitted enrichment of over 83%.
You forgot to mention those points, and you forgot to mention that Biden allowed the Iranians to contract with Russians for more nuclear reactors--while supplying Ukranians to fight against Russia!

And you forgot that all of Iran's neighboring states, just like today, sided with Israel's harsh criticism of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile development.

Your self-diagnosed TDS is really flaring!

Maybe switch to some lies about Hungary's strong protector Orban?

so, 2018 and this is 2026... and you want to whine about something that happened EIGHT years ago? maybe, just maybe if there was say a change in administration, legal or not, between that time frame stated previously (2018 - 2026) and that administration had done something to further suggest to the Iranian regime to discourage their pursuit of nuclear "energy" then we'd not be in this particular quagmire?

Though, you're immediately going to seize on "blame Biden" but that's just a part of the issue.

The MAIN issue is the IAEA was NOT being allowed to perform their missions. Which leads to an unsafe area around Iran - and an unsafe world overall when (not if) Iran did successfully develop a nuke.

but, continue to whine and complain that something is being done now. US oil prices doesnt effect you at all.

The MAIN issue is the IAEA was NOT being allowed to perform their missions.

The plain facts state the opposite.

Before the U.S. withdrawal in May 2018, international inspectors and U.S. intelligence agencies broadly agreed that the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) was working as intended regarding its core nuclear restrictions.

Evidence of Compliance
According to reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the U.S. Department of State at the time:
  • IAEA Verification: The IAEA repeatedly certified that Iran was implementing its nuclear-related commitments. As of May 2018, Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile remained below the 300 kg limit, and its enrichment levels did not exceed the 3.67% cap.
  • U.S. Certification: The Trump administration itself issued certifications in April and July 2017 confirming that Iran was in compliance with the deal's technical terms.
  • Operational Restrictions: Iran had dismantled roughly 13,000 centrifuges and rendered its Arak heavy-water reactor inoperable. Experts noted that the "breakout time"—the time needed to gather enough fissile material for one weapon—had increased from 2–3 months before the deal to over 12 months under its terms.

IAEA Report Confirms Iran’s Compliance with the JCPOA

The plain facts state the opposite.

IAEA Report Confirms Iran’s Compliance with the JCPOA

Hey, grab me a large black to go, please.

And get one for yourself too, and read this site to educate yourself on Iran's deception of Bomma et al, and the reason Trump took action in 2018.

A little bit of research into how tge Biden Admin handled Iran and it's nuke ambitions confirms this, at least until the left turn and cash payments resumed.

Enjoy, glad to help your education about global events:

interesting.

It's not interesting at all. It's utterly predictable.

He and Flog are the kings of selective outrage.

Holy brainwashing Batman. Read that sentence out loud that you just typed, then tell us Iran allowed this to happen.

The FACTS are that they hid uranium and prevented inspections the entire time after this ridiculous deal was negotiated.

You truly believe Iran lived up to it's commitments on this? Dear God. It's not the politicians that are the problem, it's the people that vote for and support them.

The JCPOA allowed inspectors access to DECLARED nuclear sites. "Here, come on in boys. Swear, we ain't doing nuffin' anywhere else."
The JCPOA did NOT allow complete, unrestricte, anytime/anywhere access, ESPECIALLY to suspected undeclared or military sites.
After 2018, Iran's compliance even with the highly limited stipulations deteriorated significantly.

Go pour someone another soy decaf and stay out of the facts business.

Damn.

$400,000,000,000 has been wiped out of the US stock market in the last 60 minutes. Market isn't buying Trump's peace talks now.

Hope this was all worth it. Netanyahu has been itching for this war for decades. He finally found a President willing to go down the rabbit hole with him. Now we'll be putting American troops in harm's way on the ground in Iran to do Israel's bidding. Not sure how this serves the interests of Americans, but here we are.
