Day 3 Rounds 4 - 7

They wanted a returner and they got a returner, probably paid a premium to guarantee their guy, same as allar and Max Nacho I guess. But at least we know the kid is productive and is an immediate starter

I wouldn't necessarily call it a reach when reflecting on how this draft is going. This is considered a generally weak draft class, so the range any player may be picked is huge this year, and I don't think the consensus board projections are as accurate as usual. Teams are simply who they like/want today, regardless of what any so-called draft gurus think.

This was a position (return specialist) that the team desperately needed, and with only one other pick in the next 100+, I think they just decided to take the best returner in the draft now so they didn't miss him. He'll also add a little threat of the jet-sweep/trick play into the O. I like the player, like the pick.

Wetjen is a good returner in college with mediocre speed. Will that translate to the NFL? Is he worth a 4th-round pick just to be a return specialist when we have other pressing needs? I guess we will find out.
What are the pressing needs? They addressed the OL, WR, DB. They stated early on they wanted someone that could be a dynamic returner, something we haven't had in a LONG time...

Arizona taking Love at 3 is an even worse pick now that you look at how the RBs haven fallen in this draft. Raiders just too Mike Williams from Ark who is 223 lbs and ran 4.33. They got him in rd 4.

Either the bama dt or if Benny from cum is still available

Spending a 4th round pick on a 5-9, 185 punt returner seems to be a gross example of asset mismanagement to me.

This is Omar's Dri Archer pick, a similar over-reach for a guy who could be had much later - or someone like him.

I thought Omar did a good job in the prior 2 drafts of improving this roster. This draft looks to be a complete train wreck of overreaching on long-term projects.

Did he start partying with Cash Patel?

121. Steelers: Kaden Wetjen, WR, Iowa

Grade: C

Wetjen's selection is a perfect opportunity to remind everyone that this stage of the draft is used to address multiple objectives. Wetjen has ample experience in the return game and provides special teams value for a team that already has its top three receivers entrenched.
