Cam, rising or falling………………..HOF ?

Good question — Cam Heyward is definitely the heart of the Steelers' defense, with three first-team All-Pros and six Pro Bowls. But for the Hall of Fame, that bar is sky-high, especially for DTs. He might need a Super Bowl ring or a few more dominant years to seal it. Right now, he's in the Hall of Very Good, but another strong season or two could change the conversation. I appreciate Cam and his work here in Pittsburgh. I love watching him eat blocks. He will be nominated, I don’t feel he will get in.

If Cam could live up to his hype, get about 8 1/2 -10 sacks, make the pro-bowl all in this season…………….

I think it would go a long way for his case of HOF worthy.

That 100 sacks club could be his key.

Agreed

With ZERO playoff success and being the captain of a defense that generally folds when it counts he has to hit one of those milestone numbers to help his case.

He has a game or two a year where he looks dominant, 3-5 a year in his prime. He’s not a game wrecker for 2/3rds of the season even in his prime.

4 first team All Pro, 2 2nd team. 92 career sacks from an IDL. The MOY stuff will help as the assclownery will hurt someone like AB.

Cam’s HOF comp is Andy Dalton imho
Good, but disappears when it matters
If Cam is in on his body of work already I’d be shocked, but heck it is participation trophy generation nowadays

Is Andy Dalton a HOFer? Maybe I have too high of standards

Was Andy Dalton a 6-time All Pro?

I think he'll make it, especially if he plays long enough to hit 100 sacks. Not only has he been a terrific run defender, but his pass rush totals with 92 sacks is right on the mark for the average HOF DT. He's also been at or near the best at his position (top 3) for nearly a decade. IMO, Heyward and Watt will both make the HOF without ever winning a playoff game.
Heyward has won many playoff games. Just not in a decade

The "heart" of the defense? Really?

I think he gets in the HOF. It may take a few years, but he is a monster in there. I can't remember seeing anyone better at blocking passes. I think his longevity at such a high level gets him in.
The bestest "pass blocker".......ever!!!! HOF here Cam comes!!!!🙄

Yep....ONE playoff game for him.....as a back up during his rookie season. He has been a dominant factor during the playoffs. HOF .......he Cam comes!!!

Horrible locker room leader. Horrible playoff success. Maybe 100 sacks. HOFer? 🤔

Exactly

He already got his hardware
His WPMOY

He needs to produce to get in the hall
And since playoffs has been zilch
He needs that milestone number…

Or the HOG can come knocking with an Orange jacket for him

No, Heyward's one playoff win was the infamous January 2016 Bengals game. His rookie year the Steelers lost the Wild card game against Denver.

The Heyward-Dalton comp may have genuinely been the worst comparison I've ever seen in my life.

May have also been a little “sarcasm” comparison in there as well……………….

It was a little tongue in cheek to start
Then I did some digging to check myself

in actuality Dalton is in the mid 20s in some all time major passing stats like yards and TDs (24th and 26th)

Heyward in the high teens- mid twenties

Both absolutely suck when it counts

After just a touch of research I’d double down given the QB preference of the league to say Cam is a HOF…AS LONG AS Andy Dalton is too.

Cam just a smidge above Dalton on their all time rankings, Dalton playing the more important position, both being their “team leader” for their side of the ball, both being absolutely abysmal in their playoff appearances

Yup…zero sarcasm this time
Cam is INDEED…Andy Dalton+
But plus by the tiniest of margins and equal due to the QB bias of the league and the Steeler hate of the HOF

Dalton has spent alot of his career as a backup. Cam has not

I haven’t looked it up, but I’d believe that Andy has more playoff wins than Cam.

That may not be a “current day” requisite for HOF entry, but it was a part at one time.

The Bungles couldn’t have pizzed that game away in any better fashion than if they tried.

Hanging a HOF career on that would be the same as saying you only have a “touch” of _________(name STD).

It still counts. If they had won the super bowl that year he gets a ring
The front desk secretary also gets a Super Bowl ring...
Heyward wouldn't even take credit for participating in those two playoff wins in 2016.
