With the killing of Muammar Qaddafi in Libya today, can the GOP continue to say that President Obama is soft on terrorism? I fear that they probably will, and never give this president any credit for anything. Nonetheless, here is a list of some of the terrorist leaders that have threatened America’s security who have been dispatched during President Obama’s first term of office.
1. Muammar Qaddafi in Libya today
2. Osama bin Laden, killed in May 2011.
3. Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) leader Anwar al-Awlaki.
4. Al Qaeda’s chief of Pakistan operations, Abu Hafs al-Shahri, was killed in Waziristan, Pakistan.
5. In August, ‘Atiyah ‘Abd al-Rahman, the deputy leader of al Qaeda was killed.
6. In June, one of al Qaeda’s most dangerous commanders, Ilyas Kashmiri, was killed in Pakistan.
7. In Yemen that same month, three AQAP senior operatives Ammar al-Wa’ili, Abu Ali al-Harithi, and Ali Saleh Farhan were killed.
8. In Somalia, Al-Qa’ida in East Africa (AQEA) senior leader Harun Fazul was killed.
9. Administration officials also herald the recent U.S./Pakistani joint arrest of Younis al-Mauritani in Quetta.
10. Going back to August 2009, Tehrik e-Taliban Pakistan leader Baitullah Mahsud was killed in Pakistan.
11. In September 2009, Jemayah Islamiya operational planner Noordin Muhammad Top was killed in Indonesia
12. In September 2009 AQEA planner Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan was killed in Somalia.
13. In December 2009 in Pakistan, al Qaeda operational commanders Saleh al-Somali and ‘Abdallah Sa’id were killed.
14. In February 2010, in Pakistan, Taliban deputy and military commander Abdul Ghani Beradar was captured;
15. In February 2010, Haqqani network commander Muhammad Haqqani was killed
16. In February 2010, Lashkar-e Jhangvi leader Qari Zafar was killed.
17. In March 2010, al Qaeda operative Hussein al-Yemeni was killed in Pakistan
18. In March 2010, senior Jemayah Islamiya operative Dulmatin – accused of being the mastermind behind the 2002 Bali bombings – was killed during a raid in Indonesia.
19. In April 2010, al Qaeda in Iraq leaders Abu Ayyub al-Masri and Abu Omar al-Baghdadi were killed.
20. In May, al Qaeda’s number three commander, Sheik Saeed al-Masri was killed.

Three Americans, including two U.S. servicemen, rushed a gunman who opened fire aboard a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris on Friday afternoon, thwarting a potential massacre.
Alek Skarlatos said in an interview that his childhood friend, Spencer Stone, did not hesitate when he spotted the gunman holding what appeared to be a machine gun and tackled him.
"I saw a guy entering the train with an AK-47 and a handgun and I just looked over to Spencer and said, 'Let's go, go!'" said Skarlatos, a specialist with the Oregon National Guard.

Stone, an airman first class in the Air Force, reached the attacker first and grabbed him by the neck, Skarlatos said.
"I grabbed the handgun. Got the handgun away from the guy and threw it, and then I grabbed the AK-47, which was at his feet," he added.
"If anybody would have gotten shot it would have been Spencer for sure," he said. "We're very lucky that nobody got killed, especially Spencer."
Another American, Skarlatos' and Stone's friend Anthony Sadler, and a British man living in France, Chris Norman, jumped in to help, they said.

Tibs ... Quadaffi was not a sponsor of terrorism since the 1980's, and since Reagan had his home bombed in retaliation for Pan Am 103. In fact, the Arab Spring - the event that basically made Bammy stain his drawers with excitement - has yielded Islamic extremists in power in Libya, Yemen and Egypt. The Islamic extremists in Egypt were overthrown by a coup (thankfully), or things would be much, much worse.
Yet again, Obama completely misread foreign affairs. He believed that the Islamic nations would put in power peace-loving, altruistic leaders who held no ill will towards the United States, to the point that he ordered our military to bomb Quadaffi's troops in Libya. He was wrong, as always,* and instead of the hipsters taking over in Yemen, and Libya, and Egypt, the Islamic nutjobs took power. Fellowship with America? No, instead he oversaw regimes promising, "Death to America!"

Steeltime, I don't think Obama has handled a lot of things well when it comes to foreign policy. I do agree with his less is more approach and certainly prefer it to the warmongering neo-con approach we had previously. My post outlining all the terrorists he's taken out was just to off-set the argument he's weak or isn't willing to go after the enemy. Btw that's just an 'all star" list of the terrorist leaders from among 2,500 total operatives that have been hunted down and killed. He prefers tactical drone strikes as opposed to massive land wars. I happen to agree with him regardless of how much less money Haliburton and Brown & Root are able to siphon off. Of course there's bellyaching from conservatives, their answer to everything is war, war, war! We've lost enough men and women over the years fighting in the middle east. Don't think that's the answer. But I will reiterate, Obama has come up short on many aspects of foreign policy and certainly hasn't been able to move the needle forward in the middle east, joining a long line of presidents that came before him.

While many people can agree the war in Iraq was a mistake, leaving Iraq to become the mess it has become is also a mistake of at least as great if not greater magnitude. The world is not black and white, "less is more" or "war mongering", "war, war, war" or "peace peace peace". Each individual foreign policy issue has to be dealt with individually.Some situations require strength and force, some require diplomacy. Iraq has become unstable and that has created a much more dangerous world for a whole lot of people. Whether we should have gone into Iraq or not we had a duty to the people there and to the men and women who died trying to stabilize that country, not to let it fall into the hands of bloodthirsty radical Islamists. We totally dropped the ball. Obama's little drone strikes are doing nothing but drawing more radical ire and recruiting more terrorists. Eventually our failure to nip this problem in the bud will spill over through our porous borders, maybe then Democrats will stop whining about Bush and Halliburton and start facing the real and growing threat of radical Islam.

After 9/11, there were no incidents of domestic terrorism in the US until Bammy took office. Since, there have been 17. Might be 18 now. Yes, less is definitely more.
His foreign policy "less is more" approach has led to more terrorists owning more land and greater spheres of influence around the globe.

You have to include those numbers. See, when incidents such as the Charleston shooting are included as "Right Wing" terrorist attacks, then that means conversely black on white hate crimes must be lumped into the "Left Wing Terrorist Attacks Category."
Let me know when you've tabulated those numbers please - black on white hate crime killings since 9/11.
