The University of Missouri

I liked black people more when they used to beat someone's *** if they called them a racial slur. Now they expect the University President to do something about it and act like a little ******* if he doesn't.

No comment......^^^^^ that statement tells me all I need to know about where youre at in the social landscape of modern society. Cool bro....cool. SMH

I should also add that the public is exactly who these people are playing to, regardless of whether their complaints are legitimate or not. That is how you get the issues noticed and pressure put on.

When I was in college, there were blacks who walked around in t-shirts that read "It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand." Do you suppose they wanted to engage in open dialogue?

Whenever I see someone attempt to point out the double standards that exist regarding racism, they are dismissed as ignorant or racist with no explanation or argument. How is that open dialogue?

Did you ask the context of which the slogan was meant ? Did they explain it ? Did you accept the explanation ? Have you ever asked a black person, "what are your direct or personal experiences with racism ?"

There are many many well informed individuals that know the dynamics of racism, how it works, how it manifests, and why it even exist in modern culture. It didn't always exist. As a matter of fact there wasn't such thing as white race or black race or the discussion of race prior to the 19th century. Many have made the study of racism a big part of their professional lives, some writing books, doing documentaries or case studies etc. Others live it.....deal with it frequently. They are the real experts on racism.

But I don't want to get off topic. What happened in Columbia, Mo, why do you have a problem with it ? (president resigning)

Black or white, it is obvious we are raising a generation of victims.

Yeah, no doubt. It's amazing. No kid today would've made it out of the 70's and 80's with their balls intact.

What constitutes a student to feel "marginalized?" That seems to be the new buzzword. Everyone around us is marginalized except for those who exert white privilege....whatever that is.

That and "hurtful speech" being considered a crime worthy of calling the police. Nation of pansies...

I may be misunderstanding something here. Are you saying there was no racism prior to the 19th century? Or just no discussion?

P
You are ill informed then...way the **** off base............im not sure how you interpreted it as such but if you think that folks wanting to have a suitable learning environment that their white counterparts enjoy as wanting to have special treatment then your scale of perception is in need of serious calibration.

You took it all wrong my man.....actually its a reach.......to be honest, I don't why the hell you assumed that. But let me ask you a question and be honest with me.....how much daily exposure and open dialogue on race do you have with people of color ?

I work with around 3-4 thousand minorities daily. Have direct contact with 100-200 of those absolutely no issues at all. Had dinner with a couple this weekend who happen to be black. There opinion is the same as mine. Get over yourself and have a little thicker skin. They are in there mid 40's and talk about the things they endured some of what I witnessed first hand because I was there. But guess what they managed and are both educated and successful now. And are raising 3 kids to not be victims also. When they start say all this white privileges bullshit you totally lose my respect. In this country there isn't any right to not be offended. Get over yourself you aren't special.

I don't have any problems parsing anything. From the list of demands someone posted "acknowledgin his white privelege " was the very first thing listed. If that list is wrong, say so. If it is not, this makes me believe that it is possible that anything else they say may be blown out of proportion. When. You start with bullshit, what follows also usually smells.

I think you may need the one having trouble parsing issues. Having a **** ton of people join in means nothing withat regads to thensure validity ofor themail claims. It means the situation got enough media and hype to get people to join.

Maybe all their issues are legitimate. I don't know. I've seen too much media hype to jump in with both feet.

All issues are my cup of tea. I'm an intelligent, open minded thinker. Don't start with bullshit and I will listen. I grew up in South Arkansas. I've seen a lot of real racism and discrimination. I know it is there. I don't ignore it. I have to look no further than the edited Zimmerman phone call and picture to know the media makes these stories what they want them to be rather than what they are. If you don't like my attitude about it don't blame me, blame the media, and the "Reverends" Jackson and Sharpton. Everytime white person treats a black person like ****, it may not be racial, it might just be that the white guy is an *******.

You know what I see man......? Scripted, canned responses. I knew when I came to the God/Government forum that I would see a racially toned topic and with that I also knew the collective mindset would be just as what you've hinted at.......and the Zimmerman/Martin reference along with the Sharpton/Jackson reference. Listen, youre clueless if you believe all black people espouse Jackson or Sharpton as voices for all the black community. They aren't. You feel as though everything they SAY is representative of what all black folks feel. They don't.

You've seen racism in your neck of the woods.........I grew up not far from you in Oklahoma. Ive seen it. In my travels throughout the US, ive "experienced" it. My inlaws whom are the most conservative right wingers saw FIRSTHAND what its like for a black man to be racially profiled, TWICE. Its not that they didn't believe existed, they never thought theyd see it play out like "black folks" have suggested it happens.

Im a degreed professional. I have black family members that are doctors, attorneys, high ranking military officers and they can ALL share with you experiences..direct personal experiences with racism. Its not a crutch but regardless of our success (and theres millions of other like us) we still cant shake the element of skin color somehow coming into play whether we are shopping, driving nice vehicles, attending formal dining parties, someone thinks we don't belong.

But racism isn't always equated to "treating someone like ****....". Being turned down for a job or not being called for a job interview based on the name can be a form or racism. Charging a person more in finance cost or higher interest rates can be a form of racism. Being steered away from a certain class of residential property because of ethnicity is racism.

I should also add that the public is exactly who these people are playing to, regardless of whether their complaints are legitimate or not. That is how you get the issues noticed and pressure put on.

And whats your problem with that exactly ? You don't support their cause or agree with how theyre going about it ? Whats your solution...you can offer strong criticism but what would YOU suggest ? I mean if youre the expert on racial matters offer them your input on what the most effective means of rectifying this issue should be.

i don't know how anybody can see this Missouri situation and feel anything but scared about how this happened. This is crazy. The Mizz administrators did nothing wrong. The instigator of this whole situation didn't even have a real concrete complaint, just that he was called the N word while on campus.

What was supposed to be done about that unless they knew the person who did it?

Maybe it is for the best that this guy stepped down because he is obviously weak, but I don't know how anybody who values freedom can see the way this went down and feel like it's good precedent.

Get a few football players on your side and you can get your way with anything. I feel bad for athletes who will now be regularly deluged to support the cause of the day or else be called out as racist.

I may be misunderstanding something here. Are you saying there was no racism prior to the 19th century? Or just no discussion?

You are misunderstanding..... Race as its applied and employed today (used as a means to define by advantages or limitations with regards to melanin) with biological and sociological hierarchies wasn't employed pre 19th century.

You are making up **** I never said. You take one thing I said "treating someone like ****" and equate it to turning someone down for a job? Do you want to be sensible or spout bullshit? As I said if you want to spout bullshit I don't have time for you.

Charging more for interest might NOT be racism too, right? I'd bet the vast vast majority is not racially motivated or institutionalized racism/discrimination.

I'm using canned responses? Giving an actual example of the media hyping something as white on black is canned? Then I will just assume your "examples" of racism/discrimination are canned responses, too? Again, be reasonable and we can discuss. Otherwise I got no time for you.

I said those two race baiters speak for all black people? Oh, yeah I didn't. I said those leaders and the media hype have caused my cynicism. Those items have hurt your cause more than anything else.

I realize you don't give a ****, but as white as I am, I have been turned down for even the chance to interview for a job AND been steered away (delicately) from a certain area to live in, BECAUSE I am white. No biggie, though. My white privilege guided me through.

Again, where do you get the sense those kids at MIZZOU want special treatment ? Elaborate if you will...........

I responded to your claims about being treated like **** and made the comment to show racism IS MORE than just being treated like ****.....whats your problem ? And why the **** are you all "up in your feelings". You should chill.............really, dive down on your emotions a notch.

You should probably research the HISTORICAL trends of racism at the Univ of Mizzou to understand the culture existed for a while.......the president was given plenty of time to respond....2 months of pleading and nothing was done. Met by protestors at homecoming and he brushed them aside. Media didn't need to hype **** up. He made this hornets nest what it is........**** media. Show some humanity, do the right thing (as the presidents at Duke, Southern Miss and Oklahoma U did) and he wouldn't be in this conundrum.

Since he didn't. **** him..............hes responsible for where he is or isn't today................

I will have to think about this. Still don't think I understand the extent of what you are saying.

I need to dial down my emotions? You are the one making **** up. Of course I never said treating people like **** was all there was to racism. I was making the point that "if person 1 treats person 2 like ****, it doesn't mean that treatment was racially motivated, or motivated by anything other than that person is a dick." You read that to mean that i think treating people like **** is all there is to racism. And I'm the one having trouble parsing stuff out?

While I wasn't extending the phrase that far, I would consider the examples you gave as falling under the heading of "treating people like ****", btw.

Being turned down for a job or not being called for a job interview based on the name can be a form or racism. Charging a person more in finance cost or higher interest rates can be a form of racism. Being steered away from a certain class of residential property because of ethnicity is racism.

But how would anyone ever know? Does a prospective employer call a guy and say, "Well, you certainly seem qualified for this job, but your name sounds black so I am not going to hire / interview you."?

Is it possible that a person ends up with a higher interest rate because they have weak credit?

Sure, it could be racism. Absolutely. Unless a banker has told a person his/her interest rate is higher because of race or an employer told a prospective employee that he was turned down over race or a name that sounds black, it is nothing more than an assumption based on nothing more than emotion.

I do not deny racism exists. I witnessed it not too long ago in Roanoke Rapids. My son witnessed real racism for probably the first time in his young life that same day. Had a profound effect on him.

I get that real racism exists. But every slight against people of color is not racism and not all white people are racists who have anything based only on white privilege.

Pretty sure the irrationality just shines through on this one.

When one needs to make a point, one does so effectively with tact and facts...not this way.

Put down the bottle, go sleep on it, dial it back up in the morning.

Cmon...keep going.

We know you especially like the part where the instigator calls the cops on the black guy, and then the cops try to get the black guys side of the story by first shooting him 85 times....right?

Again, where do you get the sense those kids at MIZZOU want special treatment ? Elaborate if you will...........

what were they called .... oh ... "No Media Safe Space"
which is made-up bullshit. seriously. ever hear of that bullshit before? no? why? why not?

as for why I consider it bullshit...
it's likely, though not provable from where I sit and type this, but highly likely, that the students who are/were complaining about this are also the ones who bump some Lil Wayne "My Nigga" when not on-campus leading a squeaky clean existence. I, too, have seen racism. BOTH ways. I grew up with two friends who went separate ways. Both from the same neighborhood with the same opportunities to either make something of themselves or more likely be incarcerated. One went on to develop a drug habit and be a 9-time felon. The other went on to become a journalist, then a teacher, holds a doctorate degree and is starting a trucking company. I won't tell you the races of either. As smart as you are, you can figure it out. Racism, is real. I know it is. THIS bullshit that these entitled pansies are whining about is bullshit.

A **** swastika? is that saying **** about racism or the swastika? someone calls someone else a derogatory name on campus ... but OFF campus, I guarantee you that same word is bandied about with little regard of intent. Unless, of course, it's a cracka using it in reference to a black person.

Cmon...keep going.

prove a cop shot someone 85 times while getting his side of the story or get another vacation.
you have 24 hours.

Did you ask the context of which the slogan was meant ? Did they explain it ? Did you accept the explanation ? Have you ever asked a black person, "what are your direct or personal experiences with racism ?"

Ha! Really? What part of "you wouldn't" don't YOU understand?

Ask me about my direct or personal experiences with cops, or blacks for that matter, and see if I turn that it to generalizations about them or demands from them.

Again, where do you get the sense those kids at MIZZOU want special treatment ? Elaborate if you will...........

Every time someone calls you a name or mistreats you you spout racism. Ive been called names and mistreated in my life plenty of times. Some times because of the way I look or dress some times because of my skin color ( while playing basketball with black friends I caught hell all of the time) my friend did also because he was hanging around with me being white and him black. Did it define me or change my life know it didn't. People are to dame sensitive and are so ready to be the victim it makes me sick.
