According to the media...well hell, in this country, the media will tell you within 5 minutes of every shooting that the shooter is purported to be a white, right wing crazy...every time. 90% of the time they are wrong. I wonder if one can trust the media in Sweden, unlike here?

You feign being shocked in sarcasm, as if this happens every day, as if it's the norm. You expect this of white conservatives because you drink the Kool-aid the Liberal media you worship feeds you.

I will say this honestly. Each time a white person goes on a shooting spree in America, I'm truly shocked because it's unexpected when you consider 52% of homicides in this country are committed by an African American, despite Blacks making up just 13% of the population.

I find myself shocked on several levels. One, that it wasn't a black person committing the crime, as they are the most "likely" to have done so. Next, I'm shocked by the glorification the media will put on the incident, when they refuse to even cover the 10-20 deaths/per weekend in cities like Chicago. I'm shocked that to NBC and CNN, those lives don't matter.

If you are white and gunned down watching Batman in a movie theater, you are mourned and your face and a little biography about your life will appear on CNN and in Time. If you are black and killed in Chicago gun violence, no one ever knows your name and the Liberal media doesn't give a damn about your life. You're trash kicked to the curb. A life not worth even mentioning.

Those things, to me, are shocking.

A far-Right sympathiser brandishing a sword killed a teacher and student at a school in Sweden on Thursday, in what police called one of the worst events in the country's history.

Wearing a Nazi helmet and a Darth Vader mask and holding a sword covered in blood, the killer appeared to be in Halloween costume to pupils who posed for pictures with him seconds before the attack.

The attacker, named by Swedish media as 21-year-old Anton Lundin-Pettersson, then walked from classroom to classroom looking for victims at Kronan school in Trollhattan, near Gothenburg - an area with a high immigrant population.

A 20-year-old teaching assistant died at the scene, while a 17-year-old boy died later in hospital from stab wounds. Two more students were in a critical condition, while the attacker was fatally shot by police.

Police said on Friday that the attacker was driven by "racist motives".

"We are convinced that the assailant was driven by racist motives when he carried out the act," police chief Niclas Hallgren told Swedish public service radio.

"We have reached this conclusion based on what we found when we searched his apartment and his behaviour during the act, and also on the basis of how he selected his victims."

The sword master killed 2, injured 2. The NAU shooter killed one, injured 3. There was another shooting. One died in the Tennessee State shooting. In October, a knife attack in China left 50 dead. The 2014 Chinese subway knife attack left 33 dead.

In Jane Fonda world, only guns kill. And if we get rid of them, our problem will go away.

“Although gun buybacks appear to be a logical and sensible policy that helps to placate the public’s fears,” the reported continued, “the evidence so far suggests that in the Australian context, the high expenditure incurred to fund the 1996 gun buyback has not translated into any tangible reductions in terms of firearm deaths.”

A 2007 report, “Gun Laws and Sudden Death: Did the Australian Firearms Legislation of 1996 Make a Difference?” by Jeanine Baker and Samara McPhedran similarly concluded that the buyback program did not have a significant long-term effect on the Australian homicide rate.

The Australian gun-homicide rate had already been quite low and had been steadily falling in the 15 years prior to the Port Arthur massacre. And while the mandatory buyback program did appear to reduce the rate of accidental firearm deaths, Baker and McPhedran found that “the gun buy-back and restrictive legislative changes had no influence on firearm homicide in Australia.”

I technically disagree with both of you. I rarely - if ever - use the term conservatives on here. My point of contention is usually with far-right wingers, racists, evangelicals, fundamentalists, et al. Conservatives, while we may disagree on a few issues, are alright by me.

I simply find it amusing that the last several "mass killings" have been caused by an automobile and a sword, and the latest public psycho attacked five with a knife. That really puts a hit on that Liberal spin that if we just had better gun control, these things wouldn't happen.

When you couple it with the stories I presented earlier - massive knife killings around the globe - well, it just makes that argument that "guns kill people" absurd.

Slow cooker bombs, nitrogen packed trucks, arson, knives...all would be suitable weapons in the absence of guns. Removing the guns does absolutely nada to fix the problem, which is us, the people.
