And you're sitting with your Head Football Coach and he tells you that we had another season where we had a 500 or better winning record yet failed to make the playoffs.

Your Coach said that it was because we lost games against inferior opponents because our Franchise QB had bad games against them.

In fact he is so frustrated by this says that he wants to trade him so we can get a QB in here who can win those games.

In fact he believes AZ would pay a 1st and a 3rd.

You're the Deuce. What do you do.

Show the coach the door and hire a new coach to try and win a Super Bowl with Ben Roethlisberger. That's laying blame on everyone except yourself and would not be acceptable to me and I like Mike Tomlin as a coach. But if he came into my office blaming Ben and asking to trade him it wouldn't take long to usher in a new head coach. As many on the forum like to say when defending Mike Tomlin "he doesn't put on pads and play", so since I have an elite quarterback and they are difficult to find,I'd fire the coach nearly on the spot.

Papillon

Find an experienced, defensive minded new head coach, tell him he gets the first 3 picks in draft, not to **** up the offense, and that the entire goal is to win the SB in 2 of the next four years.

Make it so.

I would tell him to shave his head and get back to work. We hired Shaft, not Gary Coleman. White people should not be questioning his clock management. They should be pissing their pants. We aren't getting a full return on our black head coach dollar.

C: Can the coach and get a new franchise QB who can serve the team for 10+ years in a new atmosphere that both can grow in.

You have to have a solid QB to build an organization around and lend it stability. So rather than see the aging franchise QB dissolve into the background, I'd like to get something in exchange with the idea that I'd get 10 or so years out of a new franchise QB while he still has value to a team that is only a QB away. We are many players away from making a run year after year so I think its a safe trade at this point depending on where the other team is in the draft order and you can get the QB you want.

Arizona would be deep with quarterbacks if that deal happened and a low first and low third for him wouldn't be enough.

Assuming the Steelers fail to make the playoffs, or make the playoffs but fail to win a game, If I am Rooney, I give notice to Tomlin that next season is going to have be significantly more successful than the past five (barring some kind of disaster) or he will be gone.

No, I don't think Rooney will actually do this.

I say put down the pipe.

Option "C" doesn't exist. You know of a franchise QB laying around?

It's Bison, not Buffalo meat. Maybe make Buffalo Chicken Chili.

Look, I hate to say it but:

2007 - 1st year, gets a pass... playoffs, but upset in those playoffs, mostly due to him earlier running the legs off of FWP with no viable backup
2008 :) Awesome SUPER BOWL WIN
2009 -Hell was unleashed, epic collapse... 5 losses in a row, 3 of those teams had 5 wins or less and the other two were division rivals
2010 -Pretty good, Made the superbowl, lost to an underdog GB team
2011 - 12-4...BUT.... lost to Tim Tebow and an 8-8 Denver squad
2012- another down the stretch collapse, losing 5 of six before finishing with a meaningless win vs Cleveland
2013- started out 0-4 meaning the steelers were on a 2-9 stretch dating back to the previous season... finished 8-8
2014- 11-5, but LOST TO THE RAVENS AT HOME WHEN THEY STARTED A RB SIGNED OFF THE STREET THE WEEK BEFORE>>>>>

In every one of the missed playoff seasons, there has been at least two games with questionable coaching calls and in every case we are in the playoffs with another win, albeit in 2013 we needed to beat the Raiders or another AFC floormat, not an NFC team to get in over the Chargers..

There is no excuse for how we have played the past half dozen ravens games, well save for last years home game where we started out conservative, like always, but then opened it up after the first quarter...

If we are out of the playoffs with this team... it falls on Coach's shoulders plain and simple... Blake starting.... Being agressive then conservative or vice versa with no rhyme or reason...

No I don't know of any franchise QBs laying around but I have seen that with the proper scouting, they can be drafted, properly coached and surrounded by talent to then become franchise QBs.

Sorry, I will make Bison Chili this weekend. Happy? *******...

the Bengals Round 1 and the Pats games the losses were by 1 score. The KC Game, no Ben. These teams are AFC Play Off contenders along with Bengals Round 2, the Broncs, CARDS and the longer shot Colts; all BIG wins. There is a reason this team struggles against ****** teams (Ravens), Chargers, Rams all either 3 point losses or wins by one score. The Niners and Brownies Round 1 were blowouts, it's ponderous man.
They somehow get up for challenges and sleep walk against teams that get up for the Steelers.
Coaching? Preparedness? I dunno.

Sort of, I still recommend the Buffalo Chicken Chili (Steelers version) Don't be mad at me because you forgot to make the chili last weekend.

The drafting of a franchise QB is like catching lightening in a bottle. Could get burned while trying. I do NOT turn Ben out when the HC is clearly at fault. Team wasn't properly motivated or focused? Who's job was that? Not Ben's. Ben stays and god willing plus a different HC he earns at least another SB win. That and retires as a Pittsburgh Steeler having played not a snap for any other NFL team.

At least this ******* still has a horse in the race regardless of Sunday's outcomes.

I want to see Ben retire a Steeler as well in the same light as The Bus, but I guess I look at from the standpoint of seeing us struggle for so many years after Bradshaw. Thus I would like to see that position shored up for another 10-15 years. Maybe struggle is not the right word for many of those years but I feel we were a QB away from being another dynasty when we had those dominating defenses (and running game) in the 90s.

Sorry I called you an *******. I'm just pissed at myself for letting down the team and am sort of on edge...:)

NO STEELER CHILI FOR ME!! 6 WEEKS!

I fire Tomlin's ***. I've had it with his BS.

Keep the QB and if Tomlin is such of a great coach and would be sapped up immediately, trade him. Why not? Its been done before. You tell me there aren't Owners and GM's out there that wouldn't give up a high pick for him?

I'm not a Tomlin hater....but he does some stupid **** sometimes.

so does Ben...you can almost feel when he's about to have that Big Dummy moment sometimes.

it's not unheard of for teams that are "this close" to dump the HC, and keep everybody else....sometimes.

see ya, Mike....I'm not interested in waiting around for the "next Bradshaw" twice in a life.

I would make Tomlin watch every single one of his pressers, all in a row. When done, i'd just say: "Obviously you have been a bull-shiter of some description for some time. The arrow has been pointing down on your decision making and your time management has been below the line. To be quite honest with you, its time you lived in your fears. You have run all the wheels off of this team and now its time I UNLEASH HELL ON YOU in december. Obviously this is a firing of some significance, we will leave no stone unturned looking for Bill Cowher's phone number. Trade our franchise QB, in his prime? Clean out your desk and take that ******* popcorn machine with you on the way out"!

That dumb son of a ***** would of been escorted off the property and fired the moment I saw that dumb look on his face. I'd have given no chance to open his mouth.

This:

Find an experienced, defensive minded new head coach, tell him he gets the first 3 picks in draft, not to **** up the offense, and that the entire goal is to win the SB in 2 of the next four years.

The main problem has been the deterioration of the defense and defensive draft picks under Tomlin's watch.

I was actually relieved.when Nix left the game. I was like, "good, now Ben can't throw bone-head passes to him"

Tomlin jumped the shark in 2011 with the defining moment being when Tebow beat us in the playoffs. By 2011 most of the best Cowher players were retired, old, or near retirement. And it just wasn't their ability as players. We also lost great leadership. Leadership among the players and head coach often prevent losing from door mat teams.
