Think of it this way:

10 people in a room. 9 of them have COVID-19 and are wearing surgical masks. The person without COVID-19 is NOT wearing a mask. The masks might work as intended.

10 people in a room. 9 of them DON’T have COVID-19 but are wearing surgical masks. The one person with COVID-19 is NOT wearing a mask. The masks probably won’t work as intended.

I read an article about the lack of respirators and it goes back to H1N1. In short the stockpile was depleted a new order was eventually placed it was mired in red tape the company was sold and changed the new owners did not follow through on the orders and in typical government fashion it never got reordered. I am not even blaming Obama but it was on his watch this happened but it could have been any President. It was left to mid level bureaucrats mired in the swamp of red tape and kickbacks and nothing gets done and when it does it cost infinitely more than it should have. The only time in our system things get done quickly is when we have an emergency and the spotlight gets focused on the issue.

Wife painted our storage areas with waterproof primer and white paint a year or so ago. She loves chores around the house. So she purchased a box of N95 masks to use when painting - bought them at Home Depot.

Our daughter is a doctor at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, where she went to medical school. About 2 weeks ago, wife gets the N95 masks, puts them in a box and sends to daughter. Not only did she use the mask, but she shared with her co-workers. The idea that a medical facility is turning away an experienced nurse because she brought her own N95 mask is frankly stoooopid.

N95 masks provide vastly better protection than a cloth or plastic mask, no doubt. But I just don't get why some medical professionals are downplaying the benefit of wearing even cloth masks. Two reasons they are very important:

(1) If you have the goddamn virus and don't know it, and are still walking around in public, the mask reduces VASTLY the amount of contaminated material you spread by coughing and sneezing. We do know that people ******* cough and sneeze even when not feeling symptoms from a virus, right?? So wearing the mask, have the virus, don't know it, in public, big cough or sneeze - mask gobbles up 95% of the bad stuff. Who the **** is against that??

(2) The mask prevents us from touching our mouth and nose, two VERY common methods of virus transmission.

The problem is not the public wearing masks, and has never been. The problem is that people who wear the masks, fiddle with them, remove them, touch them, then touch their mouth while re-affixing, etc. So it is an information deficit that the Fed decided to ignore by lying and telling us, "Masks, even N95 masks, don't work," while paying companies to start MAKING MASKS.

Have you bothered to read what I've written in the pages in this thread? I'll say it again. Trump, Fauci, WHO, Lancet, professors, analysts, the media....all of them spewing numbers are spewing bullshit. Trump included. Why? Because TODAY no one can possibly know what the death rate/mortality rate/morbidity rate is going to be and how many are going to succumb until after. Everyone, literally everyone, is operating off of a subset of data TODAY because this isn't over.

So therefore, ANYONE professing to say x number will die, or the death rate is X is shooting from their ***, using a subset of data to make predictions. Because we don't have all of the data, nor damn near enough of it.

So anytime YOU profess to say the death rate is x, or the mortality rate or the infection rate is x....you are wrong. You don't know.

Two Holland America Line cruise ships carrying hundreds of sick passengers and crew members are currently anchored off the Florida coast, awaiting final clearance to disembark after reaching a conditional arrangement with local authorities.


The Zaandam and the Rotterdam arrived early on Thursday morning, with 233 passengers and crew who, at some point since March 22, were said to have been exhibiting “influenza-like illness symptoms," according to Holland America. At least eight of the people onboard had tested positive for COVID-19; four “older” guests were also confirmed to have died on the Zaandam last week.

Heard something about this on the radio this morning. They were interviewing a woman whose parents are on one of the ships, both are sick. She was saying she warned them against traveling but they didn’t listen, they are retired, like to travel. Hope everything works out.

The idiot doesn't have to "Close" church just have your service online and protect your flock you jackass. He just wants those collection plates being passed. As a christian I am sickened by the majority of these large churches and their thirst for money.

I may be misremembering, but I thought in the bible, Christ repeatedly taught us to earn as much as possible, build houses of gold, hoard during trying times, and not share.

ME? Where did I come up with my own numbers?

So is what you are saying is that nothing can ever be based on predictive models? This virus has been around for several months. You say there isn’t damn near enough data. Where are the epidemiologist screaming bloody murder at Fauci and Birx for their predictions? I’ve only seen agreement.

The FACT is that the trajectory of the daily death rate is going to have to change significantly and soon for Fauci and Birx predictions not to play out.
