The Coronavirus thread

It's funny, the more time goes by, the more we see the things they said were smart...weren't.

Masks
Social Distancing
Sheltering at home

And now, those stupid plastic shields. Studies show...they may actually make you more at risk. LOL Jesus.

COVID precautions have turned many parts of our world into a giant salad bar, with plastic barriers separating sales clerks from shoppers, dividing customers at nail salons and shielding students from their classmates.

Intuition tells us a plastic shield would be protective against germs. But scientists who study aerosols, airflow and ventilation say that much of the time, the barriers do not help and probably give people a false sense of security. And sometimes the barriers can make things worse.

Research suggests that in some instances, a barrier protecting a clerk behind a checkout counter may redirect the germs to another worker or customer. Rows of clear plastic shields, like those you might find in a nail salon or classroom, can also impede normal airflow and ventilation.

Under normal conditions in stores, classrooms and offices, exhaled breath particles disperse, carried by air currents and, depending on the ventilation system, are replaced by fresh air roughly every 15-30 minutes. But erecting plastic barriers can change airflow in a room, disrupt normal ventilation and create “dead zones” where viral aerosol particles can build up and become highly concentrated.

“If you have a forest of barriers in a classroom, it’s going to interfere with proper ventilation of that room,” said Linsey Marr, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech and one of the world’s leading experts on viral transmission. “Everybody’s aerosols are going to be trapped and stuck there and building up, and they will end up spreading beyond your own desk.”

I get your point but Ohio is not Blue at all.

It’s like it’s the most populated states that have the most deaths, imagine that.

As is your right.

I did the same 5 months ago, based on information available at that time.
That begs the question....will you get the 3rd....if you knew then what you know now, would you get the 1st and 2nd, and what would be your personal choice......if that is not too personal?

Oh, now all of a sudden it's not just a 'red state' thing? You're such a ******* clown you must be laughing at your own self.

As I sit here as a reasonable healthy (knock on wood) 60 year old man...my answer would be no to a 3rd shot.

I'm going to need verifiable, factual evidence that a 3rd dose will do much of anything, so I will very likely hold off until that occurs, meaning no with almost certainty.

Right now, Covid is very much a red state thing…

You can’t fix stupid.

Sturgis Covid Surge Part II

Everything is a superspreader event and I don't really care at this point. My callow honesty. Treatments, many Trump was excoriated for, have improved the response to this already not very deadly virus to the point it is no more harmful than the flu. It is just a fact of life and all the fear mongering in the world will not change it. Vaccinated or not you are still VERY unlikely to die or even have a severe reaction to it. It is here to stay and we need to just ******* move on with our lives. I know a ton of vaccinated people getting the virus and it is no big deal. Hospitalizations are u because they know how to treat it to become no big deal, not necessarily because it is causing more issues.

Cuomo on CNN last night admitted it is the only issue Biden has a prayer of winning on and it has to stick around for political reasons. Yes I watch more than just Fox or Newsmax. Know your enemy.

Kind of out on a limb with this one this morning, aren't you? So folks shouldn't use a veterinary formulation of ivermectin? Shocking!

How about the one actually with FDA approval for treatment in humans, even if it's prescribed with an off label use? It's done all the time with many drugs.

This article reminds me of those dumb enough to take chloroquine phosphate, used as a fish tank cleaner, thinking it would offer protection. Darwin's view of
natural selection comes to mind.
