I know everybody is still absorbing the greatest road win in NCAA history last week when Penn State went into Madison and beat dem Badgers, but we must move on. Last week saw quite a few good matchups. This week is back to cupcakes. Not many interesting games this week. Aside from the awesome Penn State game, there's really only 2 or 3 other games that look interesting.

Ball State at 11 Penn State 3:30 FS1
Penn State had a huge win on the road last week. That defense held up against 95 plays run by Wisconsin. PSU also has a big game vs Auburn next week who plays in a small southern conference. Could PSU get caught looking ahead? They better not. Ball State is a MAC team but a good one. They could win that conference so if PSU plays half assed, it could be a long day. Could be close at half due to some hangover but i think PSU pulls away in the second half.

It was great to see PSU make halftime adjustments. I keep being struck by the similarities i see to PSU and the Steelers in terms of having a new OC that makes adjustments to attack weaknesses. PSU clearly started attacking deep in the second half and made plays. Probably should have scored 21 at least as Clifford missed a couple open throws. It is amazing how WR Jahan Dotson has emerged as a true playmaker. He was a big recruit who was just so-so up until the middle of last year when the light turned on.

12 Oregon at 3 Ohio State Noon FOX
Why would Oregon agree to play a noon game in the eastern time zone? I get it that Fox pushes their Big Noon game but if i'm Oregon, there is no way in hell i'm agreeing to a noon start. Oregon's best defensive player and projected top 10 pick DE Kayvon Thibodeaux is not likely to play. Ohio State is favored by 14.5 so this one could get out of control.

10 Iowa at 9 Iowa State 4:30 ABC
This is probably the best game of the day. A rivalry game and an evenly matched game. Iowa blew out Indiana last week. Kirk Ferentz is a great football coach. He gets the max out of his players. They just don't recruit well. It takes a few years to coach up the mid level recruits they get. That generally means that Iowa is really good every 3 or 4 years when they get a big enough stockpile of coached up starters. This looks to be one of those years.

12 Utah at BYU 10:15 ESPN
a rivalry that could produce an entertaining game to have on in the background while pouring over the next day's fantasy football lineups.

Stanford at 14 USC 10:30 FOX
USC looked good week 1 but Stanford has had a history of upsetting the Trojans. If Oregon gets blown out by Ohio State then the Pac 12 really needs USC to be something this year.

One more

Pitt at Tennessee Noon ESPN
Pitt is favored by 4. This could be a good game. With Clemson losing and the ACC in general having a disastrous week 1, the ACC really needs a Pitt win here vs an SEC team to bolster the conference's rep down the line.

The spread on the Oregon game is interesting. This is a big game for a program that is trying to join the elite programs and even playing on the road at 12:00 pm, a blowout loss to Ohio State would be tough for Oregon to stomach. The Pac 12 has nothing going on right now and Oregon is the best hope to put that conference back in the national conversation.

What the fook was the one Pitt guy doin on that punt? He's back there to block guys coming off the edge and did nothing but run up field. Center did the same thing.

Where is the usual stud Pitt running back from the last few years... Conner, Ollison, etc. Guy out there today looks tiny

Pitt lucky so far that the Vols QB sucks....he's missed wide open guys 2 or 3 times

Oregon giving OSU hell. 14-7 at the moment, Oregon was driving before a penalty ruined the drive.

I totally expected Pitt to come out unready vs the Vols, and they didn’t disappoint me by totally disappointing me and going down 10 points early… but since then they have been the better team

East Carolina is physically beating the **** out of South Carolina. ECU up by a TD

Pitt taking control 34-20 late in the 3rd
Take away that quick ten point the panthers gave up and this is a blowout… but nothing ever comes easy to this team… I swear the Panters luck rubbed off on the Steelers once they started sharing a stadium….

Alabama should be ashamed of scheduling teams like Mercer.
The reason teams should go to a more random scheduling system for non rival non conference games is that big programs don’t want to schedule top end mid majors because it has no good impact for them… a win gets them no credit in polls and a loss is devastating… so you end up with things like this… its like how few teams would be willing to schedule boise state back in the day, but then when they were undefeated and only played one power conference team the argument was, well they didn’t play anyone … can’t rank them too high… but they would cry that nobody would play them…

give a **** team a major upset and watch them start disappearing from the big conference schedules in a couple of years…

Why? We couldn't get any Big 10 opponents to play and Mercer stepped up!!! You guys are funny...
You guys play Mercer almost every year. Just stop. There's weak teams, and then there's teams like Mercer. At least schedule Troy State. Oh wait.....

Mercer has no chance at beating Alabama. Hell, I doubt they beat Alabama's training staff.

It's nice to see Ohio State go down.
