Well when we look back at this game we will see the Raiders beat the Steelers in every facet of the game including coaching and preparation! I'll give credit to Jon Gruden for having his team focused & prepared to play this one on the road on a short week. Injuries stacked up for our Steelers fairly quickly this week (Bush & Haden not starting) and that continued early in the game when Alualu & TJ Watt both went down early. Alualu's injury didn't look good I'm willing to be it's season ending unless it's a clean break with no ligament damage but he's going to miss at least 8-10 weeks. Alualu is not a guy who's easily replacable. I'm hoping Loudermilk can step up and make a positive impact on our pass rush! Coming into this week my biggest concern for our Defense was Henry Ruggs and that became reality when he broke away from Witherspoon as he was SMOKED by Ruggs for the TD. I'm not sure Haden could have made that play either. The offense still seems to be a work in progress......the obvious problem is the Offensive line that continues to struggle to open up holes for Najee Harris. Our schedule doesn't get any easier as we move forward...with the Cincy Bungles coming into town next week before we hit the road to Green Bay in week 4. After week 4 our schedule simply becomes BRUTAL as there are no easy games after that. Well hopefully Tomlin can get this ship righted and get the Defense healthy and get us headed in the right direction...this was a week where we just lost the game in every facet from coaching to execution. We are a special teams play away from being an 0-2 team. Yes I said it!

Per Tomlin's Post Game
Tyson Alualu - Ankle Fracture - SEASON ENDING SURGERY TOMORROW! Alualu to IR. HUGE LOSS for the Defense!
TJ Watt - Groin injury and wasn't able to return
Dionte Johnson - Being evaluated no injury update on him

Game Balls:
Dionte Johnson - 9 rec 105 yds - good performance for Johnson today
Juju Smith Schuster - 6 rec 41 yds 1 rush 3 yds 1 TD - Juju needs a bigger role in this offense
Robert Spillane - 8 tackles filling in for an injured Devin Bush.....Spillane played very well today on that Defense
Pressley Harvin - Seems to be settling in as our punter....almost 50 yds per punt today including a nice one to pin the Raiders deep.

Game Goats:
O- Line - They've got to be able to open up holes in the running game if this offense is going to show any improvement. They still look one dimensional to me.
Chase Claypool - The ability is there but this kid needs to be a more physical presence on this offense. 3 rec on 9 targets is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Maybe he needs to drop down the depth chart! He's getting more targets than any other receiver on the roster and he's not showing his ability to catch the damn football! Mapletron my A$$! THE KID IS SOFT!
Eric Ebron - They can't cut this bum soon enough! He never was a Steeler and still isn't! Catch the damn football Ebron!
Tre Norwood - I know it's only his 2nd game but he failed miserably on a blitz (had a clear run & was too tentative coming in on Carr) on Ruggs TD. Also got beaten 2 other times badly for completions
Ben Roethlisberger - GAWD......he had a Favre moment on his INT and it wasn't a good one. He shouldn't have thrown that damn ball...there was nothing there. Desperation heave and it cost us. Needs to be smarter with the football.
Ray Ray McCloud - On his last punt return he had the edge...all he had to do was outrun a linemen (#65) and Punter behind him...instead he tried to cut back inside. Terrible Decision making there Ray Ray! You kept going outside you had an easy TD unless the punter makes the tackle.

I'm going to add Najee as a Game Ball - the rushing yards weren't there. But the way this OL blocks, they might not be there for awhile. Still, he kept playing hard (that stiff arm was a thing of beauty) and his receiving TD was an important score to keep the game close (for awhile).
Ebron wasn't a factor in the game. He hardly played. And the drop was as much a factor of the uncalled PI as anything else (Defender had a good chunk of his jersey in his hands).
Based on numbers, DJ had a good game. Based on wrong routes, and quitting on the route that led to Ben's INT, he as a Goat for me.

Bos should have a game ball. He's automatic.

Dionte, meh. Decent stats but time and time again seemed on a different page than what Ben was expecting.

Game goat is play calling...I don't know why we even have an offensive coordinator at this point.

Gigantic FU combined with goat to the coaching staff for running a meaningless play down by 9 points with 20 seconds left in the game. No reason to risk injury and the football gods punished the stupid by making sure the Steelers #1 WR gets hurt.

He was in a lot of pain. Not good and for NO REASON. Idiots for putting Ben, DJ, etc. at risk. You lost. Take a knee.

Oh, and for not going for it 4th and a half yard at the 40 yard line. Idiots. Stupid decisions.

Wonder who's in charge of that aspect.

The whole offense is garbage. Form the OL to the QB to the WR's to the coaching to the playcylling. Where should I start?

The O-line doesn't pass block especially well, and their run blocking is atrocious. Guys standing watching Najee get tackled 3 yards behind the LOS, Chuks especially.

Our QB is done. Gonna miss him when he's gone, but it is past time to move on. Give me Rudolph or Haskins or Stiff Cliff at this point, because we have seen this movie before, and it isn't very good. Without a solid QB this season is going nowhere.

The WR's are not very good. DJ gives up on plays, three I counted today, Claypool can't catch for ****, and none of them can get separation consistently. When it comes to separation, I wonder if they are just slow, or is the route design that poor or both?

For all the great **** Canada was supposed to bring, he ain't bringing it. Oh sure, we got a little more motion here and there, but the plays sure do look familiar. So who is responsible for that? Canada? Tomlin? Ben? All three? Pee wee leagues are more creative. Looks like the "vanilla" pre-season offense made it to the regular season. Never bought that vanilla **** anyway.

You know, with 5 defensive starters out, I knew it was going to be bad for the defense. But the offense has no excuse. Same broken record of nonsense as the last two years. At least they looked good for a half last week.

EDIT: Not gonna rip on the RB's or TE's. No RB is having a 100 yard game behind this line, and if we actually threw to the TE's on occasion, maybe you could make an evaluation.

Also, what the hell is Tomlin thinking of not going for it on 4th and a foot? We haven’t stopped them all day and we had already used one time out. Tomlin makes stupid decisions all the time. Another thing, why do we always decide to throw long anytime we should be trying to at least obtain a first down? We go after the low percentage completions and throw long instead of trying to maintain the drive. WTF?

Tomlin is Tomlin. Nothing will ever change with him in charge. I figured this for a losing season based on the new OL alone but now 8 - 9 may be a pipe dream.

We should have traded Watt for 2 first round picks. He coasts all of training camp (even though he was under contract) and messes up his groin on a routine play like that.

You should never put that much money in a defensive player, no matter how good they are. Get what you can and let them walk after 5. This team isn't going anywhere for quite a while anyway.

Like I told DIC we have a good team, just not a great team. They can't over for a plethora of defensive injuries with a fading QB and a new Oline. It is one game but this game exposed some flaws. Lack of CB depth, lack of urgency until late on O. They weren't aggressive enough. A long season. But yeah some concerns.

Considering we had two other defensive starters out with groin injuries, I'd be looking at the strength and conditioning coach and how he has these guys stretching. Because it sure doesn't seem like what they are doing is working.

Agreed. The injuries (pre-game and during) didn't help.

I would also add OC Canada to the Goat list - WTF??? This offense looks horrendous and every drive seems like we need a rocket scientist to score a TD---not so much around the league....

I'm done now.

It's still early, but at this point the constants with the offense are Tomlin, Roethlisberger, and a poor offensive line. Scheme wise, this offense doesn't feel much different than last year. Place the blame on Tomlin for not emphasizing the run during training camp. You have to practice it to be good at it. Roethlisberger isn't a guy who can make plays without a clean pocket and continues to ignore the mid-range passing game. Of course, the offensive line is worse than last year's group which wasn't very good.

Tomlin 4th and a foot trailing by 2 scores punts. Same Tomlin **** like in the Browns playoff debacle last year. Guy is full of **** on the sidelines and full of **** in front of the mic he constantly craves.

Tomlin and some of the players said after the game the Raider spit on Turner first and that is why he went balastic.

Ben didn’t win or lose the game. He kept them in it. Yeah, that stupid interception.
Claypool, I’m losing interest in the kid. He’s soft and doesn’t really seem to combat catch. Friermueth in the second half was a half too late. They need to get him going early. Take advantage of the seams and allow it to help open your running game.
Bright side, they didn’t get killed by Waller. They got killed by tight ends and running backs from down the roster.

I won't because we don't have all the video coverage that could easily support their claims...
I tend to believe Turner. Never heard of him being a dirty player in his career.

Yes but we now have the highest paid defensive player to ever sit in a NFL hot tub for the next month!
