I'd be intersted in the Myles Garrett trade offer packages.

Just hear me out as this is only an exercise in possibilities as a fan. I 100% know the Steelers are not trading Watt. And he has been by far my favorite player in the last many years. But..............as a fan maybe they should.
I realize the packages being bantered for Garrett right now are not realistic. I just Read one from Washington at 2 first rounders and two starter players.
If real offers are anywhere in that ballpark even in the relm..........shouldn't I want that as a fan?
Anyone here really believe TJ is gonna win even a playoff game with Tomlin? That's two more seasons and a huge contract to boot and he is gonna be in the very twilight of his HOF career. Shouldn't I hope as a fan that whoever has to pick up the pieces of this mess has the most talent at his disposal. And shouldn't I also hope as a fan of Watt that he actually has an opportunity to play for a title that he completely deserves but won't even sniff in Pittsburgh?

Therein lies the problem, though.
We trade Watt and get couple first rounders and some starting players.
ALL these new toys will be coached by Tomlin and will be of zero use to us.
I'd rather have our stud TJ finish his career here than trade him out and watch him play his final games in a different uniform.
Keep him or trade him, we still don't have #7 because of the head moron in charge ( Tomlin or Rooney, take your pick ).

First off, we won't trade Watt, but if we did, we would get far more for him than Cleveland can get for Garrett. To trade him in reality another team will likely have to also take Watson off their hands, or the Brown can't afford to trade him. To do that they likely won't have to give up much of anything for Garrett as taking Watson is the deal. Pittsburgh has no such issues in trading Watt, if they entertained the idea, and could ask a kings ransom.

Why would we get far more for Watt than Garrett? I don't think any team would take Watson from Cleveland with Watsons contact. Wouldn't the new team then have to pay Garrett and Watson? I just don't see that happening especially with how bad Watson has been. Edge rushers are definitely important, but giving up even 2 first rounders is pretty steep. Watt has a lot of wear and tear and might only have a few good years left. I think people might be over estimating his value

Simply because Cleveland can't afford the trade without dumping Watson. They are totally screwed. It has nothing to do with Garretts worth as a player it is the Browns total idiocy in cap management. No one wants Watson, they would simply have to agree to take on his cap numbers for Cleveland. To get Garrett you will have to be wiling to pay Watson to not play.

Omar has to be one of the most frustrated guys in the building. No matter what that man gives Tomlin and that bunch of maladroit imbeciles, the players will be handicapped by conservative play designs and Tomlin's abhorrence for using the middle 3rd of the field. You could time travel to 1976 like Bill and Ted, pack the entire Steelers team into that phone booth, deliver them to Mike Tomlin and he'd find a way to go 10-7. It's useless, pointless, and unavailing to believe that anything other than aborting Tomlin and his congress of fetuses will solve anything, let alone trading away TJ for bleak future.

Garrett probably pictures himself being in the same situation if he became a Steeler.

Remember Garrett wants to go to a team that has the potential to win a Super Bowl.

TJ Watt wants one last “BIG” contract and is by far then ready to retire. He is tired of the punishment he is taking knowing he is going no where as far as playoff / SB is concerned. The League has collaborated against his Accolades (think DPOY, Sack Record).

Things can turn around, TJ is very hard working but his career is on the start of the twilight.

I would be for trading him but the results of the trade would still be dealing with Tomlinization.

I also think TJ truly is a STEELERS player and wants to fin ish career here.

Yep...he will extend here this offseason for some $$$$$. He just might go his entire career without a playoff win though. If I was Watt I would have a long sit down with Rooney about the direction of this team. Our players have to see what every else sees. He could threaten to play out his contract and walk after next season unless changes are made. Garret is basically challenging his FO/Ownership. Why not Watt?

I would trade Watt if Tomlin was included in the trade.

Only way I would trade him and we know Mike can’t be traded so…

If you can trade Watt for 2 firsts and 2 starters do it in a heartbeat.

BUT…the Tomlin regime can’t touch the 2 picks. Just put them in a trust fund for the next coach. Trade those picks for multiple picks next year, then if Tomlin is still here repeat and trade all the acquired picks for picks in the next draft.
By the time Tomlin is gone in 3 years those 2 firsts will have gained interest into about 3-4 firsts, a couple 2nds, couple 3rds and maybe a few more late rounders giving the new coach a plethora of picks to restock the cupboard and get the team off and running to a quick rebuild.

Honestly I'm not even sure if I might lose some respect for TJ if he signs another big contract with the Steelers. There is just no way you could reasonably expect real success in the life of that contract. What is that saying? On one hand it's brand loyalty. But on the other hand it's pretty complacent.
Like I don't expect the leadership to be in revolt against Tomlin. If you whisper a question about the Steelers way you are out (see Harris here). But it also seems to me same result every year and a little frustration......and see you in Latrobe end of July.

AND

Imagin you bait the “Tomlin” with conditions that he wants out and allows a trade to Philadelphia (High octain and similar to when he came here, winning team). You get a first / second / & third,……….. pure GOLD right there.

Keep in mind that you and I visit ownership of the Eagles and let’s just say we brought a small package of infuse-ment with us………… PRIOR to the deal…………..

All this happens after this season so best be moving WATT A.S.A.P. To build your draft pick BANK-age.

NO, no lost respect here. TJ has his future after football, and $$$coin$$$ is a huge factor as to why these guys even go through the endurance / wear on themselves.

No disrespect to you SteelerSask of any kind, but these guys are money oriented 1st, all else second. Even the Great Team Player and Professional TJ WATT is addicted in that sense. Notice his payday, that speaks not just of his great ability but also the compromise of balance to keep him here. Money and compensation go hand in hand, how much does it cost to stay here VS everything else weighted.

EDIT: One would have to check to see if TJ has a “no trade clause” written into his contract, wouldn’t surprise.

They need to move him as well as other players around. If they're going to live and die by the pass rush, they'd better start playing chess with their players and stop running the same exact **** over and over again with no success.

This team has serious coaching and philosophy issues. They definitely have zero tactical ability.

Whatever little tiny tweaks they install during the offseason ,stay all season no matter what.

It basically goes on autopilot and nothing will change until the next offseason. This has been reoccurring for over a decade.

That's why they get hammered by seasons end when the game film builds up on them. Hell, most NFL teams could just take any film over the last 10+ years and develop a pretty close plan of action vs the Steelers.

I'd call it lazy and just doing enough to get by. The team always looks unpolished, unprepared, undisciplined and soft with poor technique.

This team needs a plethora of good teachers on staff and they don't have any. It damn sure shows. All of that rah rah rah won't win a damn thing.

The only thing they have in common with great Steeler Championship teams of the past is the colors, unfortunately just sticking on the jersey won't elevate you to their level.

I strkngly agree in one sense and to be fair has put down roots. But not really caring about winning. Being content to be on a team like this........it's questionable in a way.

Absolutely SteelerSask, they care about winning, but the $$$ is first most.

It’s at this stage of their careers that they start to think / regret not playing for a championship. PO wins matter, they are goal oriented, but that’s after the contract is signed and the money is in place.

JJ Watt is often on the Pat McAfee show. He is very respectful of TJ’s predicament in such a way he won’t comment on it. JJ will say something about the Steelers with no PO wins in 8 years, but nothing specific to TJ. That subject is avoided and the McAfee people respect that. JJ is pretty good at insight(s) / football truths / ect., but won’t discuss personal stuff, in to deep of personal insight.

Cam Heyward has definitely wished better post season play, but as you can see he has chosen $$$money$$$ over chance to be post-season successful.

Players get tuned / locked into their team and will stay regardless, as long as the money is there.

Miles Garret is attempting to break out of the Brown’s Factory, we will see how successful he is & if he finds fruition in being able to leave. There is no guarantee of post season success, many things are invovled. Some places have better success than where you are currently at.

Unfortunately TJ Watt is stuck in BazZarO world and until his discuss over takes his payday, he isn’t going anywhere.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel for ALL of the great players who have come through the Tomlinization period of this once GREAT franchise, amazing how much talent has been wasted over the years. Do the least with the most.

That’s clearly evident when you see a college player on draft day smile after being picked by the Browns.

You know you’ve become the Stains when getting out ranks higher than $$$
Fortunately the Steelers aren’t QUITE there yet…but with time a persistence towards the cause anything is possible.

Even GP would resign if they made him the top paid WR in the league no matter how much he dislikes being in Pittsburgh. Sadly we’re getting to the point where retaining top talent or bringing in top FAs will soon require these types of overpay situations.

The struggle is real
And really evident
