I miss the old days when drug companies couldn't advertise. Holy crap,,,Every other commercial is for some miracle cure or the other and their side effects sound worse than what it's supposed to fix.

if they're not pushing drugs on every possible age group they're pushing them on our pets. It's a wonder the entire country isn't a bunch of quivering hypochondriacs. I think it's time to ban the commercials and let the doctors get back to recommending the correct drug for their patients not the other way around.
 
My favorite is the Ozempic commercials where fat tubs of lard are happily dancing and singing about lowering their A1C. I mean, if they continue dancing like that for another 55 minutes each day, they wouldn't have to inject themselves with cancer causing poison to lose weight. :ROFLMAO:

I hate that one too.
It’s kind of off the subject but I hate commercials depicting fat women period, advertising tampons, (no pun intended) bladder leak underwear, bras etc. It’s ******* gross.
Then you have freak shows like “My 600 lb life” and “1000 lb Sisters”. Are we supposed to have pity on them?
 
The very concept that we can fix things with chemicals is retarded. How about we just eat real food and no chemicals in those either.

I had walking pneumonia and had to be fought with to take antibiotics. I just don't buy the "take a pill" thinking. Especially when you see the side effects. Holy God, these are OK???? Just eat well, lose the GMOs, processed stuff, soda, etc., and live long like so many before us did.

Big pharm is criminal.

A woman, friend of a friend, was prescribed Ozempic because of diabetes. She was not overweight, but in taking the drug for 2 months, lost over 30 lbs, and has had systemic issues, mostly cardiovascular since. Apparently her doctor told her last week that her heart was damaged, is now failing and to prepare end of life stuff.

Where are the aftermarket studies?

That is horrible! Where are the punishments for these "doctors" who prescribe this poison? Whats worse, I looked into going to a functional health doctor and my health care don't cover it.

So, a damaged heart is an acceptable price to pay for diabetes? How about we get rid of more sugars - particularly the synthentic ones - and quit spraying our foods in mass with Round Up, and be healthier?? Beyond insane.

Doctors get kickbacks, trips, money, etc., from pharmaceuticle companies. It's wrong.
 
I worked with physicians for years and can verify that they absolutely hated the advertising, spending half of their allotted time with the patient as to why the commercial they saw wasn't in their best interest. They had no use for the drug reps either, as they were nothing more than an attractive face with an empty head, having devolved from pharmaceutical reps from 40-50 years ago that actually had a medical background.

No one, other than the drug companies, would mourn the loss of direct consumer advertising.

I would go a step further and add lawyers to the list.

Every drug has a side effect, if you read the package insert for aspirin you might think twice about taking it. Risks and benefits, risks and benefits.

Oh, I know, I have a good buddy who was a pharm rep for Eli LIlly. He quit a decade ago but I've heard all about it. Unbelievable. Handing out "samples" like a damn drug dealer giving ya a taste of it.

Ozempic isn't for "weight loss". It is used for that, but it isn't it's intended use. I have eaten relatively healthy and kept my weight mostly under control. Despite that I couldn't regularly keep my A1C under 7. Diabetics are getting great results from this. I have kept my numbers to below now for two years using Ozempic. It also helps heart health. i have lost some weight and am down to a steady 183. It also did wonders for my disabled vet stepdad. Due to an injury from Vietnam he could no longer walk more than a step or two and had trouble controlling his diabetes due to the lack of mobility. Ozempic got him off all other Diabetes Meds and helped him drop 100 pounds he put on being immobile. Sadly, the back pain and dementia are still robbing him of his quality of life. btu Ozempic got him a few more years of time with my mom.

30 years ago, I would agree with that, they would lose hospital privileges, Medicare payments, etc. if caught today. Not saying it may not still be happening, just not as much.
As an intern in the mid-70's I saw the owner of the pharmacy I worked at have a new color TV rolled in by the rep.

A couple of years ago my A1C was just barely in the pre-diabetic range but it qualified me for Mounjaro. It's been awesome. I dropped 50 and all of my bloodwork, including cholesterol, is perfectly normal.

I'd like to see drug reps cancelled out. Physicians shouldn't have any outside influence and should have all the knowledge they need to fix my respiratory infection or broken bone, sprain, etc... If it's anything more than that...**** it. It'll be my time.

The fundamental problem is that the doc is trained to give you a drug for the respiratory infection rather than working with you to determine the cause of the infection.

It's not about your long term health, but rather revenue from product sales to fit your issue of the day.

They need to re-learn healthcare.

I would place blame more on the manufacturer and the government that says it’s safe.

They are prescribing one of those types of medicines to treat sleep apnea. Zepbound I think.

I remember in the last players strike back in the 80's the Steelers signed an OL who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and the media said that he was the only player who took a pay cut to play in the NFL.

Lawyers don't care. The existing 1,000,000 laws give plenty of reasons to sue as is. Those most harmed by banning drug advertising would be:

Most health care professionals would probably welcome that. The only thing that was remotely attractive about them was when they would bring in lunch for the entire center.
Most, if not all with a medical degree have to attain a certain number of continuing education hour every year to renew their license, so it's not like learning stops once they get the degree.

It's the Lerner and Rowe guys with their in a wreck, get a check spiel. My car insurance is high enough as it is.
 
and Guess what there are only two countries in the WORLD that allow big Pharma to advertise direct to the public. The US and New Zealand
