Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

This MAY work, depending on one thing in particular...Jones at LT. AARon is not able to run for his life every other play and succeed (survive).

I've got a baaaad feeling.

On the bright side:

Looking at Rodgers' numbers from 2024, over his last 10 games: 210-328 for 2234 yards, 18 TDs and 4 INTs, for a 97 passer rating. They're actually pretty good, and they include an absolutely horrific game in week 17 at Buffalo where he threw for only 112 yards with 2 picks.

It's not like Rodgers fell off a cliff later in the season due to his age, or his health, etc. In six of those ten games, he had a rating of 104 or better. He played very well most of the time, while surrounded by a shltty team.

You definitely want Tomlin gone because there's no way Rodgers holds it together for half a season. He is beyond a has-been, it's difficult to remember when his play spoke louder than his conspiracy theories.

I respect the experience and skills of the pros handling this matter but I also have to question why they would even consider signing Rodgers.

Rodgers is more of a prima donna than Ben with the same declining skill set, ego, narcissism. The battle that will inevitably occur between Tomlin and Rodgers will make this team a joke this year.

I think you mean “extend” this team as a joke…………………

I just glad the wait is over and now that he is a STEELERS player, I’m obviously going to root him to exceed all expectations.

Well, if this ends up bad with Rodgers this season and we don’t even make the playoffs, will be interesting to see who the scapegoat will be.
I’m not trying to be negative, hell I hope he leads us to a division title and a deep playoff run, I really do.
Playing devils advocate, what if it blows up? Will Rooney finally start making wholesale changes or do nothing?

Nothing until Coach Tomlin’s contract expires………………. Then it’s still debatable……… for extension.

This is good light, I’m always looking for the good.

I hope he plays well enough and long enough to make this whole debacle worth it.

I don't get why it's such a bad move in the long run. It's just one year, it won't affect the draft position as I don't see him as such a great improvement over Rudolph.

I don't think anyone would expect to see will Howard getting thrown in to the fire and screwing him up so early, like ****** franchises do with rookie QBs that need time to develop

I like Rodgers, but he is way past his prime. Just have to wonder what his commitment level is as well. The good is I am pretty confident he will stand up to Tomlin's BS and do his own thing.

Geez, how old is this guy? You know he's going to have to run offn the field every time the D is outaire to go pee. Maybe they can outfit that blue tent with a porta John or somthin

Hell, I had that problem a few times in games in College. Maybe he can wear a cath.

I was never a fan of Rodgers, but he's also a future Hall of Famer and one of the best passers of this generation, so I'll enjoy his play as much as possible. He gives the Steelers the best chance at winning and while it could hurt their draft status, I also want to win a playoff game at some point.

Finally sign in to some actual news. My new favorite QB in the NFL. I’m not going to be negative without having seen him even step on the field.
Steelers will have 2 HOF Quarterbacks back to back enshrined on first ballot. Maybe three after next years pick.

The only negative is if you wanted the Steelers to struggle this season for draft position since Rodgers, even at 41, is likely still a substantially better option than Rudolph or Howard.

So why pay someone 20mil on a one year deal if he is not much better than a current player?
That's probably on Tomlin and his pedigree stuff. Still, part of those 20M were gonna be spent in another qb, whether it was cousins or someone cheaper. 20M is chump change for a starter, our 3 QBs payroll must be less that the average starter.

I really hope Rodgers is here to win and not just to collect a check and get one more year of attention, and because he wants to win has negotiated some assurances the offense will be opened up to allow him to play like the hall of fame QB he is, albeit well past his prime.

And I really hope our oline and the right play calls can protect him all season

My fear is Tomlin will neuter Rodgers into his cave man offense just like he did to Ben at the end of his career and this past year to Russell Wilson. If that happens I have a hard time believing Rodgers won’t throw Tomlin under the bus to the media-it won’t be boring that’s for sure

I never want the Steelers to struggle before the season has even started, for a better draft position. Never. And each to his or her own,but I can’t stand fans that cheer for their team to lose. Like the guy personally or not….. He was probably the best available Quarterback this year to win the most amount of games for us. His signing has no bearing whatsoever to us needing a QB in next years draft. At a reported 20 million? They went out and got their guy for this year at a decent cost. Rudy as a capable backup, and Howard strikes me as a guy that will absorb absolutely everything, while preferably not seeing the field this year. I look forward to seeing our new QB,RB and WR step on the field.

I have a hunch he won't last the season but will help get us to the Tomlinship. At least they didn't overspend if the $20 million is correct.
The original number bantered was 10. That's double. I agree this aint getting Tomlin out. But its a huge step. Fonzie is jumping the shark here.

I’m not sure if this made the QB situation and season more interesting or less interesting. Rodgers will play damn little in preseason but it won’t matter how rusty or washed up he might look or how good Rudolph or Howard might look. The Steelers future will be a mystery for a while. There’s a good chance that “QB in the first round or not?” Is the great debate come Next offseason.
