Ok lets start off with Max crosby on the Raiders... his DC is gone, they are bringing in an offensive guy at hc for a rebuild... the writing is on the wall

Also Kyler Murray, who will probably be replaced in Arizona... he wont eish to be a backup or lane duck starter

Then we have several browns, like Ward and Garrett, who have to be furious with how the HC thing went down...

Im sure hill still wants out of Miami and Aiyuk is basically assured getting cut in SF...

Philly says they are keeping AJ brown, but he is trying to burn Bridges like he is AB 2.0 right now..,

Then you have Justin Jefferies, stuck in a pretty bad spot for an aging Wr looking to win

Finally there is still a ton of smoke around Lamar to the raiders... though that would mean avlot of number wrangling to get done... maybe a Crosby/ Jackson trade with other pieces tossed in...

On a lesser note, if the Brown go with Watson, one or both young guys could demand a path out there too

You mean Justin Jefferson. And aging? Dude has been in the league, what, 6 seasons??

Whew ! Thought this was going to be a Herbig thread!
This is a guy who needs a contract extension. The Steelers need to start building through the draft again.

If I'm the Bills, I open the war chest to add an impact player on either side of the ball.

Since the Herbig indrect quote came out, regarding his desire to be a starter, I have been thinking about what happens if it is true. We have three starters, and I personally would hate to lose Herbig. That comes down to trading TJ or Highsmith.

Any thoughts?

You trade your oldest and keep the youth.

For me this is what I would do and I love Watt pimped him in the draft the year he was drafted.

There is also the idea that the new DC might be able to use him more effectively giving him a monster season. So perhaps a hard decide for the people who get paid the big bucks not I.

Trade the one that you get the most draft capital for

Isn’t next season Herbig’s last under current contract. Wondering if he’s reluctant to re sign now because of his role behind Watt and Highsmith. If the DC is creative and gives him a greater role that produces a monster season, chances are he’ll enter free agency and let the bidding war begin.

I agree, trade the oldest/or either and sign him now or lose him next year, left with an aging, often injured, more expensive duo with diminished return.

Trade TJ & Cam & possible draft pick 9late round package) for Brosa, fixes three problems for two players.

Over priced, makes room in OLB room, Brings in a dynamite DL player, and as a bonus…… gets rid of a big mouth.

Salute the nation

Out of Watt, Herbig, and Highsmith, Highsmith makes the most sense.

Watt - Fan & locker room impact is enormous, huge contract no GM wants to take on, still feel he's elite, just didn't have the coaching to help him.

Herbig - Young, cheap, huge upside, and his value to the Steelers is greater than what other teams will offer for him

Highsmith - Entering his prime years, affordable long-term contract, little to no drop in productivity if traded.

Teams like the Falcons who have a chronic need for edge rushers or the Lions who need a Edge2 opposite Hutchinson, and GM Brad Holmes is known for acquiring proven defenders, would eat up this potential trade. You could get a second round pick and possibly a player in the trade or a 2027 conditional round 4 pick.

This one definitely makes the most sense for us. Good call out. Hopefully no one pays attention to HighSmith getting injured every 3rd game! :ROFLMAO:

This, Highsmith makes the most sense and he’ll want more as well when his contract is up after 2027 and will be looking at renegotiation after this season. I read that he has a 20 and 21 million hit the next two years. Not sure if there’s a dead money hit since it was restructured a year ago but it seems the best way forward to avoid losing Herbig and Highsmith in two years unless you want to dish out another large sum to an OLB who’s prime will be behind him on his third contract. Sound familiar.

Don't want to lose Herbig, flashed this year in limited opportunity. Cannot ignore size he looks more like a safety, and durability concerns with all 3 guys would def give me pause trading TJ away.

I am absolutely running back with the 4 guys we have at OLB. Good mix of ages and styles. No way I trade one of them and make the position a need in the draft for depth.
I am also absolutely fine with Queen and Wilson as the starters at ILB as long as we have a guy like Harrison to use as needed.

yes thats his trick..
He had an at worst average to slightly above average run defense rating. It was a huge improvement. He will never be as good as a bigger guy at setting the edge, but he made some big plays in the run game. When you add that to his "one trick" he is quite valuable.

Herbig's "weakness" at run defense is vastly overstated and is believed because Tomlin pegged him as a pass rusher only.

Highsmith doesn't have the "wow" factor when he plays and gets banged up, so fans constantly want to trade him. He's freakin' good and one of the best OLBs in the league.

I heard that a number of other Browns players are demanding to be traded.
52 was the number I heard.

i wouldnt sit highsmith for him

Keep them 4 and rotate them, trade Watt or Highsmith midseason to a contender if **** hits the fan, as expected
