This is how insane these people are; I believe that I mentioned somewhere that Mrs. Zona and I are taking a road trip back to PA, Murrysville specifically, to celebrate the 75th birthday of my lifelong best friend. His wife is throwing a party for him on July 4th, not sure if it's a surprise party yet or not.

Anywho, my little sister, polar opposite politically from me will attend as well, I got permission from the host before inviting her. She lives in the South Hills and figured it would be easier for her to drive to me rather than get lost getting to her place. My baby sister and I get along fine despite the politics and look forward to seeing her.

Mrs. Zona's brother and his wife live a couple hours away from my hometown and the Mrs. called her sister-in-law and said we'd like to drive down and see them. The sister-in-law is a saint, not a contemptible bone in her body. Her response was that she would love to see us but had to check with my brother-in-law first. He called my wife this morning and said that he doesn't want me anywhere near him or his house because of my politics. Mind you, I haven't seen him since my Mother's funeral 8 years ago and he was the one ranting about politics. not me, while everyone else in the extended family was asking him stop, it's not why we've gathered here.

I honestly had no interest in seeing him, so his outburst got me off the hook, although I do feel bad that the Mrs. won't be able to hug the brother she grew up with because he's gone totally over the edge.

Similar deal with Mrs. Burgundy’s brother. He didn’t used to be political at all but over the past year he’s developed full blown TDS. People let their politics become their identity. I changed him to Acquaintance status on FB so I see less of his ****.

And whenever family rifts occur over politics its the liberal family member that initiates it 100% of the time.
I read where grandparents were cut off from seeing their grandchildren by their own liberal children because they voted for Trump.
Not a family member, but my wife lost a friend she’s known for 15 years because she voted for Trump.

We are the tolerant ones.

Out of 9 siblings, I have only one sister who is a liberal suffering from full blown TDS thank God.
She lives in the Burgh. We still communicate and socialize, but avoid politics. And in the past when politics did come up she’d be the one doing all the yelling and screaming.
