I am not saying this 2021 draft is anything like 1974.

But can you remember a draft that so much impact on the current season? I cannot.

1st 4 picks are starters. Pressley is a starter. Loudermilk and Norwood look to be future starters.

great job front office!!

It's been a good draft class, but some of these guys are starting because they don't have other options rather than the quality of the player. After a strong preseason, Moore has been bad. Green, like most rookie centers, has struggled. Obviously Harris and Freiermuth are living up to their draft status.

Green struggled early but that was somewhat to be expected with being a rookie plus a position switch. I thought he has come on well and continues to improve. Moore sure was thrust into the lineup due to injury. He is playing arguably one of the toughest positions on the Oline Left Tackle. For his struggles there is some good mixed in with some bad. So for the sake of discussion let us cross him off the list for now. That is Green,Pres,Muth,Harris and Norwood playing quality ball. And that is without listing Loudermilk as he fits to a lesser degree seeing the field due to injury and poor play. If you would tell me before the draft I would have 5 rookies playing quality ball I would be like K sure. I have to agree with OP with this class having a solid impact. Keep in mind they did have vets at T and C and TE and P that could have road blocked these rookies albeit temporarily. I won't knock them for what was in front of them but applaud them to show enough early to get considerations.

Very true slash, great post.

Moore is in a pecular place. He needs to play better but still is playing adiquate per sey. Who would be a better replacement ? Okorafor has had many here say he is playing worse than ever. FSF considers a slight advantage Moore over Okorafor. The two OL rookies, Moore & Green, would have benefitted much by sitting a year and learning the trade but like you say they are shoved in due to injury or actually beating eeveryone else on the roster.

I'm not in favor of sitting any player unless the replacement is truely better. We will find out soon enough as our coaching will have to make a decision they decided they would have to make over two weeks ago. Yea, that last part doesn't make sense but is the gist of Coach Tomlins explanation of such.

Salute the nation

Like SF448 said, starting out of necessity is not the same as starting because of performance. Neither Moore or Green would have started over Pouncey or Decastro their rookie years. Harris and Muth will both be solid long term picks, right now, a lot of the other picks seem to be better suited for depth than starting roles. That could change over the season or next couple of years as players develop. Right now, I would be hard pressed to seeing Chuk, Moore, or Green starting for many other teams in the NFL. I also think that the drop off between Moore and Green and Finney and Haeg is minimal at best if not an even trade.

Well Moore is a T and DeCastro and Pouncey are not. I actually think Moore is playing pretty damn well.

We will see what the Steelers view his play at currently really quickly. With Banner available on the right soon. Will Chuks get the nod over Moore? We shall see. I think personally he will stick.
