A Football Life…James Harrison

One if my favorite players… the end of his stint here was no different to me than the misteps around troy or franco or Woodson or webster …. Many a Steelers great had horrible divorces at the end, but they still were greats….

I do not recall those guys being deliberately disruptive pricks at the team facility in order to prompt a release from the team.

He acted about as unprofessional as Blount and Brown did near the end of their respective times with the team.

I do not hold it against him in the grand scheme of things, as it was only small aspect of his time with the Steelers, but he was total ******** at the end.

This is very accurate. But I would add that Tomlin lied to him and completely mismanaged him. I blame a guy less for being a dick over the fact that he just wanted to play (and worked hard to be ready) then say money. If Tomlin had no plans for him in the season he should have released him after camp. He was kept as a 15 -20 snap guy and he wasn't dressing.

Watch it for what it is, life's football for James Harrison. He was involved in TOP 1 or 2 of the greatest play ever in SuperBowl history, no arguement. He is the all time sack leader for the most LB storied franchise in the NFL. He has so many acolades it's hard to keep track of them. He has dominated at his position for at least 6 years of his career. He should make first ballot HOF. Just to many things to not acknowledge his greatness.

Some want to bring him down by his eding here, it is what it is but that ending doesn't take away what he accomplished.

I think Watt quickly exceeded their expectations for him as a rookie and it compelled them to give him more playing time at the expense of Harrison.

It was similar to what happened with Blount. They promised him this and that based on what they expected from Bell in his second season, and Bell changed their plans.

On one hand, I do not blame guys for wanting to play, but on the other, they're getting paid an absurd amount of money, relative to the average person, to be on a team and used as the coaches see fit.

Don't deny his efforts on the field of play or his workout routines and preparations to do what he did. Wish the end of his career turned out a different way but alot of work relationships don't end well. Does not change that he was a great Steeler.

I was looking at Wikipedia and it was interesting that in his final game at Kent State, they were plaing Miami University. Near the end of the game holding onto a 24 20 lead, he sacked Big Ben on third and fourth down preserving the victory.

He played for the Reihn Fire in 2003.

Just a couple tidbits that I didn't know or completely forgot.

Also had some "anger management" issues in high school costing him offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame and Nebraska. One of which was shooting a BB gun in the locker room while reportedly aiming at the defensive coach. Sorry but I lol.

I hear yaz Paul and I realize he left on questionable terms but EXACTLY like you say,..... it doesn't take away from how great a player he was when he played in the B & G.

I will never forget an interview i saw about the fan he destroyed on the field… it was hilarious…. The guy was drunkenly running at cowher on a dare and he got royally ****** up, couldn’t sue cause he was committing a crime, got a huge fine, hospital bills, and banned for life from all nfl games

If they played him the way they play their edge players now. No problem. And Bud Dupree wasn't exactly lighting it up.

Great production, he was a beast as a linebacker. He is correct the best SB play and second best in Steelers lure, did clear up ending in Pittsburgh and I would say Tomlin still has mustard on his face from that period. It surly shows how much the physicality has been taken out of this team today.
