Several members of the Steelers' offense wanted Justin Fields to return as their quarterback. And also that they do expect Rodgers to come to Pittsburgh -- it is practically a done deal at this point, just not officially announced yet.

Take it for what it's worth, but my source spoke directly to a player who starts for the Steelers.

Is it only me that senses Rodgers having a strange demeanor about him?
I hope I’m reading him wrong, but he looks disinterested.
Only driven to get the contract he wants. If he happens not to live up to his reputation on the field so be it.

Idk this entire Rodgers situation is really leaving a bad taste for me. This is not the same QB of five years ago when he was a Packer and a league MVP.
His mobility is really almost non existent and behind our young still a work in process OL, this could get ugly.
Also, will he pull his usual act of wanting some of his guys on the team? If things go wrong it should get interesting when he starts playing the blame game.
Oh well, we shall see!

Yeah, Aditi Kinkhabwala is typically mimicking what players tell her, and she was insanely pro Fields... my guess was they werent as sold on Fields as the players. I think they concluded early on that if they were gonna have to guarantee 30 million to fields or meet Wilsons early asking price, they may as well give Rodgers a shot.. I just hope they dont think Rodgers is worth 45 million or more...

What's $45 mill if Rodgers brings home the bacon?

Another Tomlinship that is!!!!!!

From where I sit it looks like a disaster. Rogers will get overpaid. He will only play so so. Finger pointing. Evil eyes between Rodgers and Tomlin. A soap opera. Not a lot of wins. A lot of chatter. This will be the last year Rodgers wears a football uniform.

My sources are worried we're not gonna finish .500 or better. Actually, unless you count the head coach, I don't have any sources.
Me source is thinking its 20 year mission: to explore new mediocrity; to seek out new mediocre and new winning seasons; to boldly go where no mediocre man has gone before!

Haha. No. It's not only you. Watch his Netflix Doc. Yes he is pretty different fella.

I hope that birdie is going extinct. The best AR can do is kick the can down the road of NLS. More realistically, he will probably not do well here, and cause issues. Hopefully, those issues lead the the next head coach sooner.

I think no matter how it goes, Tomlin is going to be linked to this decision for a long time. It may be the reason he's out the door sooner, could also be the reason he gets an extension. If it goes like most here expect, it might even effect his next job, if he chooses to still coach. And when I say, "no matter how this goes", I'm including the possibility that he doesn't even sign here. Rooney said he trusts what Tomlin is doing, could be a washing of his hands type moment for Rooney. Lots of guessing right now on all sides, on all outcomes.

This is the last place you want your franchise to be, and it inevitably happens to all franchises, but finding that franchise QB to lead your team for the next decade plus...it's not fun. Makes you really appreciate Ben all that more.

Look, outside of the top guys, who in the NFL can throw it better than Rodgers, even at his age? My hope is they sign him and it keeps them from making a mistake and overdrafting a QB this year. I know all the possible negatives, but it also could go pretty well. There is a chance.

Williamson floated the idea of drafting Matthew Golden in the first if he is there if they get Rodgers. It's an interesting thought. It'd be fun to see some exciting offense in Pittsburgh. We wouldn't know how to act.

I'm not against drafting Golden, he wouldn't be my first choice given the needs on the DL and the prospects that should be available...But if we do, we better unload some other WR to pick up some picks, and I'm not talking about GP. I would love to move Austin or Wilson, or both.

my source is @Badcat and he says "**** all y'all"

Yeah, I agree. And Williamson was clear he thinks the first pick needs to be DL, and then one again later. It was just an idea he floated, which I thought was intriguing.

I'm no draft guy. So I like listening to him and the different scenarios he puts together.

I think Roman Wilson could be a nice surprise for us this year. He didn't get much time due to injuries, but he's got a year learning the offense and being around the guys. He might not have 4.29 speed, but 4.39 is pretty darn fast.

Pat McAfee has an event in Pittsburgh at PPG Arena this coming Wednesday. What are the odds that Rogers appears and makes his announcement then?

if that happens and A-aron makes marketing coin, I'm hopeful that the Steelers both understand this and have a reasonable contract that gives them some benefit (lower cap hit) for his non-Steeler marketing biz that will clearly use the Steelers.

Also, if this happens, I wonder about all the other players attempting similar; a clear one-off is a must.

That's been a running rumor for awhile now.
