Look at guys like Belichick, Reid, even Cowher, and their assistants go on to be head coaches, coordinators, or just flat-out successful. But with Tomlin? Nothing.

Mike Tomlin doesn’t want coaches who are smarter than him. Instead of bringing in guys who could take the team to the next level, he hires buddies and yes-men who won’t challenge him. Look at the guys he’s kept around:

• Randy Fichtner – Only had a job because he was tight with Big Ben. Dude was running an offense straight out of Madden ‘08.

• Keith Butler – Just kept Dick LeBeau’s defense on autopilot until it got outdated.

• Matt Canada – Absolute train wreck, but Tomlin still dragged his feet firing him. Until fans chanting embarrassed the **** out of Tomlin in national TV.

Meanwhile, teams like the 49ers and Chiefs are pumping out elite coaches left and right. Shanahan’s assistants are running half the league now.

And that’s the thing—great coaches don’t fear great assistants. Look at guys like Andy Reid. He’s had Eric Bieniemy, Matt Nagy, Doug Pederson—hell, even Sean McDermott under him. They learned, they grew, and they got their own teams. Tomlin would rather keep the power to himself than bring in someone who might actually push him—or worse, prove he’s been holding the team back all these years. That’s why the Steelers keep spinning their wheels.

18 Tomlinship's and counting!!!!!!!🤪

2008 was a pretty good year for madden. Was that the hitstick year? If not close to it.

You are 100% correct. Tomlin needs to change or go. I do not see him changing.

Hopefully it can be more of A.s. offense in the second year.
I know not much, but at least we won't be able to call the play 99% of the time presnap

You’re pretty spot on here Double D.
Coordinators and position coaches have been a joke. Terrell Austin, nobody wanted him after failures in Detroit and Cincinnati except Tomlin.
He had Brian Flores here who would have been perfect to be our DC but far too much of a threat to Mikey T.
I’m sick of the current Rooney’s and their great head coach. They’ve destroyed the once proud Steeler image.

It’s all a western omelette on Art Nutting’s face at this point

And only a western omelette cuz
BACON!!!

Making the Steelers palatable for the last several
Seasons …loaded bakers, bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped filets, bacon cheeseburgers, bacon dip, BLTs, bacon steaks, you get the picture

If Mike’s gonna keep passing out **** sandwiches imma need a lotta bacon

We ALL will need......lotta bacon.

Pirates fans had a saying about management's goal - just barely good enough to avoid being a clownshow. The nickname was "the drive for seventy-five," i.e., 75 wins is the goal.

The Steelers have had a similar approach for at least 7 seasons. I call it, "the design for nine."

I’m not sure you want to look at Belichick as a positive example for a coaching tree. His have been disasters.

Y down on Tom Lin ?

All just a big misunderstanding………..

Salute the nation

Did you know Tomlin has never had a losing season?

Actually, Fichtner didn't have much to do with Ben, if they cared what Ben thought, BA never would've been fired, and Haley would've never been hired.

Fichtner and Tomlin are old friends, they both coached together at the collegiate level, Fichtner was Tomlins very first hire after Tomlin was named head coach in 2007, so it's just another friend Tomlin promoted.

Smith was hired. I took a wait and see approach on how the offense would be run. Ended up all but the same as the previous OCs unfortunately.

Exactly, multiple OC's, multiple QB's, but same old same old only points to one guy, Tomlin.

Unfortunately, you couldn't be more right. Clown-lin clearly is afraid of hiring coaches who are smarter than he is, and it's so ***** obvious.

He ran the 31st pass defense in Minnesota as defensive coordinator in 2006. He is who he is.
The 31st pass D, and got a higher up job, incredible, but he says cute quips so....
