Andy Weidl draft interview - a good watch.

You can tell from this interview that Weidl had a big influence on the draft. Also, very interesting they gave him his own press conference.
I never remember a Steelers assistant getting that. I mean they had positional coaches talk about picks but to get his own draft press conference?

In the interview fans would ask a question, and Andy would always correct any misguided questions with "we" or verbiage indicating team effort not just his doing. While I simultaneously thought yeah you can be humble and deflect to signify team process but this envelope had Andy stamps all over it. His trench philosophy just seemed to be strong in free agency and the draft. Moreso than I can remember thinking back on times past.

And this isn't to downplay Tomlin, Omar, and the scouts impact. But the reports were out on what he influenced in Philly. As well as him setting the board.

As was said by Andy that Tomlin etc. was asked what they looked for and it was "their" job to go out and find these prospects that fit that criteria. Then he went on to talk about that he believes that games are won winning trench battles on both sides of the ball.

So yeah kudos to the Steelers as a whole but I have no doubt in Andy's role in the team building of this year's beginning.

GREAT find slash, thank you for posting.!!!

It is well worth the listen and the read.

I like how modest he is and down to earth in that he compliments and credits many in the work side of things. He really touches on is scouts, relying on them and how much time they put in.

I don’t know his long term here, but I’d like him to stick, make his presence known for years to come.

Somewhere between Colbert being gone & Mike Tomlin more accepting input, we got a hellA draft class and off season personnel additions.

Maybe accepting more input or perhaps just continuous input but better guided.

Either or embracing trench building not only does it help the long term competitive aspect of the team but also can provide job stability for Tomlin. Maybe to some fans dismay.

I have always said through any criticism that I dished out that my bottom line is playoffs and winning some of them while feeling the team is competitive through that process. That can come with X and O help surrounding each OC and DC but can also be heavily influenced by team talent. Specifically trench building and besides trench building a solid overall approach to free agency and the draft. Finding not just athletes or just football players. But athletic football players that have a significant value within that. Long corners capable of playing sound man. Trench players capable of playing the run exceptionally while being good enough against the pass. A TE that can high end pass block and embraces it as a passion. Carrying this on through free agency and the draft but not just through some of it but until the bitter end. A slot corner came within the draft and late picks didn't sway to hey this guy can play STs or maybe they will be a good backup. No they can maybe be a good starter and if not well at least they tried.

The approach was refreshingly altered and I am stoked about that.

Say I give you a bowl of sand then I give you a different bowl filled with rocks and clay and a sand mixture. You build two nifty sand castles on the beach. The tide is high and we are losing ground, which one gets wiped away first?

So many un-answered questions, being in construction most of my life.

I’ll answer two part….

1) I’ll start filing change orders on the first option, before even starting construction on said sand castle.

2) Materials samples will have to be taken and sent to the lab to verify the validity of said materials For sand + added castle

Bonus Questions all home owners need to ask………..

1) soil study to make sure foundation can be adequately supported long term (including shrinkage of base material.

2) A list of all sub-contractors & proof of insurance, contact information for each.

3) ONLY distribute a “FINAL” copy of blue print, nothing in between. ALL job proposals are submitted using same final blueprint.

OK, Mr. Builder, Get that to me and I’ll gladly answer your question……….

AS for Spirit world building, there are no boundaries and yes,…… many homes / experiences are spent underwater, but in a dry sense of touch. It’s like being there, but not being there…..

"Umm, Alex (or Ken.. or Blossom.. or), I think the answer you're looking for is... 'what is Jesus' parable in Matthew 7: 24-27'?"
