From another site, not sure about the rules of posting it here: Behind The Steel Curtain

Very curious timing, another “hostage” release??

Who is RB3 now?

We were told about his massive game changing role all camp. The dumpster fire grows

We have Godwin Igwebuike (sp) as a 3rd RB but he also played safety his whole college career too, so there's that.

He's obviously better as a kick returner than "one-game" McFarland so far and we need room with 2 safeties out injured (Thompson and Fitz), 1 suspended (Kazee), 1 on IR (Neal), 1 coming back from IR (Riley) and 1 whose not a safety (Peterson).

Yea, anyone remember how he was being lauded this year in camp? Then the season started and he went back immediately to being irrelevant game days. Who could have predicted that? I remember those days in August where so many fans were forecasting McFarland's greatness. THIS was the year he was putting it ALL TOGETHER. Another Shades' "inside information" MD pick falters once again.

Really? I honestly don't recall any of that.

This is part of " change " Tomlin was talking about. A very bold move.

Probably to make room for a S or LB from the practice squad.

Tomlin clearly sending a message to the locker room.

3rd team RB and 2nd team KO Returner doesn’t carry much job security.

He was rumored by lots of “insiders” to be a key weapon this year with lots of things in the playbook for him

In fairness he did get hurt early in the year but when he came back-nothing

It’s not like this offense is gushing with successful plays and there wasn’t room to get him involved

It was being posted on some other Steeler boards: McFarland had the speed like no other RB we had, he just had injury issues until now, now we were going to see him complete Canada's system and really excel. I was not so convinced.

LOL Same fools thought kenny was gonna be a stud and a healthy Najee was gonna show all the haters and cement himself as the bellcow? Mcfarland was fools gold from day 1.

And that Mount Washington was gonna threaten Eric Green's production, AND that Austin was gonna be one of the league's most dangerous deep threats, etc. McFarland has never been anything but fool's gold, his main accomplishment was he played for MD, which Shades drools over for some reason. Enough with the Shade's philosophies and quirks, freakin' enough with his bull s--- already. Enough.

McFarland has vision and balance issues. Still.

He will not be missed...

Austin was supposed to be a burner. Has shown no speed. The only burner in the afc north that has backed up the hype this year was keaton mitchell in baltimore before he got hurt. That kid looked like a weapon and was pretty much baltimores best RB as a rookie.

When Canada pushed to draft him there was all this talk he would be used like how the pats used James White and all the backs during the brady era just run circle and triangle routes up the middle get in space and get small chunk yds here n there, never used.

Except when he's absolutely smoked defenders on deep routes and end arounds, but when you don't even bother to use him it's hard for him to show his speed

When will they stop the bleeding of these players that never get used properly?
Remember the days of the old adage "he was never used properly, he'd look good in black and gold"......now we're the team not using players properly......what a sad state we are in

Tomlin once more comes through, talk about hype in training camp and then never given a shot on this pathetic offense. Good job shades.
