Just wondering if there is any more to Okorafor’s benching and cut besides him saying on the sidelines that they should just kneel instead of running Canadas dink and dunk offense down 2 scores with 3 minutes left in a game

Were there more problems or is that it?

The sum total of his play in two seasons prior to the incident. That was a problem. Plus having a viable option to take his place.
Now let's see if they are smart enough to do the right thing and move Jones to the left whether Dan Moore "is uncomfortable" on the right or not. That whole premise that Moore can't be moved to the right because he's not comfortable is bullshit. If he's not the best option on the left, he shouldn't be starting. Weakening the line to appease that bullshit is just stupid.

We were sucking and losing, and I guess on the sidelines he said something along the lines of "why dont' we just down it and get out of here"

Tomlin doesn't like to be criticized. Dissenting voices are removed. Dictator. Some would say punk.
He was critical of Matt Canaduh, who was Tomlin’s guy.

Dionte and Pickens can quit on the field, mid play and it's all good though.
Goes back to what I said about having a viable option to replace Chuks (Jones) and not having ones to replace Dionte or George. Depth remains a problem with this team. I blame that on the triumverate of Tomlin, Colbert and ARll. Omar and Weidl seem to be addressing it as best they can so far. Would like to see them address WR depth a little better this year; either through FA or by drafting a WR in the middle rounds. Dionte is in the last year of his contract so a depth/developmental WR with upside to start is a sneaky need.

We gotta trade DJ and get some value, he shouldn't get another big contract here.
Draft a WR and bring a vet to take his place.

The team wanted a running game on Offense and chuks didn't cut it, add that he was always getting flags and then he opens his mouth publicly to criticize, well, lets say he didn't have the cards to play that hand
So true, a number of past and present key contributors could have said the same thing (considering it was spot on) and remained on the field.

agreed, but he could've sat them for just a quarter the next game, or something, instead he basically talked them up when asked about it at the weekly presser, and we wonder why the culture has steadily fallen off here. Hell there was even video of Pickens in practice, after the play he quit on, he's barely putting effort in the drill.

All of the above posts speak of lame leadership. Or not. I might just be raysist.
Different rules for different players!
It’s like the brand in Yellowstone. When you’re in with Shades, you’re in. If you’re not, you go to the train station.
Or at least until fans at Penguins games are chanting for you to be fired. Shades has no power at the Consol.

I’m not sure we have a viable option. Sure Jones is the future but Moore is not, then we get stuck with only Moore in the back half of last season. Shades should have addressd Chucks internally like Pickens, instead it was a permanent benching and a cut. Now we just have Moore and free agent tackles are a premium price. Now we are almost forced to draft tackle in round 1 or blow our cap on a FA

DK eluded there was more to the story of Chuks issues and that was why I posed the question of the full story, but I guess that’s the extent of it

The brilliance of HC MT

Chuks would have collected a premium price check while being average, so what's the difference ?

the market is going to go up, because the salary cap just got increased by 30 million

I would say we now half to pay more for a comparable Chucks replacement in FA, or half to spend a premium draft pick for a new tackle, or get stuck with Jones and a scrub

Totally TRUE SteelBuckeye. In all my years of various team sports coaching, I leaned early…..

“YOU don’t create a hole, to fill a hole”

Moore should have been moved day one. Jones & Moore both should have started LT Jones, RT Moore in training camp and all pre-season—— then FULL SEASON.

Continuing Moore at LT is NUTs. Great example of actually scheming your players into less favorable positions.

This was the part that pissed me. Everyone who's ever coached anything knows the rules are not administered exactly the same. But because Okorafor was replaceable he was benched and is gone. I might add in a brief fit of frustration on the sideline. But he only said what world thought. And it was addressed several weeks later with firing. Johnson and Pickens kept doing and saying **** over and over with time to think. Anyone who is a friend of Chuks must be like this is bulllshit.
