The Pittsburgh Steelers made big moves in the 2024 offseason to bring in two capable starting quarterbacks in Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Head Coach Mike Tomlin was very clear that Wilson was in pole position to be the starter, but a calf injury forced him to miss the first six games of the season. In that time, Fields did a remarkable job leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record. It’s not common for a head coach to bench a quarterback who’s been playing well and winning, but that’s exactly what Tomlin did, inserting Wilson into the lineup.
