The have been following the other thread. I have been reading and watching all this crap about DeflateGate. Listened to all the endless comments on how everyone does it and seen the different websites that list all the things other teams have done are just an attempt to draw attention from the *pats. I have wanted to comment on SO many of the posts but it seemed like I was beating a dead horse. Restating what everyone else has said or trying to make sense out of those who I didn’t agree with. It all comes down to the following:
The fundamental difference with their cheating ways and the other teams cheat is that there is a PATTERN in what the *pats are doing. Yes everyone will try once to get away with something that is human nature. But when you have been warned REPEATEDLY that you are doing things that are wrong you should learn from your mistakes.
If you are repeatedly told to quit bending the rules and you don’t then guess what you are going to be caught ONE too many times and the hammer is going to fall (or at least it should).
I have listened to everyone make excuses for them. Most, not all, of the other teams do not do that. There are a few that have and it seems to me that those cases have backfired. Just to point out a few things that were handled properly – Ben’s transgressions , Santonio’s and Bells’s issues, Steelers over the cap (btw they turned themselves in ) All were dealt with in the appropiate way and yes we complained , of course we said the punishment was unfair. We as fans have a right to do that , but you know what our MANAGEMENT were the ones that made sure the process was done right not covered up.
Yes we have had our share of what people can say are cheating events but can anyone tell me did any of those things change the out come of the game ?? I know some of you are going to say that deflating the ball is no big deal. I really don’t believe that. Think about it. Can a receive get a better hold on a ball that is a little underdeflated. I have not seen a football deflated to that amount but I am sure a SOFTER football is easier to catch. Can a Running back get a better hold on it. According to the Bus .. YES !!! He even demonstrated it on TV right after the Championship game.
The fact that T*m was one of the front runners for changing the way balls were handled on game day and the fumble statistics for the *pats this was something that he has been doing for YEARS !! Of course they are not going to go back an revisit that but I don’t believe this is a one time thing. Practice makes perfect , doing something enough times makes it easier. So something that once took minutes could take seconds ..
Not the same but example. Anyone have an alarm system – first time you armed it it probably took you several minutes , making sure you hit the correct code and the button to start the system. How many of you now leave your house , arm the sytem and get into your car and think .. “Did I set the alarm” it becomes second nature. Practice makes perfect.
The *pats have practiced cheating for SO long they themselves don’t think it is cheating anymore. The average fan can see it , the other teams in the league can see it , lets just hope the NFL offices do something about it. I am hoping that this appeal opens a can of worms that cannot be put back into the can. I may be hoping for the impossible but I have to have hope so that I can once again go back to enjoying the game that I love to watch. If not then I may continue only watching my Steelers play for entertainment and not get invested in the game as much as I use to, which will be a sad day for the sport because I don’t think I will be alone in that.
