Beau Bennett gone. Traded for a 3rd round pick.
Fleury to start '16-17 with Pens
Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to start the 2016-17 season with Pittsburgh, according to Sportsnet's John Shannon.
He received the news from Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford. Fleury's name has come up in plenty of trade rumors

The first pick being a goalie is very interesting, and telling. On the other hand, the Pens need to restock their depleted farm system.
Good. I am still interested to see how Murray plays when guys are laying out to block every shot that comes their way. Defense plays quite a bit looser during the regular season.
I also noticed on some of the reports that the Pens drafted for a lot of toughness. Curious given they just won the Cup with speed and skill.
It is a foregone conclusion that Flower will leave us. He will most probably be gone a month into the season, due to injury or some over reaction to a bad goalie start.Something tells me this is going to be the shortest offseason thread ever. Prepare for a quiet summer. Enjoy The Cup.
The Pens are right up against the Cap. They cannot make a move to shore up the top six, or to sign anyone of significance
Trading Fleury at the draft to someone he would agree to go to, the Pens would have an extra $5.75 million to work with to strengthen other areas of the team....but Calgary was the only one in desperate need of a starting goalie and they just picked up Elliott from the Blues.
Rumor is Pens wanted #6 overall for Fleury and Flames said no.
Speaking of farm system. WBS or Pittsburgh needs to look into Cody Wydo from the Wheeling Nailers. Similar to Conor Sheary in terms of speed/stick handling. I think he'd look great for WBS.
Yah I know there isn't a ton of news. If we are generating topics though we could drive up the popularity of the forum. Possibly get some more Penguin first fans like MTC.
We need D
Justin Schultz doesn't get QO, becomes UFA
Justin Schultz did not get a qualifying offer from Pittsburgh.
He can test unrestricted free agency now, but still could sign with the Penguins for less than the $3.9 million he earned last year. Schultz skated in 18 regular-season games and 15 playoff matches with Pittsburgh in 2015-16 after he was acquired from Edmonton.
