Bell ruled out for game vs. Ravens

The Steelers will play the Wild Card Round game without RB Le'Veon Bell.

The Steelers have ruled Le’Veon Bell out of tomorrow’s AFC Wild Card Playoff Game vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

Bell, the Steelers MVP and the second-leading rusher in the NFL this season, sustained a hyper-extended knee in the AFC North-clinching victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday night at Heinz Field.

There was no structural damage to the knee, but Bell still was unable to practice at all this week.

As possible replacements at running back, the Steelers have rookie Josh Harris, who had served as Bell’s backup since been brought up from the practice squad on Nov. 18 after the team released LeGarrette Blount; veteran Ben Tate, signed early this week as insurance; and rookie Dri Archer, the team’s third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Run Josh Run

Oline is the key. Open holes and Harris proved he can run thru them. If the Ravens try to play the pass and keep their safeties deep the oline has to step up and make them pay. Harris is a bowling ball(5-11 220). Went to the same high school as Barry Foster lets hope he runs like him Saturday nite.

Not surprised. Godspeed Bell, and lets win one for LeVeon!

hopefully steve smith hasnt started his cycle again

I knew he wasn't going to play.

The Steelers never run well against the Ravens anyway, but Bell is a huge loss in the short passing game. I just hope they do not over utilize Archer to compensate, leaving Roethlisberger vulnerable to the huge hit in the process

I think Harris is a capable runner, I'm more concerned with the fumbling potential with the pressure of a playoff game. Along with the running game he'll be Ben's check-down and at times called on to make critical receptions. Let's hope he's getting some good instruction on securing the ball.

On the play Bell was injured on Johnson was in the backfield with Ben in the shotgun. I think we will see more of that. It will take a committee to replace Bell.

Because they stacked the line to keep Bell in check. That opened up the passing game for Ben. Harris needs some solid runs or the Ravens will play back on pass defense.

The Steelers struggles to run on them precede Leveon Bell. The Ravens have been strong in the front 7 basically since they came into existence.

To funny, love it !!!!! Dri is just a speed bump, waiting to rip your tire off, block like a 18lb midget, we'll be ok.

Johnson is a pass catcher, hope they right combination the Will & Josh team.

This is very true, the murderer, could tackle, just look at his stats, nuogh said.

Salute the nation

Harris will put up at least 75 on the ground as the starter. Dri and Tate will back him up. AB pulls in 2 TD's.

Ben to Ben connection. Josh Harris, shouldn't he be Crab Fishing?

Dri ? I still don't get his being active. What can he do besides decoy or be a piece of a Play the Defense knows is coming?

The Rats draft run stoppers. Other than San Diego and the Texans who each gained around 95 yards rushing, no team this year ran over 100 yards against the Rats. But as has been discussed earlier, TRYING to run on them opens up possibilities in the air.

Ben Tate - Two 1 yd rushing TD's

we win!

this should take the cockiness out of them for sure

I'd like to see (when bell is back) dri and bell split back. Dri always rolls out, sometimes maybe a pitch. Using him as a Rb doesn't seem to work on its own. Dude is smaller than the troll under the bridge.

Actually, when they came into existence they had a very weak D, but a pretty good O with Vinny Testeverde having his best seasons.

Even though it pains me to see this I think it's the right move. IF we get past the Ravens we need him as healthy as possible. IMO the Ravens D is the hardest to run against than any other playoff team and should gash whoever we play after them.

The Ravens D plan will be to stuff the run no matter who is back there. They will bet everything on the non starter who is back there screwing up his blocking assignments when we go pass and then feasting on Ben, this is the only way they can protect their DB's.

They've had success before in tossing Ben around early then Ben having them in his head and as a result 7 turning in a ****** performance. It all hinges on the O-line, they have to at least give Harris the ability to get 1 or 2, no back to back stuffs in the B.F.

Rookie trying to block Harrison?

Exactly....far as I can tell, them not having Monroe is a far bigger loss than us without Bell. I bet Harrison's been licking his chops since he first heard Monroe is out
