That's what the man said this morning on the Fan. He lost feeling in his little finger and ring finger on his right hand in the first half after slamming it against a player's helmet but by no means Ben was not making excuses and said that he was taking full responsibility for the loss. That would explain in part why he was missing so badly in the first half.

He hits his hand on opposing players' helmets, shoulder pads etc. more often than any QB I've ever seen. Wonder why that is. Oh, never mind, I just thought about it ... our OL is not very good.

Definitely banged it pretty good but he was missing open receivers before the injury. Just a very bad day for Ben...it happens.

I thought he banged it against a player's wrist?

I'll say it again, NINE pass attempts counting the one he hits his hand on. 3 completions, one throw away to avoid the sack, and three facing extreme pressure. That leaves two, one the deep pass to Wheaton, not an easy pass to begin with despite what others think, the other a miss to Brown. People act like he had 20 attempts and 3 completions before he hit his hand...

a lot of people don't seem to want to lay the blame for some of Bens problems where they really belong. Right at the feet of this ****** up coaching staff, and an ownership that seems to care more about the money and being politically correct than they do about championships. look at the lines that surround what most consider elite quarterbacks. almost every ******* team out there that drafts a franchise QB surrounds him with people that can protect him and keep his *** off the ground. What did our great coach say? you can protect your QB two ways, get him a great oline or get him weapons. Well how has that worked out captain obvious?

We laugh at other QB's cause they hit the ground as soon as they feel pressure. if Ben were to do that he would never complete another goddamn pass. It's awesome to be able to say I got to see ALL of our SB wins and losses, but this aint the steeler team my dad taught me to love. it sure as **** aint coached or run/owned like it was when the chief was still around. It's not just Godell, that's ruining the game. Art ll is killing the steeler football I grew up on. like it or not that's a fact.

Well said.

Ben threw the ball 58 times and Martavis Bryant had 1 catch - and dropped another TD.

chew on that one

No wonder ben stopped looking his way.

I'd say Bryant has been passed by Wheaton for #2 for the rest of the year..

C'mon bro.

Ben has arguably a top 3 WR. Ben has arguably a top 3 RB. And although Heath would struggle to beat Casey Hampton in the 40yd dash- Miller is one of the more dependable TE's in the league.

The O-line is far from perfect, but it is at least average, with some talented guys in Pouncey and DeCastro. A much better O-line than, say, GB and IND. And their QB's have performed just fine.

We have FAR more than enough firepower to get the job done. How many more weapons does the FO need to provide?! How would an elite LT prevent Ben from making those errant passes on Sunday? At some point you gotta stop making excuses and hold the QB accountable. Simply put, if Ben wants to be held in this 'elite' category (and paid as one), we need to be able to depend on him to carry the team by putting up 6 points rather than 3.

Maybe that's why the Bruce had him do all those 7 step drops.

Seriously though, what I would like to see is more (or some) designed roll outs / bootlegs. Ben thrives outside of the collapsing pocket, so get him out of it.

You cant saaaaaaaaaaay that..........Ben gets as long if not longer pocket times to throw than most quarterbacks in the league....hes gotten plenty of time to drop back, plant and deliver. Most of our sacks are on him...hes even admitted for years. Its a style you live and die with. Holdin the ball til the very last second. If the line was so bad then why wouldnt he do more quick three step drops and launch ? I actually think Ben has this seaons longest pocket time....it was like 12 seconds and he still ran into the defender for a sack (on a three man rush)

Or how would an elite LT help Bryant catch a TD
that hit him right in the hands that would've made it 10-0, or kept Miller from tripping over the goal line on what would've been another easy 6 and would've made it 28-20.
Ben was bad, but there were two TD's that were results of other guys screwing up, we got Six on those two drives instead of what should've been 14

That "what if' pendulum couldve swung the OTHER WAY and a couple passes picked and blew this game wider than it already was.

They should have put Bruce in for the second half.

Tomlin: "You can't do that!"

I'm not sure why, with the lack of speed and separation Wheaton got on that opening deep fly pattern.

Plus, Rogers was under pressure all day in the NE game and got his hand stepped on too.

Wait. Bryant has 6 TD catches this year.

Heyward-Bey has done nothing all year, but Ben doesn't hesitate to throw a long ball in his direction that gets picked. So he has faith in a guy who has done nothing, but Bryant drops a TD, even though he has caught 6 and bailed Ben out on a throw over the middle earlier in the game, but he won't throw to Bryant.

Makes sense.

And how many times has Ben his his target with a man draped all over him? I've seen Rodgers get planted and the ball go high, or wide. ALL QB's will have some off days, but the OL didn't help him at all. One bad game and it's all on Ben, but just a few weeks ago we had threads about Ben punching his elite card, finally getting the recognition he deserved, and now it's all his fault. Last I checked, it was a TEAM sport. Ben can't ALWAYS throw the ball with pressure in his face, sometimes the OL has to step up and keep guys from smacking the **** out of him. Sometimes the WR's have to make a tough catch, or an easy catch to help the QB out. Even Miller dropped a pass that hit him in the numbers.

But sure, put ALL the blame on Ben, it's ALL his fault.

I'll end this with one name.... MIKE ADAMS!!

Rodgers had a ton of time in that game, he had. Seconds on one attempt, also saw Rodgers hold the ball to long run up to the LOS, then back peddle and take a sack.

maybe the question should be asked to Tomlin why DHB is on the field so much

Not blaming it all on Ben and we're fortunate to have him, but he needs to step it up, his poor performances against the bad teams is what has cost us those wins, in fact when you analyze the 7-5 record the wins came when Ben played lights out, the losses when Ben played bad, regardless of whether the opponent was a winning or crappy team. When Ben plays good we win, when he plays bad we lose. With all our holes I don't expect to win every game against solid opponents, but I expect Ben to at least carry the team against the crappy opponents. Even winning just 2 out of 3 against the Bucks,Jets, Saints, and we're cruising towards a division championship and competing for home field advantage.
