In what’s just about the oldest “rivalry” in the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Cleveland Browns this Halloween day at FirstEnergy Stadium. This will be the 140th meeting between the two clubs, with the Steelers leading the all-time series, 77–61–1 (including a 2-1 edge in the playoffs). That hasn’t stopped Browns fans however from letting Steeler Nation know just how much it feels like the tables have turned here in recent years — especially after last season’s Wild Card matchup.

Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger is 24-3-1 all-time against the Browns. Up until 2020, Roethlisberger actually held the record for “most wins” as a starting quarterback at FirstEnergy Stadium with 11 (that record is now held by Baker Mayfield with 12). Roethlisberger knows this matchup all too well, and knows exactly what the Cleveland fanbase is all about just as much.

As Roethlisberger also mentioned in his time with the media on Wednesday, this rivalry isn’t what it once was. The Browns have become far more competitive in recent years after adding Mayfield, Jarivs Landry, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and a rebooted offensive line. That didn’t stop Roethlisberger however from letting Cleveland know how much success he’s had against them up to this point.

Ben Roethlisberger on the Steelers-Browns rivalry continuing to evolve now that it’s not quite so one-sided.

“We’re always going to be rivals and it’s always going to be great games.

It feels like between Steeler Nation and the “Dawg Pound,” the fanbases are at an all-time high of being at each other’s throats. It’s nice to see Roethlisberger show his respects for such a passionate rival fanbase.

The Steelers currently sit in fourth place in the AFC North, and a win against the Browns would certainly begin to swing momentum back in Pittsburgh’s favor. The Steelers still have five divisional games left to play this season, so anything can happen. The Browns will have a questionable Mayfield and Chubb heading into Sunday’s matchup, with Hunt already being listed as out. The Steelers just activated both offensive tackle, Zach Banner, and running back, Anthony McFarland, as it feels like this is probably the healthiest the Steelers have been since Week 1. *knock on wood*

Who do yinz like in this scary Halloween matchup come Sunday? Do the Steelers get their revenge from last season’s Wild Card game? Or do the Browns continue to rely on their “potent” running attack all the way to a W? Click to comment below!
