Ben should know! He was part of the organization for eighteen years and spent fifteen years with Tomlin so he knows what the hell he’s talking about.
Ben said that Tomlin makes a lot of the decisions when building the roster. He’s the chief architect building the roster, hiring his coordinators and coaches.
I get so tired of hearing these TV analysts always saying Tomlin does a great job with the roster they give him, That's bullshit! They is Tomlin.

I thought that was the case for a while. Perhaps he is letting Omar and crew do their job now.

Combinations sometimes work right?
You take a young Dan Rooney, Chas Noll, Bill Nunn. Great combination.
Dan Rooney, Kevin Colbert, William Cowher, excellent combination.
Art Rooney II, Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin, average combination.
Art Rooney II, Omar Kahn, Mike Tomlin, ?????

You are right.
Who cares what those analysts say?
They are not Steeler fans.
They want us to lose.

As much as I avoid math on this site, here it is.

Also with the almighty powerful decision making Coach Tomlin……… why can’t we get more players that fit the system>>???

I cannot imagine a 18 year coach that does not have final say on football operations. Why he was successful when he was young. He didn't.
Boom, shalackalacka, boom! What happened on his steadfast opinion on Pickett? Not such a great QB anymore?

I don't know: the one thing Pgh does NOT enforce is making people accountable for decisions. You just don't know who is making what decisions.

Hard to find prospects with such superlative talent that they can overcome the hurdles of stupidity that the Mike Tomlin offensive and defensive schemes are.

Everybody is waiting for a coach of some kind to be fired. Coach Tomlin himself said there needed to be change…….

“NEWS FLASH”

Nothing is going to change and all jobs are secure.

TJ has shown openly he is disgusted. He and other players body language show they know what’s holding this team and their careers back.

Nothing is going to change, except maybe putting TJ on the opposite side, two plays a game. No creativeness anywhere to be found on either side of the ball. Play conservative and not to lose, allow your bend but don’t break defense step in and take control of the game for the win.

Happy groundhog’s day my brother

This has been a lotta mornings waking up to the same day.

That TJ pulled the veil back a little and admitted what his assignment was so as to not look foolish and let the blame go where it should is very telling. Trust me TJ, we all realize you didn’t just suddenly forget how to play football.

Team leaders like TJ are soon to be lost by the mediocre moron. I could see a full locker implosion next year.

Next year I’m truly starting to believe their will be breakthrough from the 9-8 or 10-7 groundhog’s day norm

This could become full on dumpster fire 6-11 or 7-10 season quite easily…then we’ll see where Art’s priorities actually lay. Does he care 1 oz about making the team better?

I’m actually almost in favor of a solid 5-12 just to force changes that have been necessary for a long time.

I’d take a 5-12 on the chin just to never hear the asinine “never a losing season” Bs ever again

I would gladly take a 5-12 season if it meant real change, but would it? Art would slink by with it saying "Fraudlin is still great, only 1 losing season in19."

Exactly we will have to endure the "well we can fire him just because he had a losing season" schtick.

Tomlin has most of the say since about 2011 or 2012, the minute LeBeau's defense started to not look like a LeBeau defense, and not just stats wise, but scheme and personnel, that's when Mediocre Mike started calling the shots.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Omar and crew have had most of the say when drafting the past two drafts and not Tomlin. The team mostly drafted for need at positions where they could still draft top talent and not second and third tier guys because the first tier guys had all been selected. My guess is Tomlin was told he could be in the room, but had to take a seat so the big boys could run the draft. The last two drafts under Kahn have been two of the best overall draft classes for the team in some time. I think it's more than a coincidence.

Seems for every criticism of Tomlin, there pops up a glaring contradiction.
Whether it's inferior players he's given or if he's the one making the choices, then couldn't we conclude that he must be doing one hell of a coaching job? He's able to produce winning seasons with a bunch of subpar players.
Imagine what he could do with Cowhers players!

Tomlin has a huge ego he doesn’t want anybody on the staff that might get more accolades than him! He’s horrible he’s ruined the Steelers! The eagles are now Pennsylvania’s team very sad what art Rooney and Mike Tomlin have done to the Steelers. And every year they wait to fix this it will take even more years to do so. Remember this started when Ben was here.

Here are two stories regarding who is responsible for the draft that are quite different.

The first is from back 2013 in which Tomlin takes full responsibility for the draft.
https://www.espn.com/blog/pittsburgh-steelers/post/_/id/2271/tomlin-claims-responsibility-for-drafts

This is more recent.
Kevin Colbert says that it’s a combined decision placing grades on each player.
“It’s a Pittsburgh Steelers decision” he stated.

The rules state do not post links from other sites when the info is available on SN.
Well this info isn’t available here.

Oh well. Looks like yinz is gonna have to Google “Tomlin on draft day decision makers”

Rooney pays attention to how many prime time games he gets. When networks have little interest in putting steelers on prime time maybe Rooney will make a real change.

I give a lot of credit to Weidl
The man who sets the board

He has emphasized trench play in the past and that was an area long neglected in the Tombert and the weapons mask the need for big uglies theory
