I believe it was the right call in the end, but it was pretty cheesy. TB throws the ball into field goal range with time on the clock and goes to spike it. Lewis runs onto the field to Challenge and disrupts the spike because TB has too many players on the field on the play that got them into field goal range. He throws a challenge flag (last year that would have been a flag). The review they review the play that never would have been reviewed if not for essentially an illegal act in my eyes. They detect the 12 th man and TBay gets pushed out of field goal range. Like I said it was kinda the right call in that there were 12 men, but it seemed like a manipulation of the system.

I cant blame lewis, i'd have done the same.

Why even have limits on replay rules... what he did should have been a 15 yard personal foul-delay of game penalty... they were not going to replay that play and he got them to do it by doing something against the rules... they will go to the playoffs due to that one play... mark it down.

Genious, could you see Tomlin doing something like that? Fluck, Lewis might just as well got his team into the playoffs, with that play. Tomlin, would be standing on the side lines, thinking he got hosed or something. Regardless of correct call, Lewis showed emotion / knowledge / enthusiasm / coaching ability, beyond the play.

Due to that ONE play?? Really?

The bucs were in chipshot range so it gave them one win that they should have lost... so yeah... Im saying they will get in by one game that they won because of that one play... Glad I spelled it out for you?

Actually, the Bengals will go to the playoffs in great part due to beating the Steelers twice in the last four games...mark it down.

How is it controversial if the Bucs had 12 men on the field

Not exactly sure of the rule in that situation, the suggestion is that Lewis was given special privileges and that the play was not reviewable.

OOOoopppppppppsssssss my BAD. Our coach did go out on the field, nearly got the tackle and nearly cost us a draft pick. Now I remeber

What I dont understand is, how can a penalty be called because of a challenge? Can you challenge a penalty or non-penalty? If so then every coach will challenge any big gain or td because there is holding on every play.

It was (or maybe still is?) a 15 yard personal foul to throw the flag under 2 minutes when review power is taken from the couches and placed in the Refs. If a questionable situation arises, the review box has to buzz down to the field to trigger a review. A couch is NOT allowed to throw a flag for review under 2 minutes. A couple of times years ago, coaches threw a flag on a play that was going to be reviewed ANYWAY (fumble/turnover/touchdown) and were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct or something.

I didn't see this play, but it sounded to me like it was under 2 minutes to go and it wasn't going to be reviewed, so Lewis essentially ran onto the field and did the equivalence of kicking the football off the field.

should not have been reviewed, despite Lewis being correct, as it was not a scoring play.

It was inside two minutes, all plays inside two minutes are treated as scoring plays and can be reviewed for any reason. However, Lewis running onto the field IS a penalty, should have at least been offsetting penalties replay the down.

while that is correct, that play was not about to be reviewed. only after Lewis did what he did was it being considered.

The NFL came out today and said that they were going to call for the replay either way... sure they were. Sadly, The CFL with all of their multiple guys in motion running towards the line of scrimmage is closer to real football now. I saw 5 minutes of their championship game and saw someone actually hit someone hard from the blindside on a crackback and there was not a flag or anyone whining for a flag... I severely dislike what Goodell has done to the NFL.

dude launched the punter like a weapon into the punters team mate. It was great.

Tampa was less than two seconds from snapping that ball. No way they were stopping the play. It would have been over. God they lie.

LOL... yes... I would love to see that in an NFL game without the player having to jump up and look for the flag that he knows is coming...

In the end, the Bucs Kicked our ***** as I remember it. If not they came pretty close. I can't even remember who beat us and who just "almost beat us" anymore.
