So, Boz‘s hit wasn’t considered a fine worthy. Yet they‘ve been fining DeLamb almost $50 grand for uniform infractions 4 weeks in a row. They still haven’t decided what to do with Rodgers or GB on its situation, and there is now some movement from a couple of members in Congress to have the WFT email debacle further looked into as Kronke’s move to LA, may have violated the city of St.Louis negotiation with the league having the Rams stay.

The violation could jeopardize the NFL Anti-Trust exemption status. It’s funny, that Kronke’s move was embolden because of the huge gain in revenue from skybox/club PSL expansions with the big new stadium in LA that benefits the league. Guess who pitched to the owners to the move with Kronke? Jerry Jones. Guess who also owns the company that handles exclusivity with stadium PSL management? Yep, Jerry Jones…..with a $50 million windfall. Somehow I think Goodell will see more sharks in the water, if Gruden doesn’t agree with a settlement to his lawsuit.

Ike, let the NFL fry in hell. They deserve everything they get and then some. People gamble with hard earned money and its a manipulated game.

That Anti-trust should have been lost awhile ago. Pennsylvania senater (speckter ?) was onto something big but his health failed and no one picked it up and persued.

The WFT investigation has been stallwart and if it was a non-football investigation, criminals would be cuffed and jailed by now. The rog is skating on the edge and the mofia is his backing, so who knows how deep the "cheat" is.

The NFL is still bullshit. Last week vs the clowns proves nothing has changed.

It's their entertainment product. They shouldn't get any special privileges considering how much $$$ citizens have to put into those stadiums.

It's really bad. The whole treatment of the cheats and marcia has to be the camel that broke the back, but it's not. I hope it flails and stumbles big time. It might just bring the league back to it's roots.

A-N-D why is public money even used for the stadiums ???? I get ZERO public funding to build a place for me to work !!!

Crooks / theives / liars / etc.

We all got hooked in our younger days and I've weaned myself nearly off. If I was 8 years old again I'd rethink my NFL devotion but you can damn well bet I'd still be a PITTSBURGH STEELERS fan.!

The NFL has anti-trust? I thought only baseball truly had that. That's why since 1922 when baseball got anti trust protection there has not been another league to challenge them? The NFL has had a number of challenges over the years.

I probably don't really understand anti-trust, granted.

One issue I do have is with all of our problems, why the hell is Congress spending anytime on the NFL?

Or maybe the other way to look at it is they spend time on the NFL, maybe it will keep them from screwing other things up more.

I remember when they spent a bazillion dollars over a few years on that Bonds lied while under oath to congress. In the end Bonds paid a fine and did some community work. Tax payers money well spent. While now we have FBI agents giving info they know is fake to get warrants to spy on Americans. I see now a few people are getting indicted.....let's see how far up the ladder they actual go. I am not going to hold my breath though.

We want you around so don't hold that breath for long. NOTHING will happen and the height of the ladder depends on the career extention of the investigator.

With the NFL you just have to hope YOUR team has a better script than whoever they're playing. Unfortunately, because Ben took the hits regarding the Tahoe and Georgia allegations, he's not somebody the league is excited to give a "Bettis Farewell" to. Thems the sad, hard facts.

If you see a New England vs Tampa Super Bowl in the next two years then you know the league is scripted.

Drink, I know the NFL is a business. Making revenue from a supply/demand product is the backbone of our economy. Capitalism in its truest form. However, more and more I see the stance of the league is influenced by a select few owners and Goodell’s administration and it isn’t good. These few particular owners have much more influence to the commissioner than any other previous Commish. Kraft, Jones and Kronke have their noses so far up Goodell that revenue takes precedence over the league stability/integrity. It doesn’t help that De Smith is the worst players union chief in professional sports, and Goodell has hugely benefited from it. Gene Upshaw would have handed his head on every single player issue that’s occurred since he replaced Tags. Tagliabue continued Pete Rozzelle‘s use of the old guard owners to help keep the league grounded as a business model of integrity. That’s all waved bye bye under Goodell’s watch.

NFL has had Anti-Trust exemption since the 60’s. Part of Pete Rozzelle’s brilliance in marketing the league in the early stages of network telecasts. The story goes that Rozzelle had a contact in the Senate Judiciary committee, who in turn introduced legislation that what later became the Sports Broadcasting Act. It allowed the league to negotiate its broadcasting rights as a collective (of all teams) so revenues could be shared equally. Once the AFL was absorbed the broadcasting revenue sky rocketed and continues to this day. MLB has had it’s antitrust exemption since 1920s, but how they operate has changed as owners traditionally only looked out for their teams outside of national broadcasting rights.

EXCELLENT POST Ike, thank you

Integrity is something not very often associated with the NFL unless in a negative light. Detroying the "Tapes" was just the near start of what was yet to come. ASSwisery / deciet / leing / he-said / targeted punishment / accepted cheating / game manipulation / and much more has become normal day to day operations with in the NFL. GREED over integrity that's called a business.

A-N-D Y-E-T

The Marketing department of the NFL has been able to spin it as A-ok and nothing here is wrong. Fanbase sheeple and gambling dependency is what fuels the continuation of the NFL as we see it.

It will never go back to the "REAL" game it was meant to be.

I feel often that I have lost a lot of my focus. I was VERY seriously invested in the nfl for about fourty years. Now, I only watch because it's probably Ben's last year, and my middle son is a die hard Steelers fan, so we chat during the games. It sucks.

Thanks Drink. There is only one thing I want to know and only one thing only about Goodell and Spygate. Everything else is secondary. Goodell was rather early in his term as Commish when Spygate occurred. Did he reach out to Tags for advice BEFORE deciding what he did? He had been groomed by Tags for several years to replace him. I am pretty damn sure Tags would have recommended him to think of the League first, Kraft, Belichick and records second. All this covert investigation crap was a ploy to protect his good bud Kraft and his franchise.

Ike, Totally agree on the protection of Kraft & Co.. If those tapes had gotten out and the truth of those taPES, the NFL would still be in gamblers court paying a HUGE class action suit to each person with gambling dept / loss / on anything NFL. The money GREED MACHINE would have slowed or near stopped.

I can't tell you if the rog talked to taggs or not (it makes sense that he did) but I gaurantee yaz he had word with several owners and the money future of the league.

Hell even I could figure out for the better of the money league,........... the gambling equality was altered by those tapes to be in favor of the cheaters over their respective opponents. Outcomes of major games was altered by unfair advantage.

This whole cheateriots thing is why I never give credit to anyone cheatriot playing in the "cheating" era. (ernie & soon billicheat to retire, brady took his wares elseware)

I'll go one deeper, Drink.

The league has a deeply vested interest in propping up the "legitimacy" of the cheats legacy. The quickest, easiest way to do that is ensure that Tommy TouchDown remains the "greatest evah".

It doesn't matter if the cheats have a couple mediocre or even **** seasons if Tommy is still un-*******-beatable. In fact, it's critical that the cheats fail WHILE Tommy does well. That legitimizes the accomplishments of the cheats as they had Jesus in cleats on their team.

I actually think the exact opposite would have happened. With the recognition and discipline in addition to the huge fallout from fans knowing the practice that franchise had done for several years, it would have put franchises and coaches on notice that no BS would be allowed without severe penalty. Hence, no Bounty Gate, no Inflate Gate, no Ray Rice waffling, Randy Gregory repeated shenanigans. The owner/franchise would need to do what was necessary IN HOUSE rather than have the league office involved. Even more, it would have probably allowed the NFL to open to lucrative legal gambling contract they now have maybe 5 years sooner.

I MOST certainly would have wanted your play-out to have been acheived, Real American Football would still be relevant even today. Imagin the opposite influence the NFL would have impacted verses what we get today.

Our current NFL would benefit greatly with a few changes of such.

1) structured disciplinary action.

2) Full time & graded disciplined officials with continual rotation of old & new

3) Fix manipulative ares of the game (trackers in football spotting / clear define of rule catch or no catch / things of this nature)

4) structured guaranteed contracts for all players

These may help the face of the league but greed and gambling drive owners & fans. Controversy is the best advertisement.

thanks for all you input Ike
