Seahawks for $7m 1-year deal. I don’t understand how the Steelers didn’t think this made sense given what we currently have at ILB…

Might have something to do with them picking up two ILbers in free agency John.

Just maybe

😁

In addition to what Slash said, Wagner has a strong affinity for Seattle, its the franchise he basically made his career with. I dont think its a stretch to assume he was willing to sign such a deal with ONLY the Seahawks, as opposed to every other team in the league

VERY good point Omar !!!

Like slash reminded us, we already made a FA splash. Now it's up to the draft

At 2.49 Drew Sanders (highly doubt we take an ILB but can hope)

Yes, People constantly forget that free agency is completely dependent on the player wanting to sign… in some cases, teams have offered more money and lost out on guys because they we’re looking to play in a particular situation or area… maybe a team gives them a better shot to start or they have family or friends in the area… hell maybe the sushi is just better there. (old school Seattle/Pittsburgh free agency reference for the young guys on here 😂)

You simply can’t say that a team should have signed player x for $y amount because for all we know they called and the player said not interested…

When I throw out numbers (contract etc….). I’m only throwing out what I’d like to see or think they may offer. It definitely isn’t based on some insider information.

I think most here know we are all just guessing but I also think your point does apply to some, at times.

I always get a kick out of the term “Hometown Discount” . In todays NFL there is NO such thing. I don’t blame the players one bit. Their earning power & employment time is very limited so I say get as much as you can. Their contracts are so high due to the NFL GREED Machine racking in mountains of money.

YOU absolutely cannot compare their $$$coin$$$ to any of us fan’s coin. Expecting any player to play for less is a fallacy.

Salute the nation

I don't understand why your entire post is italicized.

We lost 3 ILBs in FA

1. Bush
2. Spillane
3. Allen

We added 2, so we still have room for 1, and Wagner could have filled that role. I'm expecting us to target one in the draft in their first 3 picks.

For 9.5M a season we have two starting ILB for the next two years.

Yeah. I hope the signings make it where we don't have to draft one with any draft pick unless the value is there. I think we either get an every down ILB like Campbell, Simpson, Sanders early or we can get a package guy later. I think Robinson can be a package guy for run defense so maybe Owen Pappoe or SirVocea Dennis later on to be more of your coverage LB.

Bush and Spillane pretty much rotated. When they brought in two starters it singled that they weren't going to bring in Wagner who would have desired to start.

Sure they might draft a ILBer, but they have many needs. The main three is CB,SS, and slot WR. They have also have shown a desire to improve the trenches.

So I think they will be debating between DE/NT/T, and C. Doesn't seem to be much room for a ILBer unless they are enamored with a coverage capable one.
