I don’t believe that we need to recap what happened last Sunday at Heinz Field. Soon that day will likely be blocked out of everyone’s mind like other playoff disasters. But the Post Gazette’s Ed Bouchette came out this morning with an eye opening report about Le’Veon Bell. Bouchette reported that Bell didn’t show up […]

This doesn't surprise me at all. The article says some players/coaches ignore Tomlin's request for them to show up at least 2 hours before the game.
Something has to change, there is no accountability on this team for anything.

It comes down to discipline, pretty simple. Not just the fact that Bell was late but what about some of the coaches being late????
I wish I knew what the Coach's response was to this BS type stuff??? Obviously if it keeps happening then there wasn't much for
accountability.

Salute the nation

The most disappointing portion of that article is :

Tomlin’s reaction to Mitchell supposedly yelling at the Jaguars outside their locker room before the playoff game?

“That’s part of what I was talking about in today’s climate,” he replied. “That’s really kind of irrelevant to me.”

Yoda, pointing his cane at you Tomlin, saying, "THAT is why you fail!"
No discipline. Not accountability. Letting the inmates run the asylum.

How anyone can continually hear the stories coming out from that team and think that the biggest issue with the team is not leadership from the top just blows my mind. How Ed can even write "Tomlin never lost the locker room, he had it under control and his players respect him" and then say "As another example, Tomlin wants players and coaches to report to the locker room two hours before kickoff for games. That was continually ignored by both players and a coach or two" with a straight face just blows my mind. If you as a player respect your HC, you show up on time. The level of dysfunction on this team is unreal and that is what is holding this team back.

Trade him to Cleveland and save a ton of $$$ and use the draft pick to obtain Barkley. IMO Bell is good, but not worth 17 million a year. Use the cap savings to re-build the defense.

Geez! A team with all this talent and absolutely no accountability for the HC and it appears some of the players.

When some of the players and coaches act in this manner it speaks volumes about the lack of respect and accountability of this football team.
This team either needs a HC change or he has to be in a serious sit down with Art on how to conduct business. Otherwise the same **** happens next year.
As for LevBell! It seems more and more he doesn’t want to be here. I’m almost to the point of wanting his *** gone.

If Tomlin continues to allow players to ignore his authority, then Art II needs to set him straight.

Wonder if that's why we went empty on the first drive of the game. No carries for Bell

I would say "un ******* believable" but sadly this is very believable

If these issues aren't fixed by the end of next season, he's got to go

should have been opposite, IMO. ran his wheels off the first couple possessions.

Back in the day, Noll used to fine players for various actions like this and others. Does the CBA not allow that these days? If it does, a $50,000 or $100,000 fine for something like that for your first offense might get someones attention, especially if they are repeat offenders. Start at $50,000 for the first time being late and double it each time after that.

Im not a Tomlin hater, but this makes him look pretty bad, your players and coaches don't respect your rules?

NO TEAM wins a championship when the quote unquote " inmates run the asylum. " Where is Mike Tomlin?

I told some of you Bell had questionable character sometime ago. If your heart is not here for a playoff game, trade him.

Bleacher Report: Bell missed most of walk thru before Jags game

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...most-of-final-walkthrough-before-jaguars-game

Fallout from the Pittsburgh Steelers' 45-42 playoff loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday continues, as running back Le'Veon Bell reportedly missed the team's final walkthrough before the game.

Per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bell arrived at Pittsburgh's Saturday practice about five minutes before it ended.

Bouchette also noted Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin wants players and coaches to report into the locker room no later than two hours before kickoff for games, but Bell showed up "arrive much later than that" for the Jaguars game.

Problems behind the scenes were an issue for the Steelers last season.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported in December that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wanted a buffer between himself and offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

The Steelers announced on Wednesday that Haley's contract would not be renewed for the 2018 season.

Bell is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason after playing last season under the franchise tag for $12.1 million. The two-time All-Pro told ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler he would consider retiring or sitting out next season if he receives the franchise tag again.

In 15 games last season, Bell ran for 1,291 yards, had 655 receiving yards and tallied 11 total touchdowns.

IF this is true, I've seen about enough from Bell, might be time to cut the cord despite his talent. Wonder if the Browns would want to rebuild around Bell and Tomlin for some picks...probably wishful thinking

I think at this point we tag him and “negotiate”. Once it’s clear we can’t fit his demands under our cap allow him and his agent to find a team who’d be interested in trading for him and have them workout a deal. Make it abundantly clear the trade for him will include a minimum of 1 first round pick and depending on the where the team he’s working with maybe several more high picks. The teams with the cap space and ammo to get Bell are short. And if they don’t give him what he wants maybe he comes back to our negotiation table more humble.

I can't get over this if it's true....how can Art Rooney II let this team collapse into this?

I for one fell in love with the Steelers in the Cowher years for their: physical toughness, character, discipline, intensity, and connection to the city and its fan base. Were they perfect? No. Was Cowher stubborn and guilty of turtling? Yes. But at least they were likable and admirable.

This team with its tweeting, sloppiness, selfishness, trash talking, failure to show up against inferior teams, and arrogance is getting harder and harder too cheer for. It used to be other fan bases hated the Steelers out of jealousy, but this year I can really understand why the Steelers are despised much like the Cowboys and Bengals are-soft selfish players acting out.

Tomlin has to go and maybe Art II needs to sell if this is what they are going to do with this team

nope he will return

but if in any scenario I would expect a Ricky Williams type return for the best all purpose back in the NFL.

BTW, anyone need proof that we looked past the Jaguars...this is pretty dam compelling and damning.

He's also threatening to sit out, or retire next season, if franchised again. The gall! I don't want this cancer on my team.

11 TDs?

Hell, Fournette had 5 TDs in two games.

Bell isn't worth what his ego wants. He's good, but he's not worth it. Keep,in mind he's one mistake away from being suspended again.

He was too busy texting about unleashing hell on Jacksonville. This is really a clown *** team. They make the Steeler colors look soooo bitchafied...I would take the zone Steeler defenses of Dick Lebeau's era that could not stop elite QBs, but were tough and could stop the run over these soft *** mfers.

I've been a steadfast Tomlin supporter for years now, through good times and bad. I have to admit the optics on this really stinks. He may have survived the hangman after this playoff debacle, but he's gotta take a long, hard look in the mirror and understand he himself needs to make significant changes in how he runs this team. If he wants to stick around and win playoff games. Reading this article made me as disappointed as I've been in Tomlin during his tenure, the notion players and coaches simply ignore his rules.
