Brad Wing on practice squad - again

Wing is far and away the better punter while with the Steelers, than the Shankapotomus has been.

Anything else I can help the front office with, give me a call.

All I can think is that Shades is thinking outside the box and getting serious about not losing another first round playoff.
Lookit….
Lets his hand-picked OC get fired in mid-season.
Starts his third-string QB over his first-round draft pick.
Signs the old practice squad punter.
New sheriff in town.

I'll take a guy who can consistently average 45 yards/punt over a guy who may boot it over 60 yards but more often than not shanks it.
Harvin is the best punter in the league 70% of the time and the worst punter in the league 30% of the time.

assuming that Matt Araiza couldnt get PTO from UPS?

Would have been my first call as soon as he was available, UPS wouldn't have had a chance.

We have had multiple replacement punters, including Wing, who have been better than Harvin. The Harvin situation just makes no sense.

Note - I was critical of why we picked up Wing vs other options but even he looked better than Harvin. When he was off the street and out of the NFL. Yikes.

Looks like the Puntopotamus has officially been added to the endangered species registry, with extinction projected no later than August 2024.

Fourth-worst

He is currently the fourth-worst punter in the NFL with a 39.2-yard net punting average.

The Steelers Need Better Punting, But Pressley Harvin III Still Amon…

Copy and paste , but you can see enough to know how bad he is.

In fairness, there is no easy way to measure a punters effectiveness using stats. If he punts from the 40 and angles it out of bounds at the 2, it hurts his gross and net but its an excellent punt.

How many times have you seen him angle it out of bounds on the two…………………

I hear what you are saying, but he is the fourth worst in the NFL for a reason.

It’s the angling / shanking it out of bounds at the 47 when punting from our 20, that’s the problem

He isn't ****** all the time but I could seriously live with that ratio. He had a couple really good games early but had been average or ****** since.

Trust me, I wouldn’t care if he had the 4th best net in the league, give me a punter who has two 45 yard punts over one that has a 70 yarder followed up by a 20 yarder any day.

Practice Squad Punter?? Wing started for 3 years and we traded him to the Giants for a draft pick. Great Auzzie roll punter. Loved the guy.

But seriously, Harven only punts well when there is another punter on the roster. Nice head games Tomlin! :P
