'Calexit' group opens Russian embassy

California gained an embassy in Russia last weekend, at least in the eyes of those who have promised to seek a statewide vote on secession, nicknamed "Calexit," in 2018.

Louis Marinelli, a San Diego resident who is the leader of the group promoting an effort to turn the state into an independent country , organized the Moscow event that was publicized on social media.

"We want to start laying the groundwork for a dialogue about an independent California joining the United Nations now"

I guess the old saying of birds of a feather flock together is true when it comes to commies as well. California secession would be great except we would need to maintain possession of all military facilities. Then they can show the rest of the world what its like to be a pure socialist/communist nation. All the kids and people who feel like they have been dealt a bad hand in life can go live there. Free healtcare, free college, free everything. Its a beautiful thing. Then when it collapses under its own weight and goes up in flames it can serve as a case study into how communism is not all that great..

California schools chief wants districts to ignore immigration status as ‘safe havens’

State education chief Tom Torlakson on Wednesday urged school districts to declare themselves “safe havens” that avoid seeking the immigration status of students and suggested that they follow the lead of the Sacramento City Unified School District.

The state superintendent of public instruction issued a letter late Wednesday asking districts not to rely on “documents related to immigration status” when enrolling students.

“Our schools are not and will not become an arm of the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE),” Torlakson said in his letter. “Instead, they will remain safe places for learning and teaching for all students, regardless of immigration status.”
