With the increase to $301m, before any trades, releases, restructures, etc...we are now sitting at $42.5m in space. Putting us 8th most in the league. Even with Watts contract, we're in a pretty good spot for the first time in YEARS. We only have a little over $7m in dead cap right now, most of that from Minkah.

They should maneuver and clear about 100 mil in space.

Then bring in a CB,G, 2 WRs, and a FS. Oh and whatever QB.

Malic. Willis at about 26mil for 2 years, 3rd year option.

I don’t think you can get him under 20 mil.

No Aaaa-Ron.

At least we would be trying to move forward instead of just stalling out.

TY. and this before any restructures. Much better place than normal.

The difference of paying a franchise QB?

I like Ramsey but his cap hit for '26 is 19M, '27 it is 21M and for '28 its 24M. I don't think they'd cut him with 3 years left and don't know how they re-structure to get the cap hit down without adding years. That's according to Over the Cap but Spotrac seems to have different numbers. OTC says he can be cut before June 1 with all that $$ saved, does anyone know this for certain?

Most reports have Patrick Queen as a pre-June cut for a savings of 13M. I'm on board with that. Dead last in missed tackles last year if I'm not mistaken.

If both are kept, I have more faith in Ramsey returning to something beneficial than Queen. A new scheme doesn't fix missed tackles esp when they kept McCurley on as coach.

I dunno I see Ramsey as an overpriced inside corner. Something has to give.

I'll say this, the price tag is very high for what he brings. I love his physicality and passion. Patrick Graham does like to use a S/LB hybrid (Kyle Louis in draft?) so I think Ramsey could fit that part well. I'd rather not see him at FS. If his contract was half the price, I'd definitely be OK with him here but for maybe only 1-2 years, not 3.

Agree, but Ramsey needs to play 1 position and not several as the previous coaching had him doing. He can be good, but should be designated to one position.

Don't need Ramsey and his big cap hit, or Queen and either Watt or Highsmith, preferably Watt and his ridiculous contract.
Just getting rid of Ramsey, Queen, and Watt would open up what, another 50 million in cap space?
Move on from these guys whom they haven’t won anything with and sign your own younger guys like Nicky Herbig, Keanu Benton, Joey Porter Jr., Asante Samual, Cal Austin, Denzel Washington.
And get rid of Jonnu Smith.
Draft a couple WRs, a guard, inside LBer, CB, Safety, middle round QB.
Do not bring back 42 year old Rodgers. There is very little value with him. Ask the other 31 teams who are not interested.
Use FA to add a WR, a guard, a DL.
As for QB do not get trapped by John Lynch trying to trade Mac Jones for some ridiculously high pick.
Not worth it!
Maybe you bring in Willis on two year deal and have him compete with Howard and Mason.
If it doesn’t work out, then get your QB next year.
Btw, these veterans with big contracts, try and trade for 2027 draft capital which you will need for a QB.
That’s my GM for a day take!

Ramsey can be cut with no hit. Miami ate all the guarantees. They can do a lot of things to change those numbers or could tear it up and redo it.

I am 100% against touching our depth at OLB and ILB. Scheme changes and playcalling should do wonders for PQ and PW. Draft a good mid round thumper and we will be good there. Most of what ailed PQ was missed assignments on the DL and then he tried to do too much and was out of position. If he gets the line to properly fill their gap assignments and he doesn't try to free-lance he would be very good. I am hoping much of it was Teryl Austin issues. Wilson had the same issues. Missed tackles were more missed steps on reads then being forced to reach or lunge for players. Inside reads are hard enough but they are almost impossible when your lineman go the wrong way or don't fill the right gap.

It’s been reported OTC numbers are wrong for Ramsey and that he still has guaranteed $$ left on his contract. Sportrac is more accurate. Cap space is the least of our worries, it will increase approximately $16 mil with the release of Smith and Harrison. DK Sports Insider notes that besides Gainwell, Pierre and Herbig (players at the top of the extension list), Boz too will get a new contract as well.

PQ name was brought up by Omar during his presser, saying “we want him here and he likes being here”, so I don’t think he’s going anywhere. He may miss tackles, but what ILB doesn’t? PQ is a baller though. Privately, it was noted he was banged up but played in a bunch of games this year. He also was sick as a dog in another, puking his guts out and getting an IV at halftime, all the while leading the team in tackles.

Overthecap is correct. When a player is traded Spotrac doesn't adjust for the fact that signing and other bonuses amortised over the life of the contract hit the original team's cap at time of trading, and don't continue with the new team. Spotrac is still showing amounts from Ramsey's original Miami contract as prorated option bonus under the Steelers for 2026 to 2028. Those amounts were actually converted to base salary in 2025 and were on the Steelers cap in 2025.

DK Sports beat writer Chris Halicke informed that he was told this past week by the Steelers (Omar and his team) that OTC figures are wrong. He was advised Ramsey still had guaranteed money coming on his contract. Meaning, MIA did not absorb all of it on the trade and Sportrac’s numbers were more accurate. Halicke never mentioned how much guaranteed $ was assigned to PIT, but it’s probably a portion of the guaranteed money from roster bonuses that go in effect each League year.
