Any Chess players or followers here? Back in the day I had Elo rating in the high 1500's but it was nothing more for me than a hobby I played on the web.

There is an epic match going on right now between Carlsen vs. Caruana. Carlsen is the world champion, Caruana could be the first American world champion since Bobby Fischer in 1972

How close is it? The first 12 games were all draws! This has not happened over 100 years. That's how evenly matched they are.

Now they go into a speed round to determine the winner.

So Carlen won. It came down to speed chess. When asked who their favorite players were, Capuana said Bobby Fischer. Carlsen? That would be me 3 years ago. Awesome reply.

While super computers have passed humans, something interesting is going on. These super AI computers have taught us how to play the game. Now people use their defenses. Interesting....

AI has some holes. It sucks at Stratego.

I went to UMBC and we have one of the top chess program in the nation.

Back when I was attending, they were the first school in the nation to offer chess scholarships. We got good quick and had some international players (Russians) that killed at chess.

I used to play many years ago. It's a fun game and aggravating at the same time.
