Ok, I'm not one to follow other teams internal drama most times, but I just think this is beyond ******* stupid already. He's your ******* first round pick, do you REALLY want to **** in his face this much right out of the gate? Cleveland, I know this whole "Franchise Quarterback" idea is new to you, but given that the guy is ALREADY playing on your shitball of a ******* team, in your shithole of a ******* town, and wearing shitstained uniforms, is it really the best idea to publicly himiliate him again and again before he's even taken a snap in a pre-season game?

Hey, by all means, break the guys spirit, make him a ******* headcase, it's better for us, and the AFC North. Just seems you might want to be a little more even handed with your brand new toy.

Clevelan, where nothing makes sense & rivers, go to burn!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Hasnt it basically been confirmed that the Browns GM/Coaching Staff wanted Bridgewater, but the owners wanted Johnny?

I see where they're trying to go with this, but it could really, really blow up in their faces. I can't think of a single NFL player in history who has succeeded even partially because their team publicly "humbles" him every chance they get before he even plays a down.

If it's true...Haslem is well on his way to becoming Jerrah II.

I wonder if he regrets sending that text?

Yeah, I mean to me it just seems ******* stupid. You want your qb to become a leader and you want your team to have confidence in him, publicly stating he sucks worse than the scrub you have already really inspires confidence in the pick, doesn't it? If I were Johnny, I'd be asking those ***** how the term "HOLDOUT" would look on the front page of the Cleveland papers, for the entire ************* season.......

Poor Johnny is going to be a free agent by the end of his 2nd year. It is called the Cleveland Curse and that **** is real.

Cleveland could finish 2nd in a one man race. Seriously how could you **** up a QB that hasn't even been signed yet?... well I guess the clowns figured out a way.

Not a big deal. The kid likely knows he is way behind the guys that have been on the team. The article also quotes the guy that was interviewed that he does not see the possibility of him moving up rapidly as out of the question. When the Steelers drafted Ben he was behind an insurance salesman wasn't he? Bringing the kid along slowly is a good thing. This might be one of the few things they have done intelligently since the last team known as the Browns left to make way for the mistake by the lake.

You make a good point sir. Many of us forget that the steelers had Ben on the bench in his rookie year behind tommy "picksix" Maddox. It was an injury that got Ben on the field in week 2 against Baltimore and he then never left.
Consider this, with that defense, if Maddox isn't hurt in week 2, there is still a good chance that Maddox leads the team to a record of 12-4 or so and a first round bye... When do you think Ben gets handed the starting job?

I guess what I am saying is the steelers were fortunate those decisions were made for them and ended up looking like geniuses.

They did, but the coaches weren't going out of their way to let him know how much he sucked. They didn't make him 3rd string to "teach him where he belonged". Lucky for them too, since they needed him pretty damn early and it was put up or shut up time.

I'm not sure many Steelers fans forgot that Ben was behind Maddox. I'd be shocked if anyone forgot that. But that isn't the issue. The Steelers didn't come out publically and mock him to put him in his place. I don't remember a team ever coming out and saying the **** the clowns are talking about with him. Just STFU and see what the kid can do. He's your guy now.

It does not seem that far off from what really happened with Ben. My take on the article was it was not mocking the kid but stating he is on the bottom of the depth chart and he is way behind the other guys. It also says that he could close the gap and compete as well. I am just not reading as much into the present position as you are. The key to this is the media tossed this question out so they could get mileage out of it. One you might not remember was a similar question was asked of Faneca regarding Ben, his response was something to the effect of "he's just a kid". The kid did do rather well, but he had a decent line that year and some coaches that maximized his potential and did not over load him, he also had a pretty damn good running back in the Bus.

What exactly did the Steelers say about Ben? I don't remember them saying "Maddox is better than Ben by a substantial margin" and that the gap between them "Isn't even close". I also don't remember the Steelers reminding Ben "This isn't Hollywood". Show me the Steelers telling Ben publically that "You are the backup". But if you can show me that I'll agree.

Again this was the clowns organization not a player like Faneca. I think it is stupid to talk about one of your 1st round picks like this.

It's like the coaches and GM are doing the Hazing. That's what the players are for now the poor kid gets it from both of them. What happens when the first string can't go because of surgery and the second string sucks it up. Now they would have to do a total 180. What a way to build confidence in your first round QB.
