Colbert on potential Brown trade: “By no means will we make a trade that’s not beneficial to the organization. We’re not going to give a discount on the trade market, and we’re not going to release him. “

Sounds to me like we have been getting late round offers for Brown. At this point, take whatever you can get and ship the cancer off to someone else. Value is in the eye of the beholder, and if nobody thinks the headcase is worth more than a second or third round pick, it doesn't matter what the Steelers think his value should be.

Have they even checked on his value yet? I was thinking they were waiting for the combine to feel out the situation....

Glad to hear this. I hope they do stick to their guns. It is also posturing for the other teams when they do start to bring offers in a couple weeks. They said no negotiations for AB have taken place yet and they won't until probably the combine.

To trade him right now, today doesn't male any sense in that his value will be going up as the trade is offered on the table. Mingle at the combine, get a feel (for his value), start to work it up to a crest on MARCH 13th. I bet he nets a 1st and pending on order possibly a 3rd.

I see a 1 at worst a 2 or they keep him.

I hold onto him unless I get what I want. If he doesn't get traded I just let him know fines and suspensions are an option we will be using this season on him. And no more special treatment.

More likely he's responding to the propaganda being spread around by some sports journalists likely on behalf of Steelers opponents, that Brown will be given away for nothing.

Seems we took nothing for bell.

We TRIED to give him a **** load of money, and he spit in our face and walked out on our team. HE QUIT on our team more so than AB. He jeopardized our chance (and HIS chance) at a Super Bowl because he refused to play for $14.5 Million. He got a very lucrative offer, and turned it down.

It's not like we did not try. He was just unreasonable. What else should we have done? There is NO WAY we could have traded him. He would have **** on any deal we had made. As much as I want AB gone at this point, I'm far happier that this dumbass is leaving.

I see a one and more clearly if it's a lower 1, then you add their 3rd. Pending on order

I have a feeling that whatever deal they make, will involve a pretty good player in return. maybe an ILB or CB that is in the final year of there deal. and then the Steelers give him a new long term contract.

Dude,. I know, put the gun away. Just reflecting what was said today by Colbert about not tagging bell. He will be a ufa, and we will get some b.s late round comp pick.

ok all you contact experts ... what if scenario ...

If he is a restricted free agent we can will get a min of a 3rd round compensatory pick am I correct ?

What if the FO says the following :

we will renegotiate you contact to give you restricted free agent which will let you explore new contracts on your own. BUT in return we want the follow :

1. Repay us the cap hit we will be taking for your Bonus ( 21 Mill I think)
2, you cannot entertain contacts from a list of 4 teams ( *pats, ravens, browns, bengals)

You know that is not gong to fly because he is not going to give back money === but I was just thinking about it .. It may not be worth it but just a thought .

and it is a pipe dream to get a 1 or 2 round player -- especially with his antics and wanting GUARANTEED money .... Doubt if Bell is going to get what he wants either

My bad. Did not mean for that to come off like that. I'm hoping that Bell has to settle. Man I hope he doesn't cash in. He ****** us bad and I hope he ****** himself.

**** that! Take a big cap hit for a late round pick that likely won’t even make the team? Why? Prevent further distraction? The distraction is old and will be considerable less five months from now if Brown no shows for camp and the Steelers will start saving money.

What’s the worst thing that can happen if the Steelers don’t trade Brown? What can happen that hasn’t already happened?

That 14.5 might look pretty good when no one offers up WR money for him.

They'd basically be conceding the 2019 season to a circus of drama and distraction. What good would come from repeating the **** we saw in 2018?

There's no way the Steelers can maintain the focus needed if Brown is still on the team this summer, especially with Tomlin's questionable leadership. If talking directly to Rooney did not improve things between Brown and the Steelers, nothing will.

Brown has to go, even if it means settling for less than fair value. I do not think it will come to that, as there will be enough interest from contending teams in need of a WR the caliber of Brown, but Brown being a Steeler next season is simply not an option.

Colbert is also dumb enough to pay our awful OLB Dupree over 9 million this year, what a clusterfuck.

Our backup is a UFA, more of a they are already down at depth at the position. Don't throw fuel on the fire.
