Unbelievable but college football actually starts this weekend with a limited slate. Not a great lineup but after watching preseason football, it's great to watch some games that count.

Austin Peay at Western Kentucky 12:00 CBSSN
for those who want to tune in for the first game of the year

Game of the Week
Nebraska vs Northwestern from Dublin Ireland 12:30 FOX Neb -13.5
it's a big spread so it may not be close but it's still the only conference matchup of the week. This could be the last chance for coach Scott Frost at Nebraska. Nebraska will be staring Texas transfer Casey Thompson at QB. Neb has new OC Mark Whipple who was Kenny Pickett's QB coach last year at Pitt and also previously coached for the Steelers. Thompson has talent and actually led the Big 12 in TD passes last year.

Wyoming at Illinois 4:00 BTN Illinois -10.5
Brett Bielema, a convicted felon in the offseason, has been slowly building up Illinois after the horrible job that Lovie Smith did. Naturally Smith was rewarded with the head gig with the Houston Texans.

Duquesne at Florida State 5:00 ACCN
pretty strange matchup. Wonder if FSU had a replace a team on their schedule and found Duquesne.

Vanderbilt at Hawaii 10:30 CBSSN Vandy -8.5
vandy favored but that's a long road trip. They better not get distracted by the sights or it will be an even longer flight home.

A loss to Hawaii would ruin Vanderbilt’s National Championship hopes.

Tape, I love reading these and thanks for putting them out.

Nebraska sure has dwindled since the Osburn days.

I have this good friend, has a pair of GREAT-est season tickets she inherited from her parents when they past away. I'm sure the parents had them 50 years or so and she has had the for about 10-15. She only goes to one game but she was raised near there and her best friend buys the season tickets from her with the exception of the 1-game pair. I'm going next year (couldn't make it this year).

Salute the nation

didn't take long for an upset with Northwestern winning as a double digit underdog. Scott Frost is in trouble. I was busy today, only half watching but it seemed the problem is the Nebraska defense. They just couldn't stop northwestern's run game. Nebraska used to send lots of defensive players to the NFL but they hardly send any these days.

Oh well. Only 4 more days to the real start of the college season, when Penn State plays Purdue on thursday.

Was a great kickoff for the first week of college football and any time Nebraska gets beat is a good day.
