I'm not so interested in the QB's coming out this year because we know this class doesn't have much. I'd be surprised if the Steelers selected a QB in this draft. If things are as bad as I expect them to be next year we may have some high picks coming soon.

I'm looking at QB's who are freshmen and sophomores. I have a couple freshmen I have been trying to follow pretty closely that I like.

Caleb Williams who replaced Rattler at Oklahoma has shown some skills. He's a bit small,(6'1" about 200) but is very mobile and shows good accuracy even on the move. I'll be interested in seeing him with a full season as the starter.

The other guy I really like is Tyler Van Dyke at Miami. 6'4" 225 with a strong accurate arm. Moves well in the pocket and can get a few yards on the ground, but he moves to buy time to throw. His footwork isn't the greatest, but as a freshmen that can be corrected. I was impressed with him this year, and I'm excited to see how he moves forward in his career.

Anyone have someone they are watching for the 2023/2024 draft?

It's too early for me to look at guys moving forward into next season. Guys move up and down the draft board. Rattler was suppose to be the No. 1 pick and now he needs to rebuild his resume while guys like Wilson and Pickett shot up draft boards.

Let's look at the guys this year.

Matt Corral
Should be the top QB taken this year. A little bit of a dual threat with a solid arm. He should be out of reach for the Steelers.

Kenny Pickett
May be the most pro-ready with the way he can read the field. Solid physical attributes and does a lot well, nothing spectacular. Can make all of the throws, but he feels like he'll max out as a Carr/Cousins type QB.

Sam Howell
Not a fan of him as a prospect. He's a good runner and while he has a good arm, is a so-so passer. Feels like a less talented version of Baker Mayfield.

Malik Willis
Maybe the best pure skills in the draft. Low level opposition makes me question how he'll adjust to the NFL. He had some issues when playing better teams. Purely a developmental prospect, may be worth a shot in the second round. Would need a strong QB coach/OC on staff.

Carson Strong
The least athletic of the top QBs in the draft, but maybe the best arm. A lack of mobility will hold him back and given at how much Tomlin has hinted that he wants a mobile QB, Strong may not even be on the radar. As far as arm strength, he probably has the best arm in the draft. Being spoiled by Ben for the past two decades, that's something I value.

Desmond Ridder
Intriguing prospect with athleticism and a good arm, his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. Developmental prospect who feels like a third rounder. Needs a Josh Allen type turnaround with his accuracy.

I have not seen Corral play, but I've seen the rest of them and I don't think any of them make it as a starter. Maybe a couple backups in that group.
