Well actually he has two but one is broken. Fitted for a cast. Will be watched to see if he can play. Bad year for Cortez.

Saturday practice

To bad for Cortez. He is a promising talent, once he gets to defending with in the rules. He just needs a little time to adjust his technique, to reflect with in the rules. I think that little perimeter is whats affecting his ability to cover, like we know he can. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise to allow him some time to adjust better.

How is Keenan Lewis doing this year? Did not notice his name being called much last night.

Keenan: 1 int, 0 forced fumbles in 10 games ( http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LewiKe96.htm )

Cortez: 2 int, 0 forced fumbles in 8 games ( http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleCo00.htm )

Not much difference. I have many Saints fans, and none of them are enamored with Keenan. Go figure.

I didn't watch much of last night's game, but he got screwed on a PI call which offset a Baltimore offensive penalty.

I think Cortez has a lot of talent and has shown some in the past. However, he hasn't played in the last two or three games and still leads the team in penalties. On the plus side for Cortez is that, while he has been flagged a lot, it appears as if each type of penalty occured no more than twice. 2 PI, 2 holding, 2 illegal contact, 2 illegal use of the hands and a face mask. Maybe he was trying each one of them out like test driving a car.

With the overall increase in defensive calls, you would expect Cortez' to go up too, but I believe he has exceeded expectations.

BTW, Troy is second in our penalty list and he has missed a couple of games, too.

because we know Lewis and Cortez faced the same type of talent? Pretty sure one faced teams second WR and was burnt repetitively.

While the other has stuck to his man and played solid.

But lets keep thinking those similar stats tell a similar story.......

In addition to steelers depot the injury discussion is also on steelers.com, for those of you that want you can hear MT talk about it as well.

LOL! That was great, but seriously he sucks.

the way Keanin plays the deep ball he never plays the WR only the ball with his back vs the WR and gets flagged to much that happened plenty here in 2012 and not much looks different looking at the rats game.

we were going to need cortez in the nickel to play press on jimmy but with him out likely ike's duty with a lb/s over the top eithier troy or shazier/timmons.
we can play Gay on Colsten and Mccain on Stills.

So did William Gay, some time has changed that as he is playing OK thus far, this year. I don't see Cortez being a shut down corner, but he can be a #2 or of value to a team. Agree, currently he needs improvement, as I stated. Can he improve? I say yes, but am willing to wait and see......................

For what it's worth, Lewis has been praised effusively by the analysts all year. He's only allowing 1.17 yards per snap in coverage, right around the same number as Patrick Peterson and Aqib Talib. And he was even better last season, when he was #10 among all CBs in passer rating against.

Some one-on-one matchups of his this year:

Dez Bryant - 3 rec, 44 yards
Jordy Nelson - 3 rec, 25 yards
Kelvin Benjamin - 2 rec, 18 yards
