Could we start a GoFundMe drive of Steeler fans to buy out Tomlin's contract ?

I've been a lifelong Steeler fan, watching Steeler games each week religiously. I've taken my kids to Steeler training camp each summer, and gone to a few games when the opportunity presented itself.

But after this season -- I've had it. I just can't do it anymore. I've gone through the 80's parade of poor QB's, but this is different. This is entirely on the coaching staff. There just isn't any accountability with this coaching staff.....NONE. And more frustrating, there doesn't seem to be any sense of accountability of the ownership demanding that this is addressed. It's just too frustrating to watch a team consistently be led by a group of coaches that CANNOT OUTCOACH ANY COACHING STAFF OF ANY PLAYOFF CALIBER TEAM each year. That's it...THAT'S the problem. And the ownership will NOT address it. I now honestly believe that it really doesn't matter what group of players are assembled, the coaching staff simply cannot put together a plan that will outperform the opponents coaching staff. No ability of making adjustments that outmaneuver an opponent. Our only prospect of winning a playoff game is if our players actually outperform an opponent by such a degree that it overwhelms both the opposing players and the opposing coaching.

We simply do NOT have a coaching staff that is capable of :
1. Developing talent
2. Putting together a coaching plan that outperforms that of a playoff caliber team
3. Making in game adjustments to account for an opponents' gameplan
4. Demanding a culture of commitment from every individual player on a consistent basis

Folks THAT is the reason we need a new coaching staff NOW. I'll even consider keeping Arthur Smith as OC possibly, but beyond that everyone needs to go.

I mention a GoFundMe drive not actually believing that the money would get raised, but the STORY of a GoFundMe drive to buy out the contract of your head coach may put enough pressure on the ownership to finally take action.

Opinions ?

All of Steeler Nation should go create accounts on Bears, Panthers, Jags, Jets... boards that maybe some of their management follow. Pretend to be fans begging to trade for Tomlin. If they see thousands of people begging to trade for Tomlin maybe they will. If the Brown's owner will take draft advice from a homeless guy, this might work. Maybe he Jets owner's teenage sons that help give their dad advice on running the team might be persuaded to talk Woody in to the trade and giving up a couple of high picks.

You could raise triple the buyout and it wouldn’t happen. Art2 is content. The Steeler way was born AND died with Dan.
Art II will be retiring from day to day control within the next couple years. Art 1 did at 74, Dan did at 72... Art II is about to be 73 and his son Dan III has been in training for several years now to take over... he started out playing football in college and has been working his way through every department of the team to learn day to day stuff.. he was a low level worker with the team, on the coaching staff , scouting staff, and now has a front office role... he is the guy who arranged the Ireland game coming up..

Unlike Art II, who is a lawyer, he is a football guy...

Self made family business’s almost always follow the same trajectory.

Generation 1 starts the business, and runs it their whole life. They are almost always learning as they go, but since it is their “baby”, they never give up.

Generation 2 grows up living in the rough years of the building of the business. Theya are always expected to learn all aspects of said business, as they will eventually be expected to take over. They get to be very good at what they do. Partly because they don’t have any other choice. This is where most businesses flourish, expand and success is seen.

Generation 3 grows up during the successful period of the business and get to enjoy all the luxuries afforded by the success. Generation 2 allows their children the option of doing what they want with their lives, as they harbor hidden resentment for not being allowed this choice themselves. Eventually they are asked to come back to run the business. Since they do not have the decades of experience, commitment and passion, the business flounders and loses marketshare and/or relevance. This is always the period in which the business declines or fails.

Generation 4 is given the chance to rebuild a failing business. Sometimes it works, but most often the damage is too great. If the business hasn’t failed outright, this is when the business is normally sold, for a fraction of the valuable years.

The history of the Steelers franchise follows this almost to a T. While things have not been exactly the same, the arc is the same.

Art 1 - the lovable owner who started the team, by winning at the track. He was in over his head for all the years he ran it.

Dan - the man that grew up on the inside, learned from all the experience of those around him, and went on to create the legacy that became the Steelers.

Art 2 - The son who was handed the reigns, without all the experience, commitment and passion.

Keep in mind that a no trade clause doesn't mean that he can't be traded, it means that he can't be traded without penalty. We don't know what that penalty is to see if it's worth trading Mike or not. Mike can also waive that NTC if a shiny new opportunity presents itself, Say...The New York Jets or Carolina Panthers. Tomlin could use New York to inflate his salary to 20 million a year and ask for a five-year deal to turn the team around. Carolina is close to Newport News and unlike the Jets, they have a good foundation of players to build on.

Food for thought

I think warriors already suggested this.

Third one is the charm

Wake me when Art and Mike are done destroying my former favorite team, they’re still second on my list under the Ga Bulldogs but they’re losing their grasp there too with these shenanigans

I’ll be over there Lion fanning for a minute or two while we wait for these idiots to retire/depart

Tepper bought a team to get away from Tomlin when his voice wasn’t heard as a minority owner

He wants no part of Mike

Maybe the Jets are dumb enough, their owner is absolute ***

I would not give one penny. The Steelers have become sickening. That is fine with me. I don't have to watch..

That go fund wouldn’t create negative attention and the money would just sit there in the process.

You have to embarrass them and let them know fans aren’t behind them.

You do that through billboards and advertising with planes over the stadium. That would get noticed.

Fire Tomlin and give us an X and O coach.

Short and sweet sayings that can get the message out. That is the only thing that has a chance of being effective. Even if it isn’t immediately effective it gives them something to weekly talk about.

If you guys ultimately get something rolling that is the target you could also afford. You aren’t buying out a contract and Scooby dum would have to agree on the buyout he wouldn’t.

When the offense is on the field the entire crowd should just stand up, turn around and face their backs towards the field…come to think of it they may want to do that when the defense is out there too.

I’m really thinking it’s 3 more years unless we can entice the one team with dumb enough ownership… J-E-T-S jets jets jets

Set up a nice dinner for Mikey to meet A Rodgers (who he has always had a man crush on), the waiter (a plant) stops by and says “man you two would be awesome together…unstoppable” keep adding gas to the fire and then take a very reasonable deal from the Jets so as not to blow the exit strategy maybe Garret Wilson and a 2nd or 3rd.
