Darius Slay signing with Steelers

He was still good last year, but is basically a dinosaur in CB years. Would have preferred someone younger, as his wheels could fall off at any time.

Yeah, I am nonplussed by this move...
the thing is I think they feel that Trice is still developing into a starter, so they arent prioritizing a long term solution...

In a positive note, he’s better than Peterson was at this point of their careers. Another plus; he’s going to be released by the Eagles so he doesn’t count as a free agent and a negative equalizer vs free agent loss compensation.

34 year old Darius Slay. Yikes! Reminiscent of the Pat Pete signing.
Two years ago we were going to sign Slay but he resigned with the Eagles for 2 years. We ended up signing Peterson. Two years later Tomlin got his guy finally.

93.7 The Fan just reported that Darius Slay has not yet been released by the Eagles. They’re saying the Eagles may not release him but may want to trade him.
That’s what they are saying on 93.7 The Fan.

Somebody in the Steelers front office needs to stop talking to Dulac. First he reports that the Steelers are set to sign Kirk as soon as the Jags release him. So, the Jags hold onto him and trade him to the Texans.
Now, he jumps the gun on this Slay deal and all of the sudden the Eagles are thinking of him as a valuable trade piece rather than someone taking up cap space.

Or someone is using Dulac to get false information out there as a negotiating tool.
Who were they negotiating with at WR or CB that false information would have swung the deal? If that was the ploy, it backfired with the Kirk situation and should not have been tried again.

So we have basically done nothing in free agency..not that Slay was much of anything
Yep! We have done nothing today. All the good CBs and DL are gone. I suppose our big move occurred last night with the trade with a five year 150 million extension. Got to save money now for Watt and his massive extension.

Slay played under Austin so there's that. I think the bigger thing is Slay wouldn't fall under the compensatory formula. It does feel like a Patrick Peterson signing and with all the communication issues in the secondary last year, maybe they want some veteran leadership.

Dulac needs to step back.

His accuracy is now in question...

Donte Jackson was good but had them lingering back problems...

Agree berm, we needed an upgrade and I still hope they draft CB fairly high in the draft.

ADD in that a part may have also been them knowing they don’t have a 2nd rnd pick now.

I started a thread about him and was against bringing him in. Now that he is a Steelers player I’ll fully support his hoped, raised level of play.

I’d treat the culprit as a Revolutionary war spy, then hang him.

As a business owner, I caught an employee badmouthing me (and my company) to the competition. I brought all my guys into the office next morning (including the perpetrator who was a very good skilled employee), Didn’t mention any names as I talke3d about company and promotion of the company. I talked about coming to me direct if you have a problem, regardless of size or the topic.

Then I fired the employee right on the spot and in front of everyone. It made a very deep impression and the rest of the employees were overall happy. They were tired of behind the back stabbing employee.

I’ve always ran open communication with-n the company, and that really narrows the public broadcasters of sensitive information.
